Can I beat Oblivion with only RUSTY weapons?

Ah Oblivion difficulty slider. It goes from "Literal baby mode" through "somewhat normal", "it's fine" to "enemies are literal damage sponges". And then you still have like 60% of the difficulty bar left! Honestly I tried playing on max difficultiy sometimes but unless cheese flows in your veins it is not worth it.

There's a mod that turns it into 6x damage for both sides. Super lethal combat, quite fun. I cant recall its name tho as it was a decade.

I remember when Nerbit did this i suggested a variation where you don't use armorer to repair the weapons and only get rusty weapons by farming them from goblins. You kinda did half of it by farming all rusty weapon variants... So that's cool.

farming them from goblins would be...many not fun lol, mostly because the rate at which the weapons degrade would probably out pace the rate you collect them. unless you can manage to get to master armorer and then just have one that never breaks I suppose

when i heard you say "champion of the arena" my eyes widened , it's the only part of the game where i thought "fuck i might have to actually try and get some gear for this" after going by with just stuff found on the ground , which led me into trying the whole enchant system and trying to get decent stuff. Oblivion was the game that led me down the path of being exclusively a PC gamer. Ya see, I got it on the XBox 360. I played so much Oblivion that the XBox died, so I got another one. That one also died. The third time it happened I decided that there was nothing "Elite" about the console other than the name, and got a Playstation 3 instead which didn't fail after only three months. Later on when Skyrim came along, the game crashed every time the camera tried to go underwater. By that point I already had an extensive Steam library, an MMO addiction, and opportunities for couch coop just didn't come along anymore. Farewell consoles... it was fun while it lasted. Rambly way of saying, I fucking love this game and am so happy you're doing a video on it.

On Star Signs, I would highly recommend the Lord Sign as the ability it gives you is a *Lesser* power so you can spam it, and its an incredibly efficient heal for a bit of stamina.

I just speed ran the tutorial to check what you said about the birth signs. The Lady and Lord would be good choices too for warriors. I'd argue the Steed would be bad from the perspective that Oblivion was made with fast travel in mind. This isn't Morrowind or even Skyrim where movement speed is more important.

@DoomWolfOfficial you're thinking of the Lover, which is another good choice. Lady gives you a boost to Endurance and Willpower. Lord is pretty much as you said. I was thinking Lady from the standpoint of more stamina and more health considering how borked Oblivion is from a leveling standpoint. Good video though. I enjoyed it quite a bit and respect you for holding out as long as you did with the difficulty slider.

Todd Howard actually prefers the warrior style for playin which is why from Oblivion forward you don't need magic for the mages guild nor stealth for the dark brotherhood or thieves guild

Could of made it so much easier with magic, alchemy and enchanting. Stacking you attributes so high that you could have one shot any enemy at any difficulty.

yeah, but those things aren't rusty weapons so :P

@@DoomWolfOfficial Sure they are you're still doing damage via rusty weapons since they are just buffs. Higher strength just makes the weapon do more damage you're still using the axe it just hits harder and you don't have spend 10 minutes hitting an enemy.

I could but _sometimes_ i'm pretty strict on the rules and fire/frost/lighting damage is not rusty iron damage :P
