techhhhhhnicaly vengefull spirt is actualy entirely optional, even with your ban list, you can get dreamshield with lantern and use it to kill the baldur painfully and oh so slowly

I personally attempted your challenge and i have to say, you would have suffered A LOT less if you had used spells more, NKG only took me 1 try and i only struggled on radiance because of how hard it was to get hits in, but overall it was pretty fun and i'm happy to have come across your video ❤

fun fact: watchers is completely possible without wings, there’s a pogoable background object very conveniently right next to the only place that checks if you have wings, i actually did this on my first casual playthrough before i even knew wings were an upgrade

another thing you should know is that you only need claw and dash to get wraiths, just go through the greenpath or queen’s station entrance to fog canyon and go to the shock room

that watcher knights gave me flashbacks to my "king's pass challenge", which is similar to this, but in boss fights i can't take advantage of practically any items (including movement upgrades/spells/nail arts/functional charms except for compass) either and can only use old nail + focus. (only base spells have been collected in case i "give up" on a section like queens gardens arena that i was trying and can allow extras without the full power version for at least somewhat of a challenge then too.) attempting that run was inspired by realizing i was using shade cloak too much against hornet 2 -> i needed practice for the base game fight, but since i didn't want to get there without shade cloak i just banned dash in my practice, and then later banned using all skills. for any that care, currently with that run: - still haven't finished the run as it's still stuck on watcher knights. record is taking out 1 of them. - currently i sometimes attempt the collector or soul tyrant to spice things up. i'm really bad at the collector when i don't ohko the adds, and i keep dying on the last phase of soul tyrant with dash banned + no heal opportunities, but i have had some good runs into it so it is possible. - i did uumuu + hog uumuu before collector thinking isma's tear would be required for love key -> collector -> p3 uumuu, but later realized there was an acid skip for it so i didn't end up collecting isma's tear after all. that one took forever with the low damage and dream nail also being banned. i had to make some allowances for accidental claw ledge grabs but banned wall jumps and any extended -> intentional wall slide (eg the side walls). i was expecting hall of gods uumuu to be easier than base uumuu due to the oomas dealing big damage, but it turns out that with the oomas i couldn't really be close to uumuu when the opportunities arose -> significantly reduced soul gain -> heals made it harder. also the bottom platforms felt slightly farther apart but i would need to check for sure. - haven't gone for traitor lord/etc so i'm not sure what i'm going to have to decide regarding the undodgable attacks (traitor lord ground pound, radiance wall of light, maybe some failed champion jumps need dash but i'm not sure). considering mandating desolate dive > shade cloak so they have some cost to them, but either option would only be allowed for specifically dodging those specific attacks. also not sure what's needed for radiance plats navigation - grimm completed, nkg is not. without air stalls (eg dash) fire bats became the hardest attack for grimm. you have to land between the first two bats, and from there you can either jump over the others (if you're quick enough landing to not get caught on the way up), or if you jumped high/long enough initially you can duck under the others due to baiting them up with their minor homing. i found it most consistent to just duck under the 2nd bat and jump the 3rd as it was less likely to be baited up high enough. - attempting on another file with pure nail + full hp/soul, thk dunks on me with mainly triple slash. (that attack was also my problem attack for pure vessel as it's fast i would have often just burned shade cloak dodging the soul daggers -> needing to dodge normally. didn't help that with my keybinds, my keyboard would drop the 3rd input and freeze inputs until releasing one when i held down right, down (for pogo), and jump, but i fixed that one now by changing the movement keys.)

9:01 you also don’t need the wings. You can pogo off of an object near the ledge to get up. It’s how I first beat them because I didn’t know the wings existed

@@kingpotassium i have beaten pv all bindings, i did a no upgrades playthrough once where i could only use vengeful spirit and old nail for damage, i haven't beaten flukemarm to this day. and gpz took so long to beat

btw just in case you will do other endurance challenges , use quick focus , fast heals allow vary aggressive play style and aggressive healing. You just need a lot of soul , soul eater or weaversong + grubsong , you could use dream wielder if you know how to abuse dream nail and I know for a FACT that you don't)

Honestly, it was only a few battles that were brutal. Hornet 2, Watcher Knights, Traitor Lord, NKG, and Radiance were easily the most stressful parts, but the rest of it was a very fun, very hectic playthrough

Absolute Radiance is, without a fraction of a doubt, one of the most brutal boss fights I've ever fought. A tier harder than every boss in Hollow Knight. I will literally never blame anyone for just getting 40/41 achievements solely because of Abs Rad

I feel like some of these charms not being banned is... Questionable.... Like Spell Twister, Flukenest, Thorns of Agony, and ALL OF THE MINION CHARMS (exception for grimmchild) do nothing outside of boosting combat. I'm not here to bash you for playing this challenge how you want though. You're definitely better than me (i can't beat pantheon 3 😭)

Yeah, the charms addition was a last-minute thing, tbh. I'm planning on refining the rules (maybe making a competition out of it, who knows), but Spell Twister definitely should have been banned. Flukenest is agony to get without upgrades, I didn't ban any AOE spells because they technically don't affect your damage output, and the minion charms weren't banned because I like them :). But yeah, if I were to redo this challenge, I would spend a lot more time on the charm aspect.
