Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.

I don't want to be that guy, but you couldn't use fan rotom for this because they only added rotom changing type starting in gen 5 and I always find it weird that not only does rotom have it's best forms locked by an event that no longer exists but also didn't even get a STAB boost until the next generation

I had my togetic once battle a Wild Chansey for high points. It was time taking, but I think on the third metronome, it got sacred fire, the then Ho-oH Signature move. The Chansey actually survives, but then on my fifth metronome, I got freaking Judgement, which took the pink blob out. I'm never gonna forget that, especially when Arceus and Ho-oH are two of my favourite legendaries.

You know, I used to think Pidgeot was the best bird Pokémon, just because I grew up with him. But it’s pretty clear just how much better Staraptor actually is. He has a much better ability, access to better moves (like close combat) and better stats IMO. Basically, he’s a sweet bird

Staraptor has objectively better stats than Pidgeot - 40 more attack base is huge difference, as the bulk and speed is similar (Intimidate makes Staraptor’s physical defense even better anyway). Talking about early bird Pokémon though, Corviknight is the actual best one. Zero discussions on that.

That Mantine ruling is a little weird. Catching a Remoraid to evolve your Mantyke would be like catching Bidoof as a HMmon - and I take much more umbrage with the catching of Giratina to specifically derail a challenging boss encounter. I know you like to actually make it to the E4 for the content but "swept by Giratina" would have been pretty good content too.

Gliscor is absolutely amazing. It's really tanky and has a very wide movepool with access to the element fangs and things like X-Scissor, Night Slash, and some Rock moves, too. A few years ago, I did a run of Ultra Moon bringing in Pokemon that I had never used before, and Gliscor was my MVP.

19:56 I love that nobody knew who he was talking about and then he called Tim out by name and now Tim is just getting absolutely shafted Edit: Speaking of getting shafted, I did this challenge a while back and my Wake fight went so differently. Gyarados went down easy to a shock wave from my Togetic, and then his STUPID WORTHLESS FLOATZEL CRIT 3 TIMES KILLING MY SCYTHER, PELIPPER, AND MOTHIM. I had been using all 3 with a great deal of reliability and in order to safely get my crobat in I had to sacrifice my Pelipper which of course started the domino effect that led to me losing to Cyrus in the distortion world. I also banned Gyarados and so I had no neutralities going into Candace and a missed flamethrower from my Togekiss caused me to lose my Staraptor as a sacrifice to her Froslass. This then meant that I was going into Cyrus with no answer to his ice fanging gyarados and it swept my team

I should mention, it would have been fine if Wurmple evolved into Cascoon. Because the stats that determine what Wurmple evolves into is determined on its encounter, catching one that evolves into a Cascoon would count as an illegitimate encounter. You'd just be able to go back and catch new Wurmple until you get one that isn't illegitimate.

It’s crazy you’re doing a Mono Flying run. I just successfully completed my Leaf Green hardcore Mono Flying run. My champion team was Axel the Charizard, Demyx the Gyarados, Xion the Scyther, Vanitas the Dragonite, Xaldin the Aerodactyl and Xemnas the Zappos. In the end, only Xemnas and Vanitas made it out alive. And I allow the use of legendaries if their base stat total is 600 or less

Nice! I'm doing a flying run of Y. I traded myself some pre-bred flying types to swap out for more over used encounters. I also banned gyarados because I lost my love for him to OU meta hype. Fearow with return is stupid op. I expected to have to sack him early, but he's high key carrying. I never use/get Noibat, so he was my starter. I deliberately over leveled him to use against fodder trainers and boxed him for gyms and story fights. Can't wait to finally use him in a gym, but he'll over level for Olympia, and then the ice gym is next 😭

An interesting strategy for Wake is using Sunny Day/Solarbeam Tropius, specially if it has Chlorophyll to ensure you outspeed Floatzel. Maybe that could have avoided Togetic's death And also, for Candice a Rain Dance strategy is perfect for getting rid of Snow Cloak and perfectly accurate Blizzards About Gyarados and Milotic, they have surprisingly high Sp. Def., so it's better to take them from the physical side Anyways, love your videos man, keep it up! :D

In addition to the "breaking Sturdy" and Fan-Rotom mistakes, having watched this right after your Flying-type Fire Red run where you used this clause to catch a second Spearow for the Farfetch'd trade...you absolutely could have caught a Remoraid. With the Wingull line not being able to learn Waterfall until Gen 9 and you banning Gyarados, you absolutely _had_ to catch an HM mule for Waterfall, which Remoraid learns. (Well, technically Mantyke itself is an eligible encounter that can learn Waterfall, but shush, team members aren't supposed to be using HMs anyway and besides you *can* pick up Remoraid before you even need Surf so catching it then is perfectly valid).

at the canalave bridge fight, I was like damn how's he gonna get through the steel gym - that's the hardest one left. Then I did a double take and was like wait the ice gym is next. Then I did a TRIPLE take when I remembered the last gym is electric. God damn this is a hard challenge

Scyther literally has the same base stat total as Scizor so even without evolving, it would’ve been a pretty good Pokémon. I do wish you used it instead of Chatot.
