The valves cleaned up nice. Pro tip for ya, when you need clean carbon off the valves I use Oven Cleaner! Spray on foam it up and be Amazed as the Carbon washes away! 😁

Great video but never got to hear if it ran good and if it fix all the problems. Was there any issue with the rebuild and did it run strong?

2 years later, how is it doing? Also do you recall what rod bearings were used?

Do you happen to have a link to the sprocket holder tool you mentioned versus using the screwdriver

What bearing would get tight with heat? Iv got a motor that won't start when Hot. Tight to turn clutch by hand. Why would this happen any help would be great thanks

Hello!I noticed you said you reuse a head gasket. Is it normal for atv head gaskets to be reused?
@FourwheelerDoctor
@FourwheelerDoctor 9 ай бұрын
Yes I usually spray the gasket with copper seal and reuse. I've only ever had a couple times at the gaskets were damaged and I didn't reuse them. Just guessing I've probably rebuilt about 500 ATVs and when I just do a overbore on the cylinder I will reuse the gaskets with copper seal and have had no issues.

Did I miss it or did you check ring gaps off camera?

No I didn't check the ring gaps. These were not file to fit rings.

hey i have one of these.. 100 hours of use and the rear cylinder cam chain tensioner failed.. see that bit of metal the guide sits on just under the crank shaft at 9:44.. that snapped off on mine :( the engine i think over heated causing the tensioner to melt. the chain went slack, it threw it off the cam sprocket then wrapped around the crank. i am just trying to gauge if the engine is saveable. i really dont want to remove it from the UTV, and i really dont want to split the engine to replace the bit of metal thats snapped off. do you think it would still work OK without that bottom chain guide that is under the crank shaft chain sprocket? also sadly in the UK this engine has nowhere that sells parts for them so it all has to come from china :( what do you think?

in my own personal experience, take the engine out and split the case, these can am engines cant have any chunks in the oil, and youll need to replace all the parts that melted/broke unless you want to rebuild the whole engine when it spins a rod bearing or main bearing from junk in the oil

Im currently trying to time my engine after a rebuild right now as well and i noticed that when your timing cam #1 at 1:12:32 in the video, your timing lines on the cam sprocket are not perfectly horizontal with the jug. This is the same exact issue I am seeing with my 1000r engine, and only with #1 cylinder just like yours, cylinder #2 aligns horizontally perfect. How do you know that the timing marks should be rotated slightly counterclock wise rather than rotated slightly clockwise?

In the case with the front cam. I would normally shy toward the marks being shifted slightly forward so the when the tensioner is installed it would put pressure on the chain and and rotate the cam slightly counterclockwise.
