If Sergio Massida and Hampton Morris did DBZ style fusion, their amalgamation would beat Li Fabin Hampton can't snatch 130 but has a great clean and jerk. Sergio can't clean and jerk above 170 but can snatch 140.

Ok Seb, I give up, you win. This series has sold me on the event in Thailand. Now when I know what's on the line it's a must see.

Seb you’re probably right Li Fabin’s biggest challenge is probably his countryman Chen though I don’t know how he does it, at 67 he all muscle with hardly any fat to drop 6 kg bodyweight. Speaking of Chen when he snatches it looks like his feet are as wide as his hands. Seems like he could get a lower bottom position and less stress on hip joint with feet closer together. Irawan could still be upset by his younger teammate Saputra who has totaled 298 to Eko’s 300.
@alistairwillock72668 ай бұрын
Chen Lijun has had to switch to that wider foot position due to a loss in ankle mobility (likely due to scar tissue buildup from prior injuries). Also, he's not going to be messing with his mechanics at this point. This is the final Olympic push for both himself and Li Fabin, so they're both riding with what they've got all the way to (likely) Olympic gold for one and pre-Olympic retirement for the other.
@tonimilic23228 ай бұрын
That's gonna be very interesting. The thing is Chen Lijun looked extremely starved when he competed against Fabin in Jinju a year ago..... As you said hopefully they made a slower cut this time. I don't think they plan to retire Li Fabin as long as he can stay true to his performance, they probably don't really care that much if he's 30 or 34 as long as he's able to bring home gold medals. Unfortunately performance starts to decrease at a certain age which could be the case for Fabin which you also can see with Lasha atm. I'm really curious if Li Dayin or Shi Zhiyong is gonna make it to Paris... Thailand is going to be absolutely insane..... On a sidenot, can anybody or weightlifting house themselves tell me what the track is playing in the background around 04:44, it's stunning

Both of the Chinese lifters are insanely aesthetic, Chen Lijun looks much better at 67kg though. Idk how they are going to get him down to 61kg and be able to stay there and be healthy
@alistairwillock72668 ай бұрын
Seb said it in this video. They took six months to trim him down more sustainably.

Ah yes, Chen Lijun getting some bone scraped off so he can make the cut. Or perhaps he won't quite be needing both kidneys on competition day.

How does he know Li Fabin's carreer is coming to an end? who is retiring him lol
@SomeSeriousWeight8 ай бұрын
Nobody is really retiring him, he is currently 31 and will be 35 in 2028. Which is old by weightlifting standards I assume (as well as WLHouse) China doesn't want another Lu Xiaojun story where they plan to compete in their 40's
@pateHNBTA8 ай бұрын
@@SomeSeriousWeight but what's that based on? It seems to me China doesn't care if it's a 17 or 37 yrs old, it's more about who can be the best and keep on top. Aside from the provicences interests.
@johndoherty-hh2ck8 ай бұрын
Good point pateHNBTA but we all realize what an outlier Lu was. He was 37 and won gold in Tokyo. I’m not saying it couldn’t be done, just that it would be very difficult.Still we shouldn’t presume to know the mindset of an athlete we’ve never met.
@pateHNBTA8 ай бұрын
@@johndoherty-hh2ck Maybe I'm a bit biased when it comes to Li Fabin, but him saying: "His carreer comes to an end" sounds odd to me. Becuase, aside from asumptions and as long 61s remains an Olympic category, Ii Fabin is still the best lifter they have for that category. During this cycle he has beat his other national competitors, He Yueji, Ding Hongjie and Chen Li Jun and the North Korean athletes. So, do we just assume someone is retering soon just cuz he is on his early 30s?

if hamptom want to secure gold must snatch at least 135
@johndoherty-hh2ck8 ай бұрын
I think bronze is more realistic, maybe silver for Hamp the Champ though I’d go ballistic if he won.
@clintiacuone17038 ай бұрын
He’ll need more than that cause fabin will snatch over 140 and clean and jerk over 170
@alistairwillock72668 ай бұрын
Morris might be able to build up to 135/177. He's still improving...
