I love this format. Its very casual/relaxed and comfortable (I hope that was your intent hahaha) and makes me feel like I'm sitting in a lounge having a conversation (ie shutting up and listening, hahaha). I don't know if the algorithm likes this much, but I hope you are able to make it work.

I got a /24 in the mid-90s by sending an email to the .ca registrar and asking if I could have one, no justification needed - though it probably helped I was working at an ISP and sending the same guy .ca domain requests (by email) regularly. Got my network back 30min after sending the request, lol. Routed it to my home connection for a while, then various colo’ed hosting locations. Gave it back to ARIN around 2010 because I wasn’t using it. Early internet was wild.

I about spit out my drink when you showed that picture of the IP address and country, state, etc etc. I was laughing so hard. It kind of reminds me of when I'm watching crime shows and they're like, I'll pull their ISP from the router and grab the personal information. And I'm like Huh?!? And they say, ISP instead of IP and it annoys the hell out of me. Great video, PS where can I find that picture?

@@johnmiller9931 Oh yeah, I know. I just find it hilarious but annoying at the same time. The only TV series that is realistic from a technical perspective that I am aware of is Mr. Robot. And yes, Tik Tok is the new Funnies.

You should make more YT videos. You are good at it and would have a huge following in a short time.

Hi! Thanks :) I upped it more on this video than my last but I can turn it up more. I think the average is 12db which is what I tried for this one. I’ll ask an audio friend haha

Excellent, very didactic. Very nice explanation about NAT, thank you. If you could please let images for a longer time while you talk, it would be better. I had to pause some times to check them =)

Can you use IP to trace which ISP it came from, without law enforcement? Selling $2 billion of IPs reminds me of people buying up and selling domain names!
@johnmiller99312 жыл бұрын
You can typically identify which ISP holds a certain range of addresses. However, it would be highly irregular to then take that information and connect it to a particular subscriber. As shenetworks said, the leases expire regularly and people are assigned different addresses as time passes. Subscriber information is behind the closed doors of an ISP, short of a court order signed by a judge or a signed affidavit from law enforcement justiying the need for an in-progress emergency.
