Don't worry! You can do it! There have been a few times when Foreigners became k-pop stars. Not all K-pop idols are korean or from South Korea. For example, Mark from Got7 is from USA. Lisa From Blackpink is from Thailand. Alex Reid is black and she made it into a k-pop group. But you do have to be careful about the entertainment you want to join because in Alex Reid's case, there was a MV that my sister showed me. If you watched it, you would notice that she barely appeared in the MV. But again, the K-pop Industry is always changing! Besides since you're around my age, age increases your chances because entertainment look for younger people to train. As long as you're very talented, know a good amount of korean and have the motivation to do it. I hope you become a K-pop star or debut in a group! By the way, The people I listed? There are more people that weren't from South Korea or is asian. So I hope you achieve your dream! ( sorry I wrote it so long) :3

I’m gonna blunt with y’all: If you ain’t Korean or another East Asian person (Thai, Chinese, Japanese) You will have less than 50% chance going into the audition - especially if you are clearly not Asian then it goes lower than 40% - the chances become even worse if *YOU* are just mediocre with decent vocals - dancing - no personality. You have to *STAND OUT* in a good way. Everyone still has a chance but it’s not going to be easy AT ALL - Also, I hate to hurt y’all but if it was ONLY based on talent. Everyone would be getting in and idol life wouldn’t be so exclusive. As stated, YOU NEED TO STAND OUT - •NATURALLY A VISUAL •VERY VERY TALENTED •4D PERSONALITY Those judges will see right through you if you have any ulterior motives. They want you to sacrifice everything for the idol life (comfort, money, life)... it’s not easy at all and you need to show them this at the auditions. That’s all. I wish everyone who auditions in the future luck and this is only information I’ve gathered from talking with my friend who was a YG trainee but moved to China to pursue her education. *WHICH IS ALSO COMMON* The fear of failing as an idol causes most to also quit. Wish everyone good luck once more!!

I'm a filipino, it's really my dream to become a yg artist and I want to pursue my dreams because my heart has been telling me to do it to inspire others, and when I saw other kpop idols' experiences as a trainee it discourages me to not continue it like my mind said that "This is hard! You can't do it" and other things that would discourage me. It really hurts me especially my heart and dreams, dreaming for years to be a kpop idol not accomplishing it, breaks my heart. And my hard ships with my voice doesn’t make me think “oh, because my voice doesn’t work normally I can’t pursue my dreams!” That’s definitely not true, I would just have to work harder! aww I'm a filipino too who wants to be a kpop idol! It seems very hard because of how strict they are in Korea! Do you think height matters or not? Because I am super short! I'm only 4'11", 16 years old, and have been staying at this same height since 12 years old so it's sad that I won't be growing anymore ughhhh!!!! If it's your dream to be a kpop idol, just go for it! Remember what RM said, to take all the chances you have or else you will regret it in the future! Don't waste your time and just try! Yes, it'll be very hard to really achieve that goal, but hard work will really pay off one day! For me, I believe one day I'll make it even though it may be hard! I will try working hard to achieve that goal. What makes it harder for me is that my parents don't actually support me for this dream, but I want to prove to them that I can really do it! I want to make my parents proud! I don't want to disappoint them! I hope one day I'll make myself and my parents proud! I hope I'll achieve my goals of becoming a kpop idol one day and become successful! But what matters most to me is happiness! I want to just enjoy my job. The money doesn't matter too much. I know how fun it would be to be a kpop idol but ofc there are tough times which we will have to overcome! Remember, there isn't success without struggles so let's overcome all the obstacles that may come in your way! I wish you good luck in the future! Good luck to my fellow filipino!!! Hwaiting💪

Hello, I am a Latin girl, I am 15 years old and I am completely sure that I want to dedicate myself to the kpop music industry in South Korea. I know that not everything is rosy and that this industry is very difficult, in addition many will think "you are crazy", "being Latino / foreign is impossible", but I am not, during these 3 years that I have been thinking about it, I have decided and I will not tire until I reach it. I try so hard to dance and sing with the teachers and only in my house, I already told my parents, my friends the same thing, of course they question it and think that it is only because I like kpop, but not only because of that This is because I love music forever and it can be difficult for me to dance, but I have been improving and will continue to strive. I will climb little by little until reaching my dream, always with my feet on the ground. Do not give up on your dreams. I hope you remember my comment in that future 💖

thanks again for the vid. what's hot change all the time, so who knows what'll be in demand in the future? tzuyu of twice is ~170+cm while average is ~165cm, for instance. but realistically, your advice sounds spot on. (though 1 in 10,000 vs 100,000 are both ridiculously remote anyway, so there is little practical difference in an industry of dreams.) iirc, the trainee system in kpop kinda started out of necessity b/c korea is small and too few had the skills to be world class entertainers. also, korea was ahead of the curve about the disruptions from faster connectivity and the skill set needed for the future. these weren't taught anywhere, so kpop firms had to nurture that inhouse. here's a really, really old interview with jyp about the issue. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6PQaXWggrGhd68 on a related topic, what's the entertainment industry like in sweden? i recall that a disproportionate number of super popular kpop songs are composed by vikings.
@DaebakOfficial6 жыл бұрын
test Sweden is one of the biggest music exporters in the world, however not a lot of Swedish artists/bands make it very big, even within Sweden itself. It’s like either you become really big (Zara Larsson for example) or you release a one hit wonder and no one really hears from you again. That’s why most Swedish musicians sell their music to other countries (Korea/Japan etc). Hope I answered your questions ☺️ /silvia

