yeah its super weird how asus has it listed ram us upgrade-able to 8gb, but this is proof its not

Unfortunately, it is NOT guaranteed to be working with an extra drive. I installed a 256GB SSD card in the slot, as you showed. The SSD is a Patriot P320 256GB Internal SSD - NVMe PCIe Gen 3x4 - M.2 2280, so it should be perfectly compatible. When I boot into the bios, it is there, and when I load Windows 10, it shows in the Device Manager, but not in the File Explorer, or most importantly, Disk Manager fails to see it too. So, I have no option to initialise it. I've tried a few things to get it working, including a fresh instal of Windows 10, but nope, still getting the same as above. I even took it to the local repair shop, and the chap there tried putting a different SSD in it, and the laptop didn't even see his SSD at all. He had no idea why, and gave up. He did say I could bring it back in on Monday, when he would have one or two more colleges to try and help. I will try upgrading it on Monday to Windows 11. I left the power unit at a friend's house and I won't have it back until Monday, and I don't want to take the chance of changing OS without it plugged into the mains. I'll maybe update this post if I can get it working, but at the moment, it looks like I will have to put the new SSD into an external housing, and use it that way, assuming the OS sees it that way. Which is annoying, as it would be so much better as an internal one, than external. Sigh!

@@ToxicNerd Hey, thanks a lot for the reply, and suggestion, and the Google Drive files. My friend will drop me off the power unit tomorrow. I can't do anything till then, the laptop is too low on power just now, to even boot up properly. Luckily I do have my desktop, and a new laptop, that work fine, and will help me set up and try the fix. I'll definitely post another comment tomorrow, to let you know how it goes. I do hope it works. It is so frustrating. And this is a laptop that I promised to give to my friend. He is a wonderful artist, but also a bit of a Luddite when it comes to PC tech. His crappy 10yr old laptop that he was using, had finally died, a long and lingering death, He is keen to receive the E510, which will feel like a super computer to him. You'll make two people very happy, if it works. Cheers. :)

@@ToxicNerd I've never done this before and wonder if you could possibly help guide on what to do? So far, I downloaded "Hard Disk not found - Intel RST VMD Controller 9A0B.zip", and unzipped to a folder, with the same name, minus ".zip". I have two blank SD cards, 32GTB and 64GB, formatted as exFAT, which I can change to NTFS or FAT32, if necessary. I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I need to then use Rufus to create a bootable SD? I've not used Rufus before. Is there a simple step by step way to do this? And then I boot the laptop from the SD card, via the bios I assume? Oh, and which of the 4 Rufus (listed below) should I download use? rufus-4.5.exe rufus-4.5p.exe rufus-4.5_x86.exe rufus-4.5_arm64.exe I'll be most grateful, if you can assist me do what I need to do, to try this solution. I'm not a total newbie with PCs, I have built several desktops, but I tend to just learn stuff as I need to, which leaves a lot of gaps in my knowledge, and can be a slow way to go about it. Cheers.

I have an ASUS E410MA-B (14"). I added a 512GB Western Digital Blue PCI-E 3x4 SSD. I cloned the eMMC drive and used the SSD as the boot drive. Next, I hid the drive letter for the eMMC drive so it does not show on the desktop. But, I kept the eMMC drive Win 11 intact in case the laptop changes owners.

thanks for this video. what is the process of installing windows 10/11 on the new drive? also do these E510 laptop have a micro SD slot on right hand side? on websites sekking them it doesnt mention in specs but in photos it looks like there is one and when you showed your video inside it looked like microSD next to usb . one more thing .. how does streaming full hd videos from youtube look like on screen? thanks

I have the same model and it doesn't have this side entry for a microSD, it works fine on KZbin and with WIN11 and WIN10, but WIN11 has some bugs (bugs that don't interfere with use, they are very discreet bugs). It's not very good for games, but for other uses it's very good and the battery has a pretty good life.

@@ThinkerHaistTV i dont think you can upgrade anything in these laptops, they are like the inside of an android phone in a laptop case with keyboard. I ended up not buying one as I can do most tasks on my Honor Lite phoen anyway and just use an old windows 7 emachines for any typing of documents etc... but if you can get one of these cheap then fair enough but a used macbook Air might be better.. i also liek using Imac mini mainly for watching youtube a bit of internet...

Hi, no just one slot as per video. That's the only upgrade option.

it had 2 slots one is occupied with the operating ram ssd a 2230, and the other for a back up.ssd. if you want a bigger drive you can swap out the 2230

3:13 I'm confused because of what you said here, only because I don't know where the original SSD is on the motherboard (if there even is one). If I were to increase the storage of the (C:) drive that's already in my laptop, would I have to replace the one that's (theoretically) already in the motherboard? I'm asking because I want to know what NOT to do; I actually want a second (D:) storage drive separate from the main drive, one I'm not planning to installing Windows on. I want to keep Windows on (C:) while having a second clean drive. Is upgrading the existing drive my only option? What should I do? Also, what kind of screw do I need to attach the SSD drive?

You put windows onto the ssd you want to use as a your boot ssd so he’s choosing to boot off the new ssd since it will be faster so he’s putting windows onto it
