Can I beat my Absentee Father (And Elite 4) in a Pokémon Ruby Hardcore Nuzlocke with Fighting types?

We all know that in Pokemon Ruby, you're father is not a great parent. As a matter of fact, your absentee father is a gym leader. And since he thinks his Pokémon are more important than his family, I've decided to use fighting Pokémon to take him out his normal types. And I might as well beat the game too I guess. So, can I beat a hardcore nuzlocke of Pokémon ruby with only fighting type Pokémon? Lets find out.

21:14 She sends out her numel because it has a super effective move (both numel and marchtomp) but the worst typing againt combusken (fire/ground is worse than water/ground, weird i know). Gen3 AI is very abusable because of this. Also fun video! really enjoyed the commentary!

Thanks! I think one thing that turned me off of medicham is his low base attack. BUT since his attack is doubled, that effectively means he can get 512 EV benefits in attack, which is pretty helpful.

You know, I’m doing a Hardcore Monotype for Platinum using Ice types. Obviously, because of such a minuscule number of ice types in gen 4, this seemed impossible but I came up with a solution. I would put all the ice types (and Pokémon that evolved into ice like Shellder) on a wheel and spin it for my starter. After every gym, I would do another spin to give myself an encounter. Might be a cool solution for a future run

Normally, having one Pokémon for the first gym is tough, but most first gyms are rock type and most ice types are also water types, so it worked out. I didn’t add eevee for Glaceon, and instead just put Glaceon on the list as is because the icy rock is found super late in the game and by that time I would just straight up be using an Eevee, which is normal type Edit: the level I put the new encounter at is the previous level cap, so since Roarks level cap is 14, the next Pokémon I spin would be 14

double kick would do a lot of damage to wattsons team than ember. Each kick has (30dmg)(1.5stab)(2effective)=30×1.5=45×2= 90 in each kick so you would deal 180 damage to magneton instead of 120 damage from ember. Plus the chance to have a critical hit would be higher.

You’re right. I went with ember because I knew magnetites have higher defense than special defense, but double kick still does more. Oh well

Skipping Makuhita trade was the right choice. That Mon is programmed to have a poor I spread of 5 max per stat. A random worst nature Makuhita in granite cave is significantly better than it due to the slim chances of getting an even worse IV spread.

Honestly, I’ve never been a big fan of focus punch because it’s only useful in specific situations. But it is powerful, I’ll give you that.

Yeah, a lot of people have commented on Mach bunch. I wasn’t a big fan of breeloom, so I avoided using it as much as possible. But I’m the future, I will not allow my biases to influence me quite as much :)
