Password managers all come highly recommended by all privacy activists, obviously not all password managers are built equally but Bitwarden and Keepass are both excellent options neither of which with known vulnerabilities (both open source so check the code yourself if you don't believe it). Obviously if your password manager does get cracked then you're in for a bad time but if an attacker can do that to your password manager then they would have been able to do that on all your accounts anyway so not much changes.

As long as uPnP is open, it's easy enough done. Even with little to no knowledge about cyber security/hacking. Having uPnP open is essentially an invitation for anyone wanting to compromise your network as it allows you to port forward pretty much anywhere you want. Conveniently enough pretty much all IOT technology relies on uPnP being open to be fully functional (can work if it's closed, but limits the functionality of said devices, but more importantly helps protect your network). When setting up routers, more often than not, uPnP will be open by default anyway.

Download password manager? Nice, software that stores your passwords. No thanks.
@liamhiggins705 жыл бұрын
It's actually more secure in some ways. For example, you wouldn't have to worry about being compromised from key loggers. Also, your passwords on that software would be hashed and salted, so chances are you won't have to worry too much about getting your passwords compromised. That being said, if an agency such as GHCQ decided they wanted to monitor you, you don't really stand a chance unless you live a life like Adrian in this video.
@Cleveland-el9su5 жыл бұрын
@@liamhiggins70 Yea i get what you are saying and it may well be totally secure it just struck me as a scare type video. If you dont get this software you are going to get hacked! I also agree with what you said about the GHCQ. I think unless you have a lot to lose or something to hide then password being compromised does not really matter.

I have to be honest I really don't get the point of most smart devices... the oven for example, why would you need to know when something is cooked unless you are in the house? If you're not in the house you can't eat it anyway. Same goes for smart fridges, I have no idea what purpose they serve. I suppose smart lights might be nice if you use mood lighting but I'm fine with getting up and turning a switch, I definitely don't need to control it when I'm not there. I suppose it might be useful to be able to start a washing machine while out if I forgot to start it before I left but really it's not the end of the world if I can't, also I still have to remember to load the damn thing. To be clear, I love technology and I am all for useful stuff that frees up time and resources (like those hoovers that hoover the house while you're at work) or even that provides entertainment but smart houses just don't really serve enough of a purpose for me, I'm sure there are some features I would like/use but by an large I just don't see the point of them. Some features are down right creepy, there is no way I would have a camera that's connected to the internet inside my home, I would literally unplug it every time I was home. I don't really like the Alexa/Siri/Google devices that are always listening either. There is no way I would let a delivery person into my home when I'm not present (might let them into a porch is there was a locked door keeping them out of the house but never the main house). Also I can just imagine a boyfriend messing with me by changing stuff while I'm in the house etc. no it just doesn't appeal. Perhaps I am more conscious of the vulnerabilities than others as I work in tech but I dunno there just don't seem to be enough benefits to outweigh the down sides to me. Perhaps if I owned a mansion and was never home I might see the benefits of some of it but I don't own a mansion and I can't really see the point in a normal home.

The smart ovan is made for busy working familys. They set the food up and the timer. When they get home at night the tea is all cooked and ready. I have smart lights as I got a google home for my Birthday. I love that I can see and control my lights when not at home. As I don't work set hours It adds more flexability for me. Some love gadgets some are just as happy having 200 books to read.
