Can any good come from this old Cherry log? Wood-Mizer LT40 makes lumber

This Cherry log has a big branch that has grown out of the side. It is oval (not round) and a little bent. Typically, this might end up in the firewood pile. We give the log a chance on the Wood-Mizer LT40 and cut some 2" thick lumber. What do you think? Did we do good, and was the log worth saving?

I don’t saw, just split and burn, but I love cherry. Smells good when you cut it, when you split it and when you burn it 😀👍 The wild cherry around here, is all serpentine, so it’s a problem splittin. Especially before I had a splitter! The price of lumber today, I think that lumber to me is priceless. Thanks

I see what u thought was the butt looks like a v splitting to 2 upper branches the top limb on first cut was going wrong direction for the operator end to b the bottom of trunk. That's what I see

Loving your content! I am a general contractor in southeastern Idaho and just getting into sawmilling. This type of lumber is very popular here so I am doing the research now. I also happen to be from Indiana. Keep up the good work.

Last monster I sawed was a walnut, inside the log (about 8" under the bark) there was a concrete cinder block brick. The tree must of grown through one of the holes in the brick then the tree grew around it. Only lost 2 blades, 1 sawmill and 1 chainsaw.

There are that many people, I think he meant about 1% of the US. 10% would mean a total population in the US of 40,000,000 which I think is close to Canada but not the US.
