The top right dial isn’t labelled as it is user assignable and can get different for video and stills. In stills I had it set to exposure compensation but for video where I always shoot manual I had it set to dial in my kelvin white balance.🙂

I was sold on Sony when I got my first micro 4:3 a6100 for streaming. These features REALLY make me want to finally make the jump to big boy full frame & get out there in the world to capture all the things. That breathing compensation is insane! Any Sony owner from us little 4:3 hobbyists to full frame professional photographers/videographers will tell you that Sony's IBIS/OSS working together make shooting Sony glass on a Sony camera a pleasure but that breathing compensation is next level.

I don't want to be negative with Sony,without Sony mirrorless the market would stay boring as it was before. As a long term Sony user (F55,A7Riii,A7iii and others) i was expecting more from an alpha series that took so long to be released,the A7siii did surprised me,that was a great upgrade. At least as a hybrid camera as they marketing this, it should be able to shoot 4K 60 fps using the entire sensor. Not asking for 4K 120 because that will affect the A7siii. Great photo camera as the A7iii was and the extra MP are welcome but...

But as someone who doesn't know really anything about a lot of the photography terminology jargon being used, have you guys ever considered doing a tutorial video/series about basic photography? I don't have the money to afford something like that, but when I was smaller I wanted to be a photographer. I used to get a camera for Christmas every year for close to 10 years. Eventually the dream died when dad could no longer afford to take 10-15 rolls of film to get developed. I tried to bring back my passion by learning how to develop my own film, which I did in middle school as a class, but in the end it was just too expensive, my parents at the time didn't have the money, and I grew into racing instead. I do enjoy Brandon's videos on cameras even if I don't understand half of what he's saying as I can always google things. Look forward to seeing more camera stuffs.

@@joshuareveles I probably will because of how entrenched I am in their lens ecosystem. I use my X-T4 often but tried shooting a rehearsal dinner with it as a primary and it was a bit of a nightmare due to the AF. I want this camera! It seems to tick most of the boxes for me. Great image quality, fast burst rate, and great video quality/features. The addition of 10-bit video and 4K 60 fps (albeit with an annoying crop) makes it a big leap forward over the a7 III. Then again, I don't mind shooting slow motion in 1080p, and that goes up to 120 fps. Now, affording it and the lenses for it are another matter entirely.

For decades photographers have been reflexively shortening our focal lengths as we focus on things closer...I mean...yeah, this is a nice way to skip a few dozens of hours or practice to get good at it, which is good, but yeah, it still looks like a good backup camera or 2nd body

@@asdfjoe123 Yeah but this is straight up incredible for beginner-ish people who work in related fields (animation in my case) and can save up some money and a lot of time with something like this.

I'm not saying it isn't cool...but it's far from groundbreaking or incredible. Imagine me, unexperienced as an animator, and I discover something everyone in your field has been doing since Steamboat Willie and I subsequently go on a tech-news channel and tell everyone to check this thing out, how it's new and awesome because I lack the experience in your field to appreciate it's just the equivalent of automating a technique photographers have been using since all cameras used single exposure sheets, weighed dozens of pounds, and featured ground breaking fast apertures like f16. Edit, ok fine, not since the birth of photography, just since the 1930's when variable focal length lenses became a thing.

@@asdfjoe123 How do you shorten your focal length on a prime lens to compensate for breathing? For photography indeed not that big an issue... but this is more a feature for filming.
@asdfjoe123

@@FunkyAlphonzo We don't do that using a prime, and if you listen to our guy in the video, you'll hear that this camera doesn't do it either. "It zooms in and zooms out for you in compensation"

Great video thanks, my biggest disappointment about this camera (given the sizable price increase) was that Sony didn't manage to squeeze in a stacked sensor to once again cement them as the mirrorless leaders, offering cutting edge features at a great price like so many A series models have done before it. Sony could have still kept the A7iv artificially capped at 10fps to protect the A9 and A1 sales but I think to have quite a sizable rolling shutter and probably a nasty banding issue too when shooting in silent shutter mode is unacceptable at $2500 in what is essentially 2022. I would love to see some silent shutter banding tests, maybe a comparison shootout against the A9i which is actually the same price as the A7iv and so makes for a very interesting proposition!

Stacked sensor at that price! 🙄

@@Pfagnan Stacked sensor don't cost that much more to manufacture, depending on the amount of RAM used it's about $80-90 extra. The Sony A9i (with a stacked sensor) is the same price as the A7m4 right now for that reason, the cost price isn't what determines the street price.

The dial is unlabelled because it can be used for something else than exposure compensation... kind of basic information. Then you compare max mechanical shutter speed with a video camera... And lol, rolling shutter "isn't that bad"? Compared to what, the ZVE10?
