@BoomBrush
@BoomBrush 7 жыл бұрын
+Liam It would be interesting to 3D print the drawings so that where the ink is, the plastic is raised and Tommy can feel his "drawings". Maybe then, a really good stick man could be 3D printed the same way and he could compare the differences.

I did find it interesting too but mainly bc I would've thought that at some point in his 53 years, someone would've described what a stick figure looks like. Saying something like "it's just a vertical line with a circle on top for a head and two horizontal lines for arms and two inverted "V" shaped lines for legs" or something like that. Seems like the kind of thing that would get described since ppl use it so often.
@SephBane

First you draw an 'S', then a moar different 'S'. Top it off with a consumaint 'V'. Oh wait, that's not it.

I think the way he holds the pen makes it really difficult to draw straight lines and angles. He's also not used to drawing, and doesn't have "the feel" for what is and isn't angled, so maybe he doesn't notice how "un-square" they actually are

I recently saw a program about the brain, and they mentioned a guy who lost his vision as a small child and regained it over 40 years later. But his brain had not learned in those years how to process visual information, so he will struggled connecting what he saw with the actual item. Tommy would have to learn everything from scratch! It would be great for him, but also very overwhelming, I guess. He'd probably have to take in the visual works in small doses.
@jaredhoeft2832
@jaredhoeft2832 4 жыл бұрын
For people who are blind since birth, seeing for the first time can be extremely overwhelming. The new type of information their brains receive is completely unintelligible to them at first, and they have to learn how to understand it. It would be like if you or I suddenly gained a new sense, a totally foreign type of information about the world around us. It's wild

I don't know if he would want to at this point. It would be a very overwhelming experience that would have a lot of work involved and he is happy and doing well. I just think the negatives would overwhelm the positive at Tommy's age. I think it would only be appropriate for very very young people or people who have lost sight within the last few years....

The stick figure was actually pretty good! Normally people draw stick figures like a letter O (the head) on top of an upside-down letter Y (the body and legs) with a line going through it (the arms), but one can tell that your drawing is supposed to be a person even without having watched you draw it.

i watched a news video about a blind guy in the UK who painted pictures of people. To get the perspective etc he used blu-tack (I think it's called museum putty in the US) then he would feel for the position of the tack and start painting! if I remember, he had gone blind, not been born blind so I'm guessing that's a very big advantage!
