2015 While doing the Honolulu marathon a older Japanese man wearing a traditional wood sandles (Geta) with feet bleeding, ran by me while walking. He ran by me running backwards and cheering on his teamates. Boy that put my discomfort in perspective.

So what you're saying is I beat Mark in a marathon this week. All it took was him blowing up his legs for a week before, wearing horrible footwear, and having the worst race of his life, while I hit my PB. Good game, Mark! I'll be submitting my application to take your position sometime later this month!
@gtnАй бұрын

I can see myself😂 Mark, I had no idea you were running in crocs! I saw you at the start, got starstrucked and called you Matt (duh) and then I threw my half full cup of electrolytes at you by mistake after 15k. Super well done mate!!

haha, we are sure that Mark appreciated the cooling down when you threw the drink at him!

And people say I'm as nutty as a fruitcake! Let's just say "I get it Mark," but will happily let you keep this accolade mate. My ultimate would be to take my 31 km tyre pull PB up to the full marathon distance for my 60th... but NOT in Crocs I have to say.

Are things like this going to trigger Crocs into wading (yes pun intended) into the supershoe market with their own carbon plated design? Im here for it.

I ran in crocs for seven years and loved it (much cheaper, more comfy, easier, less injuries). I did loads of 5 & 10k races, and a few half marathons without any difficulty, even got a few PBs. However, my first marathon in crocs was hard work on my feet, it felt like the larger volume of training and distances was causing aches and pains. I did my second marathon in shoes and it went much better. It all depends on what you train in and get used to, if people run in barefoot shoes, why not crocs?

I knew he would fail after watching the first 3 minutes of the video. Choosing the smaller size Crocs goes against everyting we know about choosing running shoes; alway go one size up as your feet will get larger during the effort. The cramps he got are the results of unnecessary voluntary contractions to keep his toes from touching the front of his shoes. A more relaxed fit; and the results would have been a lot different!
@bencritterson64026 күн бұрын
If you go a size up you have no control. It’s all about preference. Whichever fit you go with you will be making a compromise. Also let’s not act like crocs and running shoes are the same thing. I don’t think any size croc will be good for a marathon.
@marie-louisekarlander2366Ай бұрын
I was impressed by your race when saw it in Strava. I did not know you ran in Crocs or like we say in Sweden 🇸🇪 in foppatofflor. Really crazy both to do it but been able to run so fast. Marie-Louise

You can learn to run in any shoes as long as they fit or are a little too big. Your body figures out how to get efficient within the sloppy parameters. But if your shoes are too small, you’re screwed.

#CoachesCorner after nearly year of no training, due to spinal surgery in October 2023. Any advice of how to get back into it and rebuild my fitness. Last year I was a 1hr48 half marathon and consistent 23min 5k. Today just did a 5k in 32min with having to take 5walking breaks. Swim pace is only a few seconds slower and have been too afraid to hope on the bike just yet incase it completely gone. Along with been 3stone heavier😢 Thanks for any tips you have.

Had a kid who quit the track team because he brought Crocs to practice, and I said I don't care run anyway. He said he brought the wrong shoes because he thought we were lifting weights on the day, which also didn't matter because they aren't weightroom shoes either. He was just looking for a reason to quit.
