What about DISMANTLED METAGROSS challenge? Rules: You can use team of 4 Beldum. It would be hilarious if you named them by their position on Metagross, like RightFront, LeftRear (two Beldum make Metang, two Metang make Metagross). Beldum learns no other moves except Take Down, Struggle could help. Where Beldum shines is his typing, up to Gen 6 only fire and ground moves should be super effective against him. Maybe Emerald isn't the best game for this challenge as I can't see how you could beat Steven's Metagross :)

In reply to your obviously rhetorical question, I would watch a Scyther-only Gen 1 challenge. My argument would be the goal would just be slightly different; your normal challenges are about "Can I do this?", a Scyther challenge would be about either "How quickly can I do this?" or "How low a level can I complete this at?". Perhaps, if you get bored of the regular challenges, you could do a "Smash Challenge" series to see how easily you can mop the floor with the game within certain less harsh constraints?

Jrose11 (yes, the same one MDB mentioned in this video) pretty much already did it. His "Least possible amount of Battles in Yellow" basically answers those questions. It was pretty interesting to watch, since he couldn't even grind with Wild Pokémon, and then came the problem between Slash and Swords Dance since... Oops, almost spoiled. Anyway, it's a really good watch.

The problem is that the run is impossible in Gen 1 because, aside from Yellow Version's addition of Wing Attack, Scyther doesn't get *ANY* moves that can hit Ghost Types. And even then, it has to be leveled up to *FIFTY* for that to happen, which would be painfully slow. And after that, all you'd be doing is mashing "A" to use Slash the entire time unless you encountered another Ghost Type because, if I recall correctly, crits don't work properly with stat-boosting moves and will actually do *less* damage if you use something like Swords Dance beforehand. So it would be a horrendously tedious grind midway, followed by lazily breezing through every fight with one move from that point onward, and occasionally using Quick Attack/Swift to finish off anything that doesn't go down in one hit for PP conservation.

@@TheTaintedWisdom firstly, incorrect on being able to hit ghosts - Scyther can learn Bide, which MDB has established CAN hit ghosts, because lol gen 1. Secondly, yes, he'll be approaching the fight nearly every time the exact same way - how is that different to every other video? Because between each fight he says, "looks like I'll need to grind some more"? The point to this one is to see how low a level he could actually be and manage it - and there are going to be some tough spots, thanks to Scyther's typing. Brock being the obvious one, but Blizzards from Lance are going to be painful, the rival's Pidgeot, Charizard, and Rhydon, Blaine, Lorelei, and Surge, can all cause problems if his Scyther isn't fast enough - so here's the question, how close to their level does he have to be, to BE fast enough? Hell, will Agatha be a problem because he's not level 50 yet, or will he have to grind to 50 JUST to beat her??

@@meltingkeith7046 At first I was going to call bullshit on the Bide hitting ghosts thing before remembering the reason that he wouldn't have brought it up in the Eevee video was because Eevee was a normal type and couldn't take damage from the Ghost-Type moves in the Tower so it would've been useless. As for the Agatha question, the issue is that she has *THREE* Ghost-Types, all of which have Confuse Ray, one with Toxic, and two with Hypnosis and Dream Eater. And since Bide only had 10 PP, and only inflicts double the damage done to the user, that means you'd be looking at a scenario where you'd have to get hit with Night Shade enough times within 3 uses of Bide to KO each Ghost, that none of them use Confuse Ray (or you don't hit yourself), switch out, or heal with Dream Eater (assuming the damage doesn't count towards Bide since I know sleep merely *pauses* the effect of Bide rather than full-on interrupt it.) Plus, since he would *need* to get hit in order to inflict damage, his HP would be a *HUGE* consideration, especially since he can't heal in battle. Even if Haunter's HP was the absolute bare *minimum* and thus would only require 1 Nightshade to KO it, the Scyther would need at *LEAST* 288 HP to survive with 1 HP after all the Nightshades. And if the Haunter has more than 110 HP, which is definitely not out of the question, then he would need to be lv 100 with *max* HP just to, again, survive with *ONE* HP. At that point, it becomes a question of whether or not it's even possible to get the RNG necessary to win at *all.* So even if Bide is an option in RBY, Yellow would be the game to play not just for the sake of sanity, but also just adhering to the spirit of the challenge at all.

Scyther can learn Mimic and Rest, so all you'll need to do is heal using Rest and hope you don't get hurt, or Mimic Night Shade or Wing Attack and use that to damage the ghosts (there's also Acid on Arbok, but that's not recommended) And hey, you could say, "but then that's just hoping for good luck - which is really boring" - ALL of his videos do this at one point or another, why should it be an issue with this one?

Leech Life buff was not that useful for Zubat line. Like DisasterLord said the Zubat line really got better over the years. ( Which is not the case for most gen 1 and gen 2 pokemon).Moves like Brave Bird, U-Turn and Roost really made Crobat better. Even Golbat is useful with Eviolite.

