Fun fact. Dark Bowser's cage attack has a secret second way of freeing yourself. If you rhythmically hide in your shell, the cage will begin to swing, keep timing it correctly, and its chain will break, crashing it into Dark Bowser for extra damage.

41:00 Nah, it's a timing check. Those little trash cans are there to punish simply holding the hammer out all the time. They slow down if they see the hammer, so you have to time it so that you pull out the hammer and make their slowdown still gets them close enough to smack back before becoming invulnerable.

BiS is literally my favourite game of all time, the credits music and the little rendition of the main title theme when bowser gets his cake always makes me cry, what a phenomenal game and phenomenal challenge run video !! i’ve watched your others already and can’t wait for the next stop on the mario and luigi grind, you better have something good planned for brotherhood aswell !!

the interesting part about DS Bowser's inside story is that this is legit the only game where its actually completely possible to beat with no gear, no specials, and Jump/Hammer/Punch/Fire Breath only. you surprisingly don't even need specials at all for this game. also weirdly enough Hammer, yes Hammer, is the strongest attack tool in BIS cuz of this weird "get +1 more damage on an absolute perfect excellent" formula. you can tell if da excellent you did was perfect if it did 1 more damage, or if it wasn't perfect, did 1 less damage. so you'll almost always be using it. I did a nerve mode challenge with similar rules and Stache/Horn only on level up(it must always get +3, otherwise reset), challenge medal always equipped(you can get it after beating scutlet), no specials, +1 level per area arc(so if its Bowser's turn in story he gets +1 level and only him. if its the bros, they get +1 level, and only them), and no badges(exceptions for no badges are: Dark Star, Dark Fawful+Vacuum helmet and Dark Bowser+Dark Star Core) also I'll reiterate, gettin +3 Stache/Horn is extremely important, since you'll be able to land more luckies, which're key to beatin da last 5 bosses in da game. Dark Star, while normally easy cuz of equips/bros items is the hardest boss in the game for several reasons: 1. if Mario and Luigi are anywhere less than level 36 w/o any speed upgrades, the Dark Star will always rise on its vulnerable cycle immediately after the bros take their turn. this is the key reason why the Dark Star is impossible at levels 22-35, because it outspeeds you and can constantly heal 30 hp after the 2nd cycle. at exactly level 36, I discovered Mario out-speeds Dark Star, this gives him 1 extra turn each of the Dark Star's vulnerable cycle. this is absolutely key. 2. Dark Star's 4 color orb attack, specifically when its 4 of the same color(Red or Green) and specifically goes Top to bottom. this attack is quite literally and I can confirm, Frame perfect. you have to jump perfectly by the 2nd orb or you will die. the reason for this is cuz if you jump wrong, you'll jump the 3rd orb but the 4th gets batted down so fast it will always, without fail, catch the bro right in their hitbox when you jump. its most deff cuz that 4th orb's very close to the screen when dark star goes top to bottom. I can confirm this's true. 3. you're required to use the excellent+Pow badge's 2x damage effect w/Mario and hope for luckies, otherwise you'll deff be likely to lose due to the 30 hp heals it might throw out more than once. that same 4 color orb attack, combined w/how aggressive Dark Star is, is exactly what makes it the hardest boss in BIS without a doubt. even Dark Bowser's easier than it. Dark Fawful's interesting. cuz when you remove everything you can target vacuum helmet with, it is a massive slog of 5 turn waiting til you beat the helmet. yes it takes exactly 5 turns for Vacuum helmet to detach from Dark Fawful everytime, which's why this fight's deff a huge slog. and vacuum helmet's drag a bro attack is "if you miss the jump counter twice you die", so its another use excellent+Pow Badge boss. Dark Fawful's star ray's kinda evil cuz he will switch up at half hp, and force you to memorize da pink star+can intentionally put a gap in da formation, all of which kills bowser very easily, dat 4404hp combined total(1800hp vacuum helmet, 2604 Dark Fawful) is deff daunting but he's beatable Dark Bowser.. is an estimated 475k hp in revives alone on challenge medal and the rock throw+Dark fire breath attack's jank but manageable. Special mention to Junker, he's a 2k hp mario solo, but he literally saves the run cuz he removes Weegee from play permanently but I'm happy to confirm that BIS is absolutely completely possible to beat this way, most deff cuz its level scaling surprisingly lets you do good damage w/your low levels, even to all the challenge medal bosses, a bit like Pit's scaling, but way better cuz you actually do damage w/o equips or levelin pow.🤲

This challenge gave me an insanely stupid idea. I've done a low-level run on a few of the games in this series (skipping all non-forced encounters, mostly battling bosses). What if you were to do it again, but add the no items or gear rule? In Bowser's Inside Story, you can also add the challenge medal whenever you get it since it has no benefit. You can break the game in half with the right equipment in low-level to the point of pretty much one-shotting Junker, so taking that away and then buffing the enemies makes for an, uh, interesting run. I also only upped speed on level ups in my low-level runs since it's the least beneficial stat in the game (yes, stache is a REALLY good stat, people tend to not know that). I might have to change this rule if I were to try this.
