I reckon a NO GRIND run would be kinda fun, where you can have ANY Pokémon in ANY gen but you can only fight trainers and mons on the way to your next story destination, meaning you'll have to be pretty low level for every major fight and will have to maximise efficiency. That way you can have a full team of 6 Pokémon but the more you have the lower level they'll all be, so you'd have to pick your choices wisely. Truthfully I'm not sure how else you'd manage whether or not something is a grind besides if you have to retread areas for non-story reasons, I guess you could always just run away from wild Pokémon to travel around. If anyone likes the idea maybe we can refine it together, there's a solid basis there but the particulars need ironed out for sure. Perhaps a sub rule could be that you can use a non-party Mon to catch others you want on the team, that way you're free to scan around for what Mons you really want without training your actual team.

I'm repeating a suggestion from Jonathon Stutes, just with a slight alteration. The number roll challenge. (He said platinum specifically). Roll a number between 1 and whatever the last number of that regions pokedex is. The number you get is the pokemon you have to solo with. If you get a legendary, roll again. Please repeat this so he does it!

Can You Beat Pokemon Gold With No Wild Pokemon You arent allowed to battle or catch any wild Pokemon. You HAVE to run away if you encounter them. There are a handful of Pokemon in Gold that you can get without battling for them, so it'd be interesting to see. Shuckle, Spearow, Togepi, etc.

Here's one you've got to try that I recently did! Name: Random number generator Game: Platinum Rules: - Using a random number generator, generate 3-6 numbers between 1 and 493. - No duplicate numbers. - Look up what pokemon each number corresponds to. For example: 1=Bulbasaur, 252=Treecko. - If you roll on a Pokemon that is legendary, or otherwise unobtainable, reroll that number (ex. #377 regirock-386 deoxys all off-limits) - The pokemon ARE allowed to evolve (ex. Riolu #447can evolve it to a lucario #448). For me personally, I got the following numbers: 58, 249, 351 Growlithe, Lugia, and Castform. Lugia is a legendary so I rerolled and got 188, Skipbloom. I bred up some good IV/Nature babes with egg moves that I wanted on with the aim of the following move sets: Arcanine: - Crunch - Morning Sun - Flare Blitz - Reversal Jumpluff: - Encore - Substiture - Leech Seed - Substitutes Castform: - Rain dance - Sunnyday/hail - Weather ball - Thunder

Well let’s get these out of the way. He’ll choose the helix fossil. Comments are good for the KZbin algorithm. He’ll probably win since there’s not many dark types so he’ll probably have to get grind a bit. Anyway here’s some challenges: Emerald with Magcargo (basically the abomasnow challenge in a region more centered around kicking its ass) Fire red with only normal type moves (use foresight or odor sleuth for ghosts) Platinum using only Pokemon that can be fished up with a rod. Heart gold/soul silver with only a sunkern (sequel to a previous challenge) Black using only a Tynamo (probably gonna need in battle items for this one) Black/white 2 challenge mode using only first form bugs (another sequel)

So, I’ve been wondering if you could beat Pokémon Platinum with Female-only Pokémon? There’s really only less then a dozen of these available in the game, which are the three forms of Wormadam, Vespiquen, Blissey and Froslass. If you want, you could set your starter to be either Nidoran♀, Smoochum or Miltank so you could get some extra power to make the run a bit easier, especially when you get to Flint.

Can you beat Pokemon platinum using stat modifying moves only. By this I mean you can use any move whether it deals damage or not provided it changes some stat. Example: howl(attack), close combat ( defence and special defence), superpower ( attack and defence) , leaf storm (special attack), etc. Excited to see this

I'm surprised about the brick wall at the end, but I looked again at your base stats and it all checks out, Drowzee has surprisingly terrible special attack indeed, in fact its Gen1 special was basically its current special defense, so it would have been way easier in actual Gen1 :-) so at 0:25 when you say "because of how strong psychic was in Gen1" it's also important to note that special stats were grouped in Gen1 and seems to give a _massive_ advantage to Gen1 Drowzee :-) great video, thanks MDB!

@@TheDjbz this would be so laughably easy why do you think this would be at all hard? Items in battle are overpowered and all you would need is 1 tanky pokemon and you could heal your entire team. The only issue would be running out of money.

Adsventuresome PP Issues would still be a thing. (Ethers are rare and limited) And if it’s only healing items aloud (i.e no x items and the like) then it’s not going to be a complete doddle.

@@TheDjbz the whole thing really hinges on the game you're playing, having thought more of it now. Any game with trainer rechallenges makes this way easier. PP still is an issue but at the same time everyone forgets about leppa berries. It should also be clarified if you can heal in wild battles or not.

Nice run! I made a similar one with ralts in emerald once, but i had hypnosis, calm mind, thundershock and psychic. I put the enemy to sleep, buffed myself with calm mind and kept my enemy asleep for long enough to have all the buffs and one-shotted most of the elite 4 pokemon.

Couple of random points: - Calm Mind would have been ridiculously great on Lorelei, Ice and Water are special and Calm Mind boosts both Special Attack and Special Defense - You definitely should have picked up the Leftovers, I'm absolutely shocked you didn't. Would have probably meant you need to grind 10 levels fewer. - Could have taught Drowzee Protect via TM to rack up a bit more Leftovers recovery. Protect, Calm Mind, Psychic, and Return? - What fossil did you pick? Overall I'm very surprised a run with your favorite Pokemon was so hard. I guess Drowzee doesn't have good stats, but you could definitely have made things easier on yourself with Leftovers.

FYI - Silk scarf is obtainable in Lost Cave in the Sevii Islands. Might help in the future for boosting return or other normal moves. Also boosts confusion damage prior to Gen V. Never knew that.

If you wanna try a NON pokemon challenge, may I suggest to you Metroid Zero Mission without using the beams (not even for opening the doors) unless it's required (for instance at the start of the game)? It could be really creative, using all the other weapons instead, and kinda hard, at least at first with only a bunch of missiles at your disposal.

Interesting, I never thought of Drowzee as being a pokemon someone would ever consider being anything close to their favorite.