So predictions before it begins...this will be tough. As he mentioned in one his previous videos, Krillin is barely stronger than a Zubat and had better stats than a Zubat whose base stats are a jokingly low 245, it's highest being speed at 55. On the one hand, Zubat's Flying/Poison typing gives it very few weaknesses, but little in the way of defenses for common elements. Lt. Surge who is never normally that hard, is likely to be a serious problem due to the sheer speed of Electric types being so much faster and good special attackers to bully Zubat's meager special defense. Not to mention Sabrina, who already has hard hitting Psychic types but will be dealing super effective damage, they will be absolute walls in this run without lot's of grinding. While Zubat does have Bite and Leech life to hit Pyschics who have low physical defense, with how little power a Zubat has in it's Attacks to begin with it will need tons of confusion luck and grinding to stand a realistic chance, especially to the Elite Four. Red may not be a viable challenge to do. On the plus, while Zubat's gen one movepool is terrible it at least has access to confuse ray, a 100 accuracy move at level 21. It's only attacking moves by level up are Leech Life, Bite and Wing Attack. All relatively low damaging moves at the later levels, and Leech Life it's only recovery move at a base power of 20. I suspect he'll go the usual method of getting off double teams after it learns the tm and mixing it with confuse ray which will be effective at lowering the risk of getting hit, but anything that does is almost certainly going to flat out knock Zubat out cold.Though this got me thinking....since avoiding hits with things like Double Team is acceptable, why not things like Substitute to shield Zubat while it sets up? Yeah, you lose a move slot, but more often than not, these pokemon challenges run off of only one real attack and Substitute is a much more reliable shield from damage. It probably wouldn't last you through the size of entire teams at the later levels, but since Zubat won't be surviving any hits anyway, it might be more usable since the hp loss is barely going to make any difference. Zubat does have access to the toxic tm which is respectably powerful, but Zubat is far too fragile to play a stall game and the best it could hope for is using to soften opponents up a little, but then between confuse ray and double team, you have to lose Bite or Wing Attack which leaves Zubat with only one attack type and no coverage spread. It can learn Mega Drain by tm, but that's just a sort of more powerful leech life, which might have some use, but a Zubat's abysmal special stat means it's only going to heal somewhat better than Leech Life could. Verdict: This is going to be brutal.

I can see it now: Brock is the rock type gym leader which means I need to grind. Luckily, leech life is super effective against both grass AND poison so grinding isn’t difficult. I get to level 10 and learn supersonic. It’s a very low accuracy move so I won’t be using it much. A little later, I get bite a normal type move in gen 1 so it’s useless against Brock. I grind some more and get to level 21 and learn confuse ray which will be very useful down the road. I’m very over leveled at this point and I sweep his team with some confusion luck.

I think he can get this one done although Sabrina and the rival are probably going to be a nightmare. Also quick bet: I bet that 3 of his 4 moves for the final battle will be double team, toxic and confuse ray. If I lose I’ll insert whatever challenge you want into my list of challenges below on this video and all future challenge videos until he does it. Edit: well I lost again. Surprised there was no double team for this one since zubat is so weak. Anyway here’s my challenges: Pokemon Emerald using only magcargo (it’s basically the abomasnow challenge in a region more designed to kick its ass) Pokemon emerald using only normal type moves except hidden power, metronome or assist. (I think it could be interesting. Also for anyone who brings up ghost types, both foresight and odor sleuth are things) Pokemon Heartgold using only a sunkern (a sequel to a previous challenge and to really see if Pokemon has gotten easier as time has gone on) Edit: Pokemon Black using only 1 Pikachu Pokemon X or Y using only route 2 Pokemon (I lost a bet on a previous challenge so I’m obligated) Pokemon super mystery dungeon without using items (as someone who didn’t know you could use certain items in boss fights until the second to last boss, believe me, this can be brutal) Pokemon mystery dungeon blue or red rescue team without using moves (chose this game since it seemed the hardest while remaining fair as in some of the later games the A attack only does a fixed 5 damage).

Double team takes away the challenge in these challenges since almost every Pokemon could just avoid attacks and PP stall a super-effective move (well, not in Gen 1, but you could still avoid attacks and take out an opponent easily). And making a Pokemon invincible doesn't show off its capibilities in a Pokemon challenge; Double Team is only a last resort. Remember: in competitive battling, Accupressure, Double team and Minimize are against the rules.

I actually only discovered like a month ago I also have that. I honestly never thought anything was adnormal, I just assumed whenever somebody talked about seeing a memory it was figurative. It likely explains why spelling came so hard to me (that and the diagnosis of dyslexia I didn't get till high school) but otherwise I assume everything else about my life is pretty normal. It even has advantages that it is apparently basically it is almost impossible to get severe PTSD.

So after 40-some-odd videos, this was the first of them where I looked over and actually saw what some of the original pokemon designs in Red were. I hope one day you'll learn the joys of Gen 1 Mimic. I casually do solo Pokemon challenges on my own in Red all the time and Mimic is a lifesaver for Pokemon with shallow move pools. Either Mimic a move that offers better coverage or Mimic a stat-boosting move to abuse the badge boost glitch.
