Can-Am Maverick Belt Replacement | How To Replace Belt On 2012-17 Maverick 1000r

In this video I replace the drive belt on my 2014 can am maverick xmr. This should be the same procedure if you have a body style maverick like this. I try to show where bolts are and how to get to them as well as some details and preventative anti seize application so you can make sure you next belt job is easy. You ever figure out the limp mode?

Mine never did it again after the belt replacement but I am not sure that was it. This belt I took off looked good. I think it’s a throttle body thing, I don’t think my unit has had an update done that can am released years ago. I’m going to take it to a shop with BUDS and have them take my engine light off for that compressor for the suspension and I will tell them about the code.

Did you ever figure out why it goes into limp mode when you get on it in sport mode mine does the same thing occasionally

I have not yet. I need to see if I can replicate it again. Hopefully it doesn’t happen but I will probably have to take to a dealer and have them see what that code is.

For the bolts on the bottom of the housing it's easier if you remove just the half of the bolts skid plate, just the ones under the driver seat around 6 or 8 bolts and you save a lot of time

@MrSabinashouston​​⁠forsure that would open up more space for sure. It really was not that bad going through the cut out on the skid plate like I did. Since the wrench I had worked well for it. All I was worried about is the bolts and bushings being stripped out.

Turn your key to the lights on position and press the “S” till it says hours. Hold the “M” button while flipping your light switch up and down a few times. Low high low high low high.
