@@miconis123 indeed, and this is where it seems the believers and non-believers appear to differ on a key part of morality . The god fearing, are very worried about about sinful thoughts, whereas most of us only care about actions. We accept that is is likely normal or at least not terrible that we have certain thoughts such a jealousy as long as we do not act upon them, what matters is only our actions and that actually it is better to accept we have thoughts but when we go against our thoughts this is good as we have sort of tamed the breast within. Its an acceptance we cannot control thought but we can control action.

Okay, For one... The “moral argument” hinges on the fact Atheists MUST have morals. That’s the whole point of the of the argument. An atheist that thinks Christians are saying “Atheists don’t have morals” is not comprehending the point being made. and please let me know what Christian you know has a slave...let alone beats them😒 This is how liberals are made. When people Listen to someone babble about a topic they don’t understand.
@ZygonCannar
@ZygonCannar 4 жыл бұрын
@@defiance1790 Literally like 20% of the calls he takes have people saying 'If you don't live by God or the Bible, how do you know what's right or wrong?", what are you on about? I don't THINK they are saying it, they literally claim that if we don't have the bible as a 'blueprint of morality' then we don't have morals. It's why tons of Christians think we're monsters just by saying we're atheist, they think we're basically barbarians only upheld by civil laws. This literal video is a guy trying to prove that the bible is the moral code we're supposed to uphold. Which is why Matt's argument is usually about the Bible's view on slavery, because the bible has some shit morals.

There is no such thing as (morally) awful. 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗶𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 Sub-premise 1a: Atheism does not believe in gods. Sub-premise 1b: Atheism does not believe in other supernatural validation of moral claims. (e.g. Dao, Dharma, Divine Logos) Premise 1: Therefore, Atheism does not believe in supernatural validation for moral claims. Sub-premise 2a: The eventual objective consequence of all actions is Entropy. Sub-premise 2b: Death eradicates all subjective experience of and caring about consequences. Premise 2: Consequentialism/Utilitarianism cannot justify short-term over long-term priorities. Premise 3: Furthermore, Hume's guillotine refutes all moral claims derived from observable facts. Sub-premise 4a: It is not morally wrong to change or lose interest in one’s values. Sub-premise 4b: It is not morally wrong for societies to change value judgements. Sub-premise 4c: It is not morally wrong for individuals to change or resist societal value judgements. Premise 4: Therefore, value judgements do not validate the moral claims of those judgements. Conclusion: No validation for moral claims remains; Moral Nihilism is the only rational outlook for Atheism.

When 19:40 she said she would "absolutely" be his slave, she went straight into revealing she thought people at that time were slaves only as punishment for something they did to the person who is now their master, and that she would rather be a slave than in prison. Matt lost it while she was saying it. She probably heard an apologist say slavery was a better substitute for incarceration or another commenter say it was better to enslave them than to slaughter them if they were enemies conquered in war. I think she merely had to be shown from her bible that slaves could be bought or that a young virgin from a neighboring conquered state could be kept alive to be a slave forever when everyone else was commanded to be killed. Now we won't know if she would have listened to reason.

It took so long for me to get that whole ‘we are born evil and we deserve eternal torture’ out of my head. It hurts your self-esteem and view of people, which leads to depression. Now I can’t imagine thinking we are all just as bad as child rapists, dictators, and serial killers. We are all flawed, but most of us are decent. It feels so much better knowing that I’m not on the same level as people like Albert Fish. I don’t get it now. I was raised believing that, but how do adults willingly call themselves ‘horribly depraved’ but think the god that judges them is ‘loving?’

Yes, this is how they try to get you, dude. Religion is the age-old snake oil salesman scam: Claims that you're sick, and then offers you the cure, in the form of faith and devotion to a Church and all its rules, standards and practices. Wake up, its all a con. Churches and religious institutions have been doing it for centuries now, at the very least. You convince people that they're sick, and that you're the only one with the cure. Not only will they fall for it, but they'll keep coming back for more, because the "cure" doesnt actually do anything. And those that call out the con, are people that are "too sick" to realize there really is a "cure". Its the perfect con.

I’ll agree it’s sad that people like that exist, but I’m starting to doubt we can do something about it, even in thz brightest future possible. It seems to me intrinsic to the guman species to WANT to obey. As hichens would have said, it is the desire to be a slave, the essence of sadomasochism, of abjection. Look what’s happening right now: as religious beliefs decline, alternate equally false, stupid and dogmatic belives are on the rise, think of conspiracies, and all those weird faith based beliefs (vaccins, homepathy, flat earth, moon landing etc) I’m starting to think that to not succomb to that you need to be at least average smart if no more and/or have to make conscious constant efforts to not have fallacious reasoning, as it’s more natural and thus easier then proper reason. She would not want to live in a savagely punitive world governed by so-called Biblical morality. It would be a world of brutal oppression, merciless persecution and coercion by fear. That would be like if I made a machine who has a secondary option and functions to make money and then I get mad at it for making money when it was installed at tilling machine how am I going to smash that machine which represents going to hell if I could hate it it with that option or function that made no sense like for real.

And also want's a relationship with us meanwhile at the same time had created each soul (hand crafted), sent the soul to inhabit specific bodies (that also god created and planned for behind the scenes) and therefore knows us better then we know ourselves. Even without a perfect knowledge of the future (so that's being generous to an omni god) why would such a god wan't a relationship? And while wanting a relationship doesn't sound like a bad thing since humans do that type of thing all the time however here the biblical god seems to demand it rather then be all gentle about it. So again this revolves around a claim made by theists that we all have a special innate knowledge about god that only their religion could unlock/bring to the surface (FYI this gets further complicated by denominations and what each of them have to say and preach about doctrines such as salvation etc).

@Truthus Maximus the only evidence that we need to justify our position of "we don't belive in god" is the lack of evidence from the theist, but you think there is evidence, so, change our mind.

@Truthus Maximus well, you are right, i will dismiss it, but not because i'm ignorant of science, and don't care of filosofy because filosofy doesn't prove a thing in itself. But, i wouldn't dismiss it if you can do something easy, if this is science, can you get the name of a scientist with a published paper of fine tunning? Is easy to get if this is science, and willing to read it, so good luck.

@Truthus Maximus "An absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." That is a common fallacy. If their is a lack of evidence for an elephant on the quad, then that is indeed evidence of it's absence. For a mouse, that might be different. And you can decide whether your god is more like an elephant or a mouse!?

No. No. and fuck no. I think it's hilarious that if it's a soft spoken voice instead of some dickhead shouting, the message is somehow less awful. SHE LITERALLY THINKS THAT SEX WORKERS ARE DEPRAVED AND LINKED IT TO SERIAL MURDERERS AND ONLY WALKED IT BACK WHEN IT WAS POINTED OUT. Fuck that noise, she's a POS.

9:30 "Jesus says let he who is without sin cast the first stone" But then according to the Bible, Jesus does not cast the first stone. This means 1 of 3 options. 1) Jesus is not without sin 2) Jesus is actually a woman( a she,not a he) 3) Jesus is telling the people that the commandments can be ignored if you want to ignore them

I'm an atheist, and I think the bible is astoundingly immoral. This isn't one of those times though. The moral of the story is those wanting to judge others should first look back at their own actions as we have all done things we are not proud of. The relevant point in this case is that Jesus is addressing those wanting to cast stones. The correct answer in this case is: 4) Jesus does not want to cast a stone
