Sir I have a question and please If you can help me , I'm an IMG from Egypt. I'm applying for MRCS exams for the purpose of GMC registration dt some delays in PLAB booking , can I look for internal medicine or radiology training in UK with portfolio supporting these specialties but registered to GMC by having MRCS ??

Hello, All speciality applications look for commitment to speciality. You could apply radiology as it has its own set of requirements. Medicine would be tricky as you would be applying for something at an extreme opposite end from your current job profile.

@UKDreamers I intend to have neurology or radiology , I will be practicing either of the specialties for 18 months before applying for training in UK , doesn't that be enough as a commitment to the specialty to be accepted for a training programme ?

Hi sir, I really need your opinion on my query too I'm MS ENT In India , but I wish to switch my field to Neurosurgery/Orthopaedic surgery (since I've always wanted either of the fields ,but more inclined to Ortho) in the UK Is it possible? if YES how can I do it ? ( I'm still in INDIA) How do I do it After MRCS ?? And is it possible to switch to other field if I have cleared MRCS ENT ? OR DO I sit for MRCS Again ??

Hello, Honestly I don't know if that could be done or not. You already have done ENT. Surgical training is highly competitive & you can't apply for core training as you have done more than 18 months in surgical speciality. So getting core training is not possible for you. Best way would be to apply for MTI in ENT. Have a feel how NHS works & see how it works for you. I've made videos for MTI ENT please have a look.

Hi,I have Mrcs, basic surgical traing from Ireland, have post graduation degree from native country in General surgery,my query is, Could I find fellowship in general surgery subspecility, such as baratrics surgery? Could I switch to urology despite the fact I have general surgery experience.

Hello, you have full MRCS you could easily find a trade grade job first & then apply for Urology higher speciality training.

Very brave move Aman. I wish you best of luck in your new specialty. Is there any other drawbacks working in EM apart from rota in UK as I am also hard-core EM guy, planning to move to UK once I'll clear my osce. Thanks

Great move. Its better to cross the line and suffer the consequences than staring at line for the rest of your life

I love Emergency Medicine, UK is a different world. You would love many things & hate them at the same time. You would learn about evidence based practice, learn paediatrics em, geriatric em, general practice, joint manipulations, Ultrasound & what not. That comes with a price, if u love working late, as there are lot of twilight shifts. If u are a team player, if u are a safe doctor for patient & yourself. Fatigue is always there. But if u really overcome all of these hindrances, UK EM would be lovable to you. It pays well too 😃

Hello. Is it possible to switch to audivestibular medicine from ENT? Do you think it is worth it? I know there are very few training positions for that.
