I have one that i have been working on for a while(it's been on the back burner for a few months) that has a few differences. I moved both ends to where they come out of the same spot on the monkey fist(1" steel core), then added another strand looped over(middle) and started a 4 strand sinnet knot to lock it in next to the monkey fist. I then added a core strand(a piece of paracord with the core strands left in) to the middle of my sinnet knot and then transitioned to a 4 plait. I plaited a few inches for the first belly then trimmed the tails to different lengths to add taper and removed the core strands at the halfway mark of each tail to further induce taper. After that I began plaiting an 8 plait belly over my first belly and core with each strand having the core strands removed for the second belly. I'll add an overlay when I get back to it and finally wax it once I'm finished to add a little extra mass and smooth the rollout.

Sorry to hear about your long term relationship, same happened to me a couple years ago, just wish I would’ve ended it sooner or never gotten into it. No kids involved but all the time and money invested and wasted will never be recovered. Looking forward to your full build parawhip video. You need to put a dowel rod in the handle to give it rigidity to help you better control the whip and get more satisfying pops. You’ll want to watch some whip cracking tutorials so you don’t beat yourself up. I’ve watched videos of Harrison Ford practicing and it’s mostly slow and gentle moves. You have to remember also it’s the sound department putting those very loud cracks in and not necessarily the actor making so the whip noise.

Thank you! The only thing I don't like about this method is that there's a single strand of gutted 550 connecting the monkey's fist to the rest of the whip. I doubt it'll ever be an issue as you're never really putting tension on the monkey's fist when you use the whip, but it's just not very solid feeling. I'm confused =.=

Glad I could introduce you to paracord! As for the name, it's really just "paracord" at least here in Canada and the US. It might be called something different where you live.
@Skinflaps_MeatslapperАй бұрын
You should be able to find it by searching "550 paracord". It's a kernmantle construction, a 32 strand nylon woven sheath around a 7 strand inner core, with 550lb tensile strength. It was originally used for parachute risers due to its small size and high strength, hence the "para" in the name.

if you make the core full of BBs, it cracks better and has a more "solid" feel to it. beyond this, the longer the whip, the louder the crack. my favorite whip i've made is 5 feet (i made it for someone else who reneged on payment, so it's now mine, hollow core but cracks like it's full through and through), but the best and loudest one i made was 8 feet, "solid" core. be aware, though, the BBs ones do a lot more damage than the hollow ones. mind your eyes.

if you don't have sinew, you can use the guts of the paracord, just attach it with a constricter knot on both ends
@MegaDman4211 ай бұрын
Would it be possible to do the artificial sinew part with something cheaper and easier to find like electrical tape, so it stretches and compresses that bit? Or would it need to be the artificial sinew?
@TheWeaversofEternity11 ай бұрын
For sure, you don't have to buy the artificial sinew if you don't want to. You can try using the inner guts from the paracord or electrical tape as you mentioned. With the tape though, I'd be careful not to use too much as it could affect the flexibility of the whip.
@MegaDman4211 ай бұрын
@@TheWeaversofEternity from what I'm seeing that post is the strong inner core that is supposed to be less flexible, right?
@Skinflaps_MeatslapperАй бұрын
@@MegaDman42 electrical tape will work, but be warned that by itself the whip will eventually become too floppy as the tape and adhesive deteriorates. Don't use too much either, if you get too many layers it will tear and you'll have a weak spot where the whip bends sharply instead of gradually curving. You want a gradual transition of flexibility from the handle to the fall...without that smooth transition, the whip will be difficult to crack. Artificial sinew will provide more strength and rigidity to the parts you need more stiffness in. Find it at a local craft shop, it's super cheap. Before you wrap anything around the core, be sure to knot or whip the core at the end of the bb's to prevent them from working their way further down the core, you want them to be locked in place forever. You can add a single layer of electrical tape over the core, but do go over it with sinew. Wrap it super tight at the beginning, and then gradually relax that tension the further down you go. Go all the way to the end of the bb's and maybe an inch further, build up the sinew just past the last bb so you have a tapered transition, then work your way back up to the base, filling in the gaps between your last sinew wrap. Continue back down halfway to further stiffen that portion and then half hitch it a few times to end the wrap. Hockey tape works well to bind and cover the sinew to give you a better surface to plait over. Just remember with a whip, everything you're doing is meant to gradually transition smaller, lighter, and looser as you reach the end. Taper your fall, taper the loose end of your cracker, give it every chance to do the work for you. When you drop strands, drop one at a time rather than two, and don't have them both end in the same spot...that's a harsh and abrupt transition that'll create what we call in the whipmaking community as kinks. Rather than cutting the strand flat, cut it diagonally and fuse it to the core strands so it tapers better. When you hold the whip up and let the end hang, everything should gently curve down rather than bend sharply in one spot. You shouldn't be able to feel where the strand drops and transitions are if you did everything right. The cracker on a whip this size can be extremely thin, just a single core strand of paracord about 18" long is all you need. Twist it at full length, then fold it and let it twist around itself, rather than doubled up twice, will be plenty. Take the loop end and stick it into the back of your needle, and push the needle through the tip of the fall just behind the fused end. Take the tail of the cracker and pass it through the loop you just pushed through the fall to secure it (that's called a lark's head). Tiny whips need thin crackers, make them too fat and you're making it harder on yourself. Finally, roll your whip between two hard surfaces (like between a 2x4 and the floor) to work all the strands uniformly together and get rid of any gaps in the plaiting. An optional step is to soak it in paraffin wax to give it more weight and spring, which is very beneficial on such a small and lightweight whip, but it isn't necessary.

