What food shocked you the most that you will have to avoid with prediabetes?!

Dried fruit! Dried figs, sourdough 🥨, and 🍿are all my FAVES!! Can you please do a breakdown on popcorn? When I make gumbo, I use almond flour (or Paleo Flour from Bob’s Res Mill) and Kerrygold butter to make the roux! Made smothered quail last week using the same. Delicious!!

@@dietitianshelly - And let’s not forget WASA Sourdough Whole Grain Crispbread (7g fiber- 2g soluble and insoluble fiber = 5G total carbs per serving of one BIG crispbread.) Total sugar = 0. Added sugar = 0. Total fat = 0 . . . So can I slather it with a tablespoon of butter? Or Mousse de canard pâté de foie gras? Or Cod liver mixed with smoked oyster pâté?! Topped with caviar? 😬 I know, I’m “trying it!!” But the CRUNCH!! Almost makes up for that sourdough pretzel. ALMOST! Ingredients: 100% whole grain rye flour, yeast and salt.

I 100% agree with you. I'm appalled that so many don't understand what you're teaching. This speaks to the marketing. So many people think I'm way too strict and judge me. It's my body, so my decision as to what I put in it.

I’m glad to see/hear your explanations of these foods….AND the good safe ones. I needed this info greatly. I already have many of the good/safe foods but need to stock up on some more. I’ve enjoyed the no carb/low carb alternative foods….and the Swerve tastes good! I still needed to better understand the amounts of carbs per food. So this video is one for me to listen, listen again, take notes and abide by them deliberately to reverse my insulin resistance. Thks Shelly!!! Ahna

Hi Shelly. Question. I am prediabetic and I’m on keto I see you in this picture of your video butter is a no on keto it’s a yes. please tell me can I have butter
@dietitianshelly2 жыл бұрын
I prefer extra virgin olive oil for all the wonderful omega-3s. Plus a recent study showed the increase of blood sugar levels was much smaller with olive oil (when added to the meal) - I reserve butter for Kerry Gold (you see in my recipes) or 100 percent butter only.

Hi, I just found your channel. I have to say that I already know and avoid these foods but I do have a question. I grind my own wheat and make my bread. I cut the slices quite thin. Is this a bad food? I don't eat it daily and I have to keep my carbs at 30g per meal. I bought keto bread the other day thinking it was lower carbs because it said 18 per slice. I do occasionally buy Sara Lee 100% whole wheat. I had read the the carb content and thought it was 23 for one slice but when I got home I looked at it again and the carbs were for two slices. I think people need to be careful when buying keto bread. I am not trying to eat keto just the lower carbs the diabetes doctor put me on. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for your video. I have a question. I started keto beginning of February and I’ve lost a lot of weight. I do intermittent eating. I had a blood test recently and now I’m told I’m prediabetic. How can this be everything that you have stated in this video, I don’t need any of it ever so please thank me tell me what to do. I am so nervous about this and a little pissed off.

Today I ate about half cup of pinto beans with a bit ham burger in it. I made tortillas made with 1/3 cup lentil flour and 2/3 cup whole wheat flour, a little salt, oil and water. I ate two tortillas amounting to just under 1/2 cup of the flour mixture. As I understand food with high fiber knocks down the carb intake. I am not sure how to word it. That was my only meal of the day. I also had a small handful of peanuts before I ate then later I ate 7 corn chips. I do intermittent fasting and don't usually eat before 2 or 3 pm. My actual question is about the two tortillas as I already know about the corn chips, beans and peanuts. Thanks again for the video.
