Yes Rick mate I have never found that fully researching any memory when building is really the only thing to do and if one doesn't then they have only themselves to blame.

@@Britec09 The challenge is that the QVL is only a list of what was tested and therefore not all inclusive. Want to run 128GB of RAM on Ryzen 7000 (which the CPU and Motherboard say they support)? Chances are the QVL has never been updated to include that amount of RAM.

QVL's can be a bit of a minefield when you're in the UK. When I was looking for my last DDR4 kit, I looked at the QVL list for the board and finding makes that UK retailers had in stock was a nightmare. We can't just pop down to our local Micro Center and pick it off the shelf like they can in the US. I managed to find some in the end, but boy was it a task!

I think theres some duff information in this video. You do not need to look for XMP RAM for Intel systems and you dont need to look for Expo RAM for AMD systems either. Expo works on Intel platforms and XMP works on AMD platforms. I use Expo settings on my 12th Gen Intel rig. As soon as you put an Expo kit into the board Expo shows up where the XMP settings would be. If you look at MSI's Intel motherboard QVL lists for DDR5 they approve plenty of Expo RAM for Intel systems. Nobody seems to be aware that both Expo and XMP are enabled on both platforms and have been since the vendors added both types of settings to all of their motherboards.

Okay bud. Need some help then. I have 4 sticks of corsair CMH32GX5M2E6000C36. I have a MSI Project Zero motherboard with a 7800x3d. Used PC parts to build the PC. Bought this Ram. Built PC. Fired up the PC. I have no option to choose Expo. Only XMP. How to I get Expo on my Ram or am I effed?

I've read multiple sources claiming that as long as it's SK Hynix, it doesn't matter if it's XMP or EXPO. It (the RAM) will work at the advertised speeds with little effort in tweaking in the BIOS.

Hey, I need some advice on a RAM configuration issue with my new build! Problem: I'm building a new PC with an MSI B650M WiFi Gaming motherboard and I have 4 sticks of DDR5 RAM but there's a mix: - 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6200 MHz (XMP). - 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 MHz (XMP/EXPO). I know mixing RAM with different speeds and profiles (XMP and EXPO) can be problematic, so I’m trying to find the best way to get them to work together stably. My Proposed Solution: 1. I plan to install only the 6000 MHz EXPO kit first and enable the EXPO profile to let the motherboard automatically set the timings, frequency, and voltage. 2. I’ll note down the settings (timings, frequency, and voltage) applied by the EXPO profile. 3. Then, I’ll install the 6200 MHz XMP kit and disable the XMP/EXPO profiles in the BIOS. 4. I’ll manually input the settings I noted earlier to match the EXPO kit’s configuration. 5. Finally, I’ll run some stability tests to make sure everything works fine with all 4 sticks installed. What’s Your Take Do you think this method will work to achieve a stable setup, or is there a better approach you would recommend for mixed XMP and EXPO RAM on an AM5 motherboard? Yes Brian as I mentioned in someone else's comment I always researched the specs of the memory I was fitting with the board, CPU etc specs. I mean that if you do not then you only have yourself to blame when you come to setting the memory speeds for example. Having said that I have never really found much difference when setting the memory speeds in my admittedly older Ivy Bridge build.

yes u can i have for 1 year XMP DDR5 on my Asus MB AM5 X670E, and it s works very well. only DD AMD expo 2 profil has provide more performance. AMD expo 1 are under DDR5 XMP without overclock profile. DD5 vengeance XMP on x670E.

Thanks, now I know that I have made a fk mistake. I bought ram for XMP/EXPO compatibility but when I always enable EXPO I always get system problems when booting. I just checked the software of the Ram manufacturer and it says XMP version. So I've had the wrong RAM in my PC for a year now, the ram was for Intel and I need it for AMD. How so they can lable it with compatible for AMD/Intel when its clearly for Intel. Now I have to buy new ones because I can't send mine back - it's going to be expensive again.

I've never bothered to look at the QVL lists, and I never used pre-set memory profiles. I've always manually configured my ram. RAM speed is not really all that important for gaming. The higher the speed, the higher the latency. Thus 8000 mt/s DDR5 RAM will only be a few FPS faster then 6000 mt/s RAM, so save your money and don't bother with the fastest RAM.

I use a AMD platform with Intel recommended ram, It all works fine with the XMP profile. It is just a preset . It is important to use the right ram for the right motherboard tho. The xmp profiles does not matter.

I've been having a nightmare after upgrading to amd. Bought some tforce delta xmp ram within fours days my pc started playing up and i figured it out to be one of the ram sticks stopped working. Bought some corsair dominator platinum. Fours days later and my pc started to blue screen and the bios rest its self. Cpu light came up on the motherboard resealed it, then the vag light came on. I took the gpu out and put it back in again then it started work alright. I swear its the xmp ram messing with my system. I havent put the xmp profile on and will see what happens if not im gonna try out some expo ram. Im not a pc wizard so all of it confusions the hell out of me lol

816k subs and only 7k views? yeah.. About the video itself, non-sense. XMPs and EXPOs are nothing else than a confirmed preset. You can run both XMPs and EXPO rams at all times everywhere, but you won't be able to use a preset of XMP/EXPO everwhere. That means, that if you if are on AMD platform and you select XMP you may encounter crashes due to instability of selected parameters - and that means that you will need to manually tweak. Thats all that there is too it. Want to know if you will have issues with specific RAM on your MB? Google it and look for reviews. All RAMs work on all platforms (check only max supported clocks on your MB/CPU), pre-configed presets by manufacturer is a different story.

Bought a 6400 2x32gb ram on my first am5 build. Was "xmp optimized". Not in the compatible list for the mobo too lol. Just oced it manually fine. They are adding more dumb shit. At least it was $20 cheap than then expo counterpart. lol

@@mobilgnds it will run at 2400MHz or whatever the max native ram speed for the motherboard is. Check if there is a overclock for the motherboard ram speed. You might be able to overclock it to use 3200MHz.
