I actually used to google translate short stories back and forth for laughs in like 2009-2011, but it improved so much that the results became less interesting. There were a few pieces lost in translation, but the gist was always the same. I'm surprised this worked as well as it did -er, as poorly as it did lol :) I'd be interested to see how it further improves!

@@pianobooks42 I've found google translate is much better in some languages than others, so it probably "works" better if you choose a lot of the languages it's bad with. in my experience it's gotten pretty good with french and spanish but is still absolutely abysmal with swedish.

So, I had an idea for a video. Since covid is keeping us all in our respective countries. I was thinking, I’d love to “invite you” to a real Australian kid’s birthday party (I would have totally invited you to mine if I’d known you as a kid)! The concept being, you make all the recipes from a traditional Australian birthday, so you and your family can experience the taste of an Australian party without having to hop on a plane 😊 Australians often have huge parties and give very relaxed open invitations to people they meet. Obv. It’s different for all Australians, but the staples at most parties that I went to were: Fairy bread (open white bread sandwiches, made with butter and hundreds and thousands) Sausage sizzle (a slice of white bread, spread with butter, and filled with a sausage, caramelised onions, and tomato sauce) Pavlova (not small or individual meringues, but huge spongey cakes, decorated with fresh whipped cream, passion fruit and strawberries) Pizza shapes (these are crackers with flavouring on them - always a party favourite) Tim tams (these biscuits must be eaten with tea or hot water, because you have to bite off a little from each end, suck some tea through it like a straw, and then pop it in your mouth - this is how we always eat them) - last thing to be eaten at a party (usually by the adults) Burger rings and cheese twisties (these are a party must have - they’re kind of like Funyans and twiglets where looks are concerned, but have a completely different flavour. Lamingtons (chocolate of course) Jatz crackers served with cheese and cabanossi (I have no idea why this was a trend but they were literally at every party I went to growing up) Honey joys (these are like muffin cups filled with a toffee/cornflake ball which actually tasted pretty great And last but not least floppy Anzac biscuits (home made were and are way better than anything the shops ever made) - they are not meant to be crunchy - they are meant to be floppy, chewy, and full of golden syrup! I’ll link all the recipes/items below if you want to make this video. Here’s saying from my family to yours - you’re all invited to our party - lots of love from the land down under! www.chelsea.co.nz/browse-recipes/honey-crackles/ www.donnahay.com.au/recipes/anzac-biscuits (recipe edit - use 1/2 cup golden syrup, not 1/3) www.chelsea.co.nz/browse-recipes/chocolate-lamingtons/ www.myrecipes.com/extracrispy/how-to-make-fairy-bread www.theflavorbender.com/the-perfect-pavlova-recipe/ www.arnotts.com/products/tim-tam/classic/original www.arnotts.com/products/shapes theaustralianfoodshop.com/product/burger-rings-90g/ www.google.com/search?q=cheese+twisties&rlz=1C9BKJA_enNZ898NZ898&oq=cheese+twisties&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.3440j0j4&hl=en-GB&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgdii=TSQTBmn-ogyU0M&imgrc=8LyoZBW5Or523M

I’ll leave the recipe I know for it here in case anyone else wants to try it: 1 tablespoon butter 1 can sweetened condensed milk (soy condensed milk works too) ¼ cup cocoa powder (30 g) chocolate sprinkles In a pot over low heat, melt the butter, condensed milk, and cocoa powder, stirring continuously until you can see the bottom of the pot for 2-3 seconds when dragging a spatula through. Pour onto a greased plate, then chill for 1 hour. Shape and roll the chilled mixture into balls. Roll the balls in chocolate sprinkles! You won’t regret it!