Thank you brother! If you need any extra help, just DM me as I had to cut out a lot of detail to make the video a reasonable length.

Go for the full size bull whip, if only to show how to manage a large number of cords. You are really adventurous and not afraid to try offbeat things. People wnatiung to push on the envelope appreciate that.

I made a sling out of 550 on deployment. Not a bad way to pass the time on post, especially when you have a target.

If you like whips or maybe youve thought of maybe keeping one close by incase. Well i will just tell you a hack that i figured out by trial and error. All you need is the 770 and 550 paracord and the paracord thats really small in diameter it has one white strand inside of the core. Which you will remove all inner core strands from all three para cords. The 770 and 550 should be filled with bbs. And the tiny para cord will be fill with the pellets out of a shitgun shell.teeny tinny little bb's and yes it is rather hard to do but you can do it. I didnt mention and lenths because you can decide how long you want ir need it. And the snap kracker end i used 90lb braided fishing line. And it as well can be rather tedious to unbraid in order to get the perfect length. Ether way ,long story short. Pick out something straight and short that will disapear in the palm as in once you grip it in hand it cant be seen. But attach that for the handle and the entire whip once your finnished you will find that the entire whip can be rolled up inside your hand. And you can put it inside any pocket you please. Just reach inside find the handle . Once youve retrived that end ive found it can be produced and functional in seconds. Ive made sevral and fugured out better things with each build. I hope that my time was nit wasted but i just wanted to give you another idea to ponder on the next time your bored. Ir when you come across some damaged shotgun shells and notice all those tiny pellets.. as im sure you coukd imagine as you having filled some paracord with bbs. It would be hard to nit think about the very thing but ,ohh i bet that would take forever. Yes and no. If your happy time seems to dissapeer. Its howver does not change the fact of how hard it can be to find a perticular brand of para cord for the tiny bbs to fit..and yes it still hurts when you pop yourself . Becareful not to used a cord that the tiny bbs can excape from ,cause as you get to popping those little basturds will fly out and ,youll shoot your eye out kid.. thanks and take care.. [I]s knowing Better 🤔

I think it's illegal to do this where I live lmao. I don't know what the government thinks I'm capable of, but they need to watch less indiana jones I think lol.

You should check out WhipWorks tutorial on making a bullwhip. Super detailed and he even has blueprints on the different parts of the whip's length. it's a 4 or 5 part series.

Nice! I saw a video on The King Of Random's channel where they did something like that! Seems like an easy way to make a bullwhip handle for sure.