If not related to any type of Asian and I only speak one language: English, I do know how to speak some Korean but not fluently. BTS is the first group I listened to and I honestly was going through a hard time whilst I was just new to the group, they honestly believe that they help you ( Many other groups) through hard times from being so far away from you, even just listening to a song will cheer me up and many other people as well. I'm really inspired to just at least try audition,the thing is though, my parents me and my sister have never been on a airplane and I really don't think that my parents will like if I go to korea just to audition for something, my dad is really concerned about what they do when the kpop idols aren't on screen, he also thinks that many many kpop idols got loads of surgery, I don't wanna let that stop me. If you guys REALLY want to be an idol, just become one in your language or country. Most will not like if you're non-asian and try to become a k-idol, just try in your country you'll have a better chance at succeeding. The difference in the kpop industry and pop industry is that kpop does choreo, visuals, vocals/rap And unique. Pop is basically just rapping or vocals but you can choose to do choreos and make it have the elements a k-idol would have on a live stage but in YOUR country. I'm not saying foreigners don't have a chance but let's be honest, I'm Latina and if a white person from Britain tried to make it big in the kpop industry from a language they just learned there is a chance that they won't make it. Most people that say they dream to be idols only want to so that they can meet other kpop groups and have a chance with their "oppa"

I've always wanted to be singer but never thought it would be possible so I gave up. I honestly think most American singers don't take it serious, like they do but not enough ( I know there are some who do take it seriously and I respect that) I discovered kpop and got the dream of being a professional dancer and singer and saw how serious they were about everything and it gave me more courage to be dancer and a singer. even though the chances are very, very low since I'm not even a bit Asian I'm going to put everything into this and I hope everyone gets there chance

Actually, if you don’t speak korean atleast try learning. During the training process you are chosen to practice dancing, singing, and speaking korean. If you’re little, just audition because they won’t expect much from you and your talent. I really recommend that.

I'm a really respectful girl and I'm an hard worker also I'm trying to learn the Korean culture as much as I can. To be honest, the fact that even tho I pass the audition it isn't sure if they're going to put me in a band and debut is scaring me... People who are replying to people who are willing to work hard for their dream saying “sorry, if you are not Asian or Korean then you are already failing” Honestly, you may have to work a little harder, but their is a possibility that you might become a kpop idol. If you watched Naruto, you might know Rock Lee, every ninja has ninjutsu, jutsu and chakra. Rock Lee doesn’t, people told him that he just give up because he won’t become a ninja. Rock Lee never gave up, so he became a ninja a very strong one in fact. He alway chased his dream even though their was a slim chance of becoming a successful ninja. You guys should chase your dreams like Rock Lee. The people who are telling you that you won’t make it are just those jerks who think they are right all the time. Just like the people that told Rock Lee he should give up, but once they saw how hard he trained every day they found out that they are wrong. I look up to him, he may be a fictional character, but he is a perfect person to look up to if this is your dream.

Okay, so I have wanted to be a kpop idol for a while, but I don't fit the standards at all! I am from America I am overweight for my age(14) I don't think I look korean sooo. I can't speak Korean I don't quite fit American standards either lmao No talent. o o f But, even after all these flaws for even just the idea of this, my confidence has sky rocketed! About 4 days ago, I decided to get back in shape, like how I was when I was younger. I am soon to possibly buy a Rosseta Stone (Book?? Likely audio. I only see audio things for android and such.) to help me learn korean. And I may seem young, but I don't plan on doing anything soon. Me and a friend are planning to travel the asian countries once we graduate either highschool or college, so we also have to save up. So even though my chances are below .1%, it has still risen my self care and such. Even just imagining the thought, it raises my confidence. So like Silvia said, I will try :) (Also-Edit btw- I can't quite tell if I can sing or not, and I know I can't dance, but I feel like I have improved slightly, and that is all because I am practicing)

Already with not being Korean and not really understanding the language well your chances are going to be knocked probably lower than 30%, especially since (like she mentioned in the video) why choose a foreigners when they can choose someone that fits the Korean beauty standards, has had experience maybe as an ex trainee, and already lives in or around Korea. You would need to stand out with AMAZING talents to be even considered, we already see many Koreans who deserve to debut but dont because of their looks, what chance do foreigners really have???
