​@@RobertJWIt was designed to do stuff like that but because Gen 1, there are a lot of bugs associated with it. Like how if you have 4 Pokemon and one faints, it still quarters the exp even though only 3 receive it.

Hey MDB, did you know that there's a setting in the randomizer that allows you to evolve trade evo Pokemon by level up instead?! I bet that would be a great way to use the Exp. All (which is what they call the Exp. Share in gen 1 and it works the exact same way as Gen 2 upwards I promise!) Also after you evolve your Gengar by level up you should equip the dog armor to increase its defense!

This was a lot of fun! If I'd have anything to say is that I think you weren't aggressive enough with your use of TMs. Jigglypuff can learn Water Gun, Mega Punch, Mega Kick, Seismic Toss, Bubblebeam, all of these would have made it easier to train Jigglypuff in the early game. Paras could have learned Dig which would have at least be useful in the overworld (Though, GOLDUCK can also learn it?!). And you could have used the TM for Blizzard on Golduck and you could have replaced Scratch with Strength if you wanted another physical move. I don't think it ended up mattering but you never know.

7:15 "exp all" also miscalculates the exp by rounding down. So it costs you exp. It's only value is if you deposit everything but your starter and take your strongest and weakest Pokemon out for a day trip.

A challenge I think might be interesting (game dependent) is an "N" challenge, using only "local" Pokémon for the major battles. Not sure what local counts as, maybe only catchable in the routes adjacent to the battle, or routes since the last major battle

Hey algorithm! You should swap the fossil footage with an alternate gen fossil scene - say, show the gen 3 version when playing a gen 1 game, or vice versa, and just don't even acknowledge it 😅

this was great, I'd love to see more!! for more RNG team runs, there's inevitably going to be a problem of "this previous gen pokemon does *not* exist in this game without trading between versions", to which i may have a pre-emptive solution (or at least an idea for one) when the team includes only one of these trade pokemon, I'd say that that pokemon should be your starter from the UPR if there's more than one trade pokemon, however, i propose that you should be able to 'trade' between versions by rolling an accesible RNG pokemon from the current generation to trade it for, as if you were actually trading with an npc in-game that *really* wants a Slugma for some reason I'm not sure if this level of trickery would work given I've never played like this personally, but i am holding out hope :)

I really love this run! I would consider even playing with the lvl. clause from Nuzzlockes, so you try to not overlevel over the ace of the upcoming gymleader. With that it would be totally fine to use candys to lvl the rest of your team up to the lvl cap! It gives you an easy challenge timewise and lets us see more variation with tactics, since you can use the whole team. Thank you for your hard work!

To make it more of a challenge, maybe you could implement a rule forcing you to use your most underleveled mon first? Or stop using one of them if their level gets like 5 levels over the one with the least levels. Forcing you to use the whole team throughout the run!

The EXP.All also has a number of bugs that cause exp loss. Namely if you use more than 1 pokemon in battle or have fainted pokemon. For example, if you have 5 pokemon total, and you pivoted against the pokemon (so 2 battled and survived, 1 fainted), the exp calculation would first give 50% to the survivors (25% each) then take what 1 earned and split it across the whole party (so 5% each) and the fainted pokemon's 5% is lost. Resulting in 30%+30%+5%+5%=70% of the possible exp getting distributed and 30% just vanished into the ether.

As a challenge idea, would love to see a run with Cacnea one day. It has really good base 85 atk and sp.atk but it's frail and painfully slow, its ability isn't great - buffing evasion during sandstorm is a bit of a double edged sword when you take chip damage from the weather - and in most gens its best level up move is the base 60 power Needle Arm. Running Cacnea in any generation would be fairly challenging, I think.

There's a few more issues with the EXP. All; you'd think it would divide all experience by the amount of Pokemon in your party, but that's not the case. It gives half of the experience to the Pokemon that normally would get it, and then divides the other half to the entire party, including that Pokemon that already got half. This means that, even if you try and use it as an EXP share by only having two Pokemon in your party, the main Pokemon will get 3/4 of the exp and the other will get 1/4. I was so disappointed when I discovered that while trying to grind something up, though it still beats switch training if you're using speed-up and auto-fire. It can also be okay if you're using it while sweeping the Elite 4 with something strong (probably Mewtwo) to train stuff up to fill your Pokedex, but that still requires speed-up and auto-fire to be worth it at all. Also, more than one Pokemon would normally get experience, it divides the amount of exp that goes to the whole party by the amount of Pokemon you used, even though it should only divide the normal exp. As a result, you just lose some exp to the void. This isn't usually an issue because you'd only use it while grinding anyway, but it's still bad obviously, and yet another reason you don't want to just carry it around all the time.

Nice! I'm all caught up. I'll leave an explanation below if you're reading this and am curious what I mean. Anyway, you're right in saying the EXP item is trash! I remember hating it as a kid. Also, this was a really cool run and would absolutely love to see more of them. My only thing would be using most of them (which you did in this run and am glad about). As always, keep plugging away, dude. In regards to the aforementioned, I had a back log of downloaded videos (went on vacation) and that snowballed for a while. It's dumb, but I generally don't comment on vidoes unless I watch them within a certain time frame... probably because I hate getting comments made months ago myself. I dunno. All and all, even if I don't comment on these, I will always watch them for what it's worth.

If you do this again i think the starter should always be the pokemon that would take you the longest to encounter. In this case rapidash. Otherwise a pokemon picked up this late is likely to just be ignored

This would definitely be fun to see in more generations. Also it might be cool to do a self-imposed rule where the numbers get re-rolled until they're broken up. Maybe do like 2 random numbers close to the start of the dex, 2-3 in the middle, and 1-2 towards the end. Then you'll have a team that consists of early, mid and endgame pokemon with a more likely chance at a legendary or pseudo to grind out at the end. Would also guarantee the team grows at a consistent pace if the rolls dont turn out as nice as they did here.

Hey MDB when you do a run with a Pokemon that doesn't start with any attacking moves you should just use rare candies to level it up until it gets one also you should do a gen-one Jigglypuff run. Also just wanted to mention love your stuff good job 👍
