Frankly, who cares who was faster - that was just top flippin' entertainment; top work GTN. Hats off to Joe though for smashing around the bike course on an antique (with a self-destructing tub) and for having the cojones to race in that kit. At least the Rudy Project lid did afford him some anonymity on the bike leg, I guess.
@pianoplayersebastian4 ай бұрын
Yeah some rumors on the bike course thought it might be Faris or some other legend from back then. 😂 Noone knew and with no name on the bib it was a real mystery for all of us out on the course.
@peterjaray85184 ай бұрын
this video will become legendary in the next years. hat off to joe skipper that he did this with you guys. however, he should maybe consider racing with the speedo in Kona too. It would confuse the heck out of the competition for sure.

Saw you both on the race track and cheered you on when you came past me. Even had some time to chat with you Mark after the race in the transition zone. Joe did look awesome with that old kit 😅. Kudos to him. Man the weather was appalling.

No need to bring the english weather with you 😉 Age group 60 and older were allowed to wear a neoprene on all distances. No wonder you had only short notice because everything was communicated exclusively in German. By the way I was doing the middle distance and moral wasn’t at it’s peak after 96 wet and freezing km on the bike. But seeing you coming the other way right at the beginning of my run made me smile for the rest of it 😄 Such a great video and kudos to Joe for being such a great sport 👍
@bbnd54764 ай бұрын
Freezing? It was wet, but the temperature was perfect for racing!
@jonasvieth4 ай бұрын
@@bbnd5476 well good on you 👍 It was probably more the moral than pace that took a bit of a dip for me as well but I definitely needed my rain jersey. As they say there is no bad weather only bad equipment 😉 I have seen athletes stopping at the petrol station to jump up and down, at a police car to sit in there and at an ambulance to cover under a blanket. Maybe the fact that we had a little heat wave before played a part as well. Anyway, gutted for everyone who DNFed and I hope they can strike back next year ✌️

I think I overtook Joe about five times on the bike. 😂 But with that helmet, I had no clue who it was. The biggest mystery for me was who was actually wearing that awesome kit! Some rumors said it had to be Faris, but he would have dropped me more in the swim. Joe was slightly stronger on the climbs, which is why he was able to catch up again and again. 💪 I got dropped a bit on the run. Nevertheless, it was a pleasure to see Joe racing. 👍
