Can I Still Beat My Old Mario Maker Levels?

Hi folks, with Mario Maker 1 closing down soon, I decided to spend a bit of time playing some of my old Mario Maker 1 levels, including Red Canyon. Red Canyon is one of my tougher SMM1 levels and the only one that features a midair shell jump. Hope you enjoy the vid!

Agree with Barb, Nintendo should preserve this game and the user created levels. It's like in movies, not many people going to watch Casablanca and Citizen Kane these days, but that doesn't mean they can be deleted and forgotten forever.

Speaking of shutting down access to games, like MM1, Ross Scott (Accursed Farms on KZbin) is attempting to force companies to stop making games unplayable by filing actions with various governmental agencies. His efforts are focused on Ubisoft shutting down access to The Crew, and the most effective efforts are going to be in Europe and Australia. But I would encourage you to take a look at his video on the effort and help out if able.

Funny story, a friend of mine has two original Barb paintings. One is an ink brush painting of the Snake from metal gear, and the other is a painting of the Street Fighter 2 feudal Japan stage. Really good work❤❤

Considering how it was not only your first level, but that it was from the early days of Mario Maker, Hot Pursuit was really good. Even going by current standards, it's not anything special, but it's still a pretty solid level.

NGL, there is something very cathartic about seeing Barb die continuously to his own levels. It's kinda like seeing the warden in their own prison cell. Also, Barb before trying his own levels again: "Nintendo should preserve SMM." Barb after playing Red Canyon: "A corpse should be left well alone."

I've never seen your channel before, this video just popped up in my recommended feed out of nowhere and I clicked on it. Your idea for putting a play only version of the MM1 servers on NSO is great, and your chat was wack as fuck for being so flippant about game preservation. You're absolutely correct. Games are an incredibly complex multidiscipline art form that takes the time and passion of talented people to create, and the profit prioritization of capitalism shouldn't be allowed to destroy that history and passion just because art doesn't make enough money to validate its existence in the eyes of the system. World affairs rant aside, some of these levels are really sick, I would've liked to have played them before the servers were taken down!

All of MM1's levels (with intact MM1 physics) should be added to MM2 as free DLC. Maybe port over some modes while they're at it. Add MM1 and MM2 content to MM3 when it comes out and so on.

I normally dont like when the video deviates from the progression of clearing the level, however when you were talking about the preservation of old games, i couldn't agree more.
