There's a normative Islam based on the text and the state version of it and there is Islam as history from Bali to Dakar. Gayness has been part of Islam as history. So yes, you can be gay and a Muslim. Those who monopolise what Islam is or adhere to one version of Islam call it a sin. That is similar to the history gayness in of Christianity. The normative version of Islam controls people's sexuality and recognises only what is called "natural" sexual relationship between man and a woman. That imposition is "Islamic" but goes against human sexuality in its historicity. The should extend to "homosexuality" and how fluid it was in Islamic history until the colonial powers imposed Victorian laws in constitutions. Until very recently in Tunisia for example in a new constitution decriminalised homosexuality, doing away with the colonial article of criminalising sexual relationship between men. A similar change happened in Lebanon.

Imagine being brought up Muslim and then understanding later in life that you are homosexual. You are devout and practice daily exactly as described in scripture but you have feelings that you will never be allowed to act upon. Imagine the loneliness of such an experience... The gentleman in the video gives the example of a man who loves chasing women but stifles his desires because of his piety for his faith. However this is a different experience because he can get married and he can enjoy his wife (and she can enjoy him ) so he has a noble outlet / noble alternative. A gay Muslim man does not have this luxury. In his faith there is no noble alternative to being partnered with a man so he is doomed to loneliness. Is this not unfair for someone who is otherwise devout and pious in all other aspects ?

Yes... But the man in your analogy can have sex with his wife (who btw, has an obligation as his wife to do so); the man does not and has never, however, had the desire to exclusively have sex with another man, so you see, it's a fallacious comparison. What you are requesting of a gay person is a life long rejection of their innate sexuality... unless you're saying that desiring to fuck another man is a ubiquitous desire that all men have, and merely believe that righteous men have sex exclusively with women to whom they are married while preferring but denying their ACTUAL sexual desire (to have sex with men); I assume you don't believe the notion that all men are gay, which is something you'd have to believe in order to liken the "sin" of homosexuality to, for example, the sin of stealing. All people desire money and therefore all have a somewhat comparable incentive to steal, thus, stealing can reasonably be called a sin; not all men desire to have sex with other men and therefore DO NOT all have a somewhat comparable incentive to steal, thus homosexuality CANNOT reasonably be called a sin (unless of course you sense of morality is unjust).

It's a complicated world. All I know is that there are some men that have a "gay" voice and mannerism at a very young age that suffer from bullying and alienation from their community and family. How can we deal with this in a homophobic society like Islam? I'm an example. As much as I've tried to act straight, EVERYWHERE I go people pick up on it and give me cues or spread rumors that they know I'm gay. And the sad reality is they are right. But I didn't choose. And I feel I've been guided by God but how can I go to a mosque when I'm 100 percent that someone will pick up on my sexuality?

I was gay and Muslim. Now I'm straight and Muslim. Islam is focused on heterosexuality, so homosexuality is not ideal but so long as a person wishes to be heterosexual and tries to work towards it and doesn't sleep with another person to whom they are not married without clothing and doesn't reveal their awrah to someone they are not married to (except medical staff for medical purposes) then homosexual feelings are tolerated. My own observation is that homosexual feelings are dysfunctional because men and women have genitalia that when joined produce children by the grace of Allah, so men should be sexually attracted to those people for whom their sperm is created, otherwise what is the point in them producing sperm? Makes no sense. Homosexuality is disordered function. It is dysfunctional and it is not what we were designed to do.

@@hassanmuse5606 People being themselves is not a ‘mistake’. Homosexuality is natural, just like heterosexuality. Deal with it. For real diseases and ailments, your god has and will continue to do nothing for he is not even real. 3- Cancers do have a treatment or else people like scientists wouldn’t be trying to find one or at least trying to find ways of moving closer towards finding one. @Kordei - I commend you for doing what you think is right but you have to realise it's probably harmful to you in the long-run. Being gay or bi, it's obvs more than just having sex. There are gay couples who adopt children, raise families. I am not gay but I find it strange how they are looked down upon on Islam under the idea that it's "just an urge". I saw another comment earlier on another video stating "You think being gay is a choice, brother? I would chosen women in a heartbeat but I can't" something along the lines. If you are gay or whatever, just be you honestly. You don't have to be promiscuous, you can save yourself for marriage. Or if you still wanna be on the "straight" path, find a woman who understands your struggle and caters for it. It sounds absurd but I have heard stories of gay guys being married to women, but they are essentially best friends who raise families. Don't listen to these guys who literally don't even look at you as a normal human being, like Ali Dawah. He won't admit he's homophobic, he will just beat around the bush. Certainly, ignore idiots that just say "it's the devil" or something like that. If you are genuinely gay, you would know. There are of course people who aren't gay but have intrusive thoughts. For instance, H-OCD or sexuality OCD. If having gay thoughts make you feel uncomfortable and they come in continuous thoughts, disrupting your day-to-day life, you're probably not gay. Being gay or straight etc, means you have a genuine affection that feels peaceful. Intrusive thoughts are the opposite, they make you feel anxious and stressed. *I am not a specialist so take my thoughts with a grain of salt*. But I would say some guys have a least some gay thoughts, but then feel weirded out by it, but it doesn't actually mean anything. It doesn't make you gay, it's just your brain being weird. OCD is a serious condition, if you feel you have intrusive thoughts of any kind, look up on it and educate yourself. Then of course speak to a doctor so you can be sure if you feel that you have obsessive thoughts that ruin your daily activities. This can be p*rn induced too! If you are a heavy p*rn addict, chances are you will escalate and watch harder forms of videos. This is badddd, like really really bad. Save yourself the trouble and avoid p*rn at all costs. I hope this has helped. There's nothing wrong with having faith but try stick to science when it comes to these issues. Have a blessed day!
