Can I turn a local French MTB circuit into an adventure?

I've been cycling in our local French forest for years. It's a great circuit - full of ancient trees, where kings and presidents used to hunt boar and deer. The forest tracks demand technical ability and fitness. I'm lucky to live so close.
But when even this becomes a bit too familiar, how I can turn it into something adventurous and really challenging? A short winter's day and a spell of dry weather might provide the answer..
