That water from the catch can is most likely been thrown up by the wheel & got in through the paper filter/breather at the top. For a catch can to effectively separate out oil vapors & blow-by gases they need a closed loop system with the crankcase fumes being sucked out by the intake system & passing through a filter element that condenses them out. Those open to atmosphere catch cans only rely on blowby & don't work. Your engine will become filthy inside & oil contaminated without the oil vapors and blow-by gases being sucked out & burnt as they are in the standard design with intake suction.

where are you getting this info man ?? people with x3's being running open cans for the longest time and having a open or close loop depends on the veichle in the case of a can am x3 this rely on vaccum to work properly. ( NOT GASES LIKE YOU SAID ) the x3 turbo generates so much vaccum that installing a open catch can will do the same in not more that a close loop, only diffrense your going to see is the smell, no debris or sand or dust or anything is sucked back in with a open filter on the can, i suggest visit the can am forums and see what all the owners have to say about personal experience, theres no performance loss or difference in running open or close just use what your engine ask for and in the case of a turbo 3 cylinder engine has a compression ratio of 9.5:1 blowby is common at high cylinder pressures, which you'd normally see in a turbo application..... OR a high comp N/A setup i dont want to run a close loop and get all the dirty shit inside the can inside my oil again if i was driving on the street with no dust or sand then maybe but only if my car ask for it.

@@Coyote.five.0 The inlet side of turbo creates vacuum by sucking air through the inlet tract and vapors out of the crankcase. By fitting that catch can you have now disconnected the turbo's air suction from the sump vapor scavenge system and all you have now is a open to atmosphere crankcase vent. Not hard to understand is it?

@@Coyote.five.0 Further to my point, whats the issue with sucking oily blowby vapors into the inlet side of the induction system? It's not as though the oily crankcase air is mixed with burnt exhaust gases & soot like in an E.G.R system. Oily residue & crankcase vapors from the crankcase would be good for inlet valve seat lubrication. The only thing that vent to atmosphere catch can which is really nothing more than just a crankcase vent is doing is letting muddy water & fine dirt particles into the engine oil & keeping burnt blowby vapor & gases in the crankcase.

Let us know how the evp belt works out. A buddy of mine has a friend that eats a belt per ride in Glamis on his xp1000. He said these belts lasted shorter for him. I swear his clutches are whacked, but he's had shops go through them multiple times. So who knows lol.

I will forsure update. Oem and evp belts cost about the same so figured i try it and see what happens lol. I'll probably break it in this weekend

Yeah I'll eventually run the oem belt as a spare while I run the Evp belt and see how it holds up. I'll be going back to the dunes next month.

How often do you empty the catch cam?? I just installed mine

I try to empty it after a few rides now 4 or 5. The first time I emptied it I had waited 10+ rides and it drained a lot

Wjyy install the catch can in an angle?? Why nit straight up. You'll get more of the water vapor to drip out..

The design has nothing to do with it as I can easily look for a spot to place it vertical, I chose not too as it doesn't do anything else but empty a few more drops and not worth the relocation process 🤷‍♂️.

​​@@GoTimeUTV If that much came out from that angle I'm sure if you had it mounted straight up, you would probably get additional 3oz out of the can... Btw. I didn't go with RPM can, I went with treal can... Way better setup.

Facing straight is better but slanted won't affect it, most catch cans are similar in design its hard to say one is better than the other. I think it about preference at the end of the day what brand you pick.
