Karue would win 6-0 6-0
@Deerjason6 ай бұрын
Yeah the gap between Alcaraz and Karue is much smaller than the gap between Karue and a 4.5 USTA player. That’s how hard it is to win a tennis match at the pro level, anyone can lose to anyone.
@rafapazos066 ай бұрын
@@DeerjasonAlthough not really. Most of the time top seeds don’t lose against players ranked below 30. There’s a rank for a reason. They might be able to win here and there if they are good and at their best when the other top seed is not having a good day but under normal conditions those are mismatches.
@michaelbakay74676 ай бұрын
@@rafapazos06 “most of the time”. But in the case of Karue and Winston there is no “most of the time”, we know for a fact that Karue will always win. That is the difference
@Deerjason6 ай бұрын
@@rafapazos06 What are u talking about? If a top pro has a bad day and a lower ranked pro is playing great, upsets occur. How many times have you seen a top pro get an early round exit by someone you never heard of? However, a pro will almost never lose to an advanced recreational player, unlike pros vs pros. If Alcaraz plays with the saber then Karue will have an easy win because Karue has the ability to actually beat Alcaraz with their normal rackets given the perfect situation. There is a reason Vegas makes money in the long run if u always bet on the top seed, it’s more than a “not really”.

Lastly, there are a ton of players on the ATP tour, D1, OR someone like myself that's a 5.0 that has been in 10,000's of grinding rallies that hasn't resulted in any grunts, and it will never be that way. My original comment wasn't throwing shade at Winston, It was clearly an observation as I've seen the majority of his videos and have "never" heard him grunt, so it's definitely new, which made me wonder if he was being encouraged to do so. I wonder if Winston needs to approach the serve from scratch. His current motion doesn’t seem all that natural for him. I think he should experiment with different styles and see which one has the most potential (platform vs pinpoint vs hybrid.. etc). I’d like to see if Karue could help him develop a better serve. Otherwise, the groundstrokes are looking so good.

Play again but tell Winston to try and finish points off within 3-5 swings. Him giving you rallies only helps you learn timing of that racket. You gotta take chances and not let you get overly comfortable. Karue should win this comfortably anyway. +@AB-TennisFan No a 5.0 would at least make it super competitive idk if he could beat one with that... winston is obviously no higher than 4.5 not solid enough
@AB-TennisFan6 ай бұрын
@@eyeofhorus1301 I understand your point. Of course as a viewer, I cannot officially upgrade or downgrade a player 1/2 NTRP based on one friendly match against Karue using a Saber :) But this was one of the best and most intense and fun 1-set matches I have seen Winston play. I think Winston has the potential for good results if he plays more USTA 4.5 level matches regularly (I agree he is currently more consistent at that level) and he should be able to get upgraded to 5.0 NTRP (reaching 9-10+ UTR). With some exceptions, at the 4.5 NTRP level the pace of the ball is more similar to when Karue uses a Saber- granted Karue can still smack the ball with Saber if needed (Karue has to be careful not injuring himself). I think Winston’s game is improving a lot and he is beginning to use better point play strategies. Winston is spending so much energy and time entertaining us and I hope he would also find some time for more official competitive play in future if he chooses to.
@eyeofhorus13016 ай бұрын
@@AB-TennisFan Good post but I think you underrate 10 utr... I've watched a match in person at a tournament between a couple 10.2-10.5 utr players they were so impressive smacking the ball hard every shot with tons of consistency long rallies. Winston is NOWHERE NEAR that level they would murder Karue with the saber. They don't make mistakes like winston does they don't miss unless you force them with really good shots, they're much more mobile than winston, and they hit much harder on average
@AB-TennisFan6 ай бұрын
@@eyeofhorus1301 You may be right about my underestimating 10+ UTR level in general, since videos usually slow down the "real" speed perception depending on the camera viewpoints compared to in person viewing🤔 Nevertheless, I would still pick Karue with Saber over most of the 10-10.5 UTR players using their regular rackets (I think at least Karue would make it very competitive using the Saber since he has an impeccable sense of the court geometry and he is a very clean hitter). Of course I can be wrong but, let's not tempt Karue since he needs to avoid injuries. Saber is not meant for too much serious competition and is really meant more as a tool to improve foot work/ court positioning and hand-eye coordination and perhaps having some fun like occasional matches like this🙂 By the way someone suggested (maybe for fun) Winston should try Saber himself against a 3.5 NTRP-- I would like to see that!

I don't see how Winston could win, because the Saber took away pace, spin , and net game from Karue. However, that would only reduce his pace and spin down to Winston's level, and Winston can't produce the pace that can hurt Karue.
