I typically keep on a cap of some sort all day at work unless I’m on lunch break. Only to keep dust and dirt out of my locs while I’m working.

When I first started my dread off I used to wear my du-rag a lot but sometimes I used to leave it on throughout the whole day or for weeks it actually help my hair lock up it doesn't mess your hair up at all and I'm two years and 5 months in with my dreads

Yeah that’s been my experience too, I basically wear the entire weekend except for showering and I think it helped my hair loc faster

Same, I drive trucks so I keep my durag on all day at work to keep the dust out and all. But on weekends when I go out and all I let em catch some air. I'm 9 months in and I'm already locked and growing well.

Yes you can wear a durag all day. Like he said it’ll make your locs flat however other than that it’s not a bad thing to wear over your locs. It’s to protect your hair. Yes you want your hair and scalp to breath but overall it’s not an issue.

During the winter I may wear loc sock all day to hold moisture but I prefer keeping my locs out and about.

I wouldn't wear it all day but I do be wearing my dreadlocks sock all day sometime when I'm relaxing like Tae love and I've been doing that for a couple of years with no issue

I feel like its smart to let ya scalp breath and not only your scalp, your hair has to expand and contract and needs movement to mature properly. I feel itchy asl sometimes when i take my durag off in the morning, i cant imagine wearing it all day lol.

Yea i just got my starter locs done like 2-3 days and i wear my durag most of the day and then take it off to breathe for hours until i put it back on, i work 8 hour shifts 5 days out the week so i wear it through out my whole shift but i heard its good for starter locs but i just wanted to make completely sure. I really do want to have it out when im at work but im just really skeptical and very cautious on not messing anything up. So i really dont know

I’m a year and 1 month in and no it didn’t my first free months I wore it all day Bc my job let me so only I took it off is to oil my hair and shower even when I hooped it stayed intact including when I got a retwist

I was looking up this question because this is what I do. I was trying to see if it's a bad thing. I wear the durag when I wear a headset to game and lie down on the bed. It reminds me not to scratch and instead to pat when I go to scratch my scalp. It also prevents breakage and if I fall asleep, it will keep them from unraveling. I will come back and update this down the line when I'm fully loc and further into the journey. I do not wear the durag if I'm am out and bout. One more thing I noticed is that it helps the locs retain moisture after your moisturize them.

@kingmayoi Don't wear it all day. Just when you're wearing a headset for gaming or lying down on the bed. You want your scalp to be able to breathe. You can also temporarily wear it after moisturizing to loc it in, but wearing it too long can cause irritation to the scalp behind the ears and at the nape where it will be tied. The best thing to wear all day would be a loc sock.

I’m two months in and I only wear a Durag when I’m at work cause I’m a construction electrician and it can get dusty and dirty and when I’m sleeping and kiccin it at the house

Yes I am an electrician IBEW (union) I feel like.inhsve my loc cap on all day from working ten hours a day and then immediately going home to lounge in the house sometimes it be on for days I just take it off to oil and spray it with rose water...just keep it moisturized u will be fine

For me personally, I wouldn't. It's like getting fresh cornrows and putting on a durag. Why bother with having it done. I rock my locs even if I need a retwist lol.
