I'm 2 years in the loc game and had no knowledge of what I was doing...all I knew was my head would itch and don't allow someone to use beeswax in your head cause it causes build up...My routine is similar to yours but I use Jamaican Lime Castro, olive oil, AND tea tree oil I juss combine them in a little squeeze bottle and apply throughout my head once a week....I get compliments allllll the time from women on how healthy my hair is...They even tell me I look like King Von 😂

I dig what you said Tae. That is actually what we are told in the beginning, but somehow it is easy to get off track. In all actuality less is more! Less is best! I am 15 months loc’d. I use Jamaican Mango Lime and oil also. I have no problem or regrets. I do use Rosewater from time to time and that is it. Thanks for putting a video out for mature locs. That type of programming is needed and especially from a male perspective.

I used to use the Mango and Lime for every retwist until I started seeing build up. I started using cold pressed coconut oil if I do frequent retwists. Coconut oil works great and doesn’t cause heavy build up in your locs. I keep the mango and lime for times I haven’t retwisted in a long time or for new and stubborn locs.

Thanks for the tips, man, I have had my hair long for 6 years and was getting bored of it so I was between cutting it out or go for dreads and decided to try dreadlocks, I always wanted to since a teen, thought they looked super cool and here in Mexico they are used but are not that common, it's considered an exotic hairstyle in most social circles and it's not easy to find a good loc stylist here, now I'm a month and half into and went for my first retwist session, its doing great but want to reduce the frizzing, going to try the oil and leaving it alone as you say!

My loctician always says I'm her best client. LOL I also do the bare minimum. I go to her every 2 or 2 1/2 months for a wash and retwist. I bring my own shampoo that I know works for my locs not what is in the shop. I'll wash my hair at home once between the time I go in. I spirtz my hair in the morning if needed with my own mixture of rose water and distilled water. I only oil my scalp when needed and it will let me know believe. LOL Since it's winter and between the cold and indoor heat, I spritz my hair a little more often and have had to up the oil a little, but when it's summer it's not often at all. I am 16 months in and my retwist on Wednesday was the first time I ever did a style, usually my hair is just down and free.

I would look at other loc videos and those products would just irritate my hair. After just cleaning it good and putting minimal oils in my hair the itch practically disappeared
@eastrosecollection75443 жыл бұрын
I agree, when I was using a lot of oils, sprays etc, my scalp would be so nasty and sore at times. When I stuck to just washing my hair and doing nothing, it helped with avoiding the bs. I have 4c hair, I wash like once every two-three weeks to keep it fresh and leave it alone and occasionally use rosewater. Just let your locs do its thing, if you want to loc it faster use crotchet hooks to get them instant

Wait did you say you oil ya scalp once a month 😂😩😩😩stop telling people that 😂.. organic extra olive oil should be your strength fam. I've been growing locs for 10 yrs they are to my waste some are to my butt...what I'm saying is and give your loc you tlc you need to feed your hair your scalp once a week or every two or three times a week cover it up massage it in your hair and keep it moving your locks are always have a shine to it that mean it looks healthy dog locks you will have breakage please my healthy locked people all your scalp feed your scalp not everything works for... But not doing nothing to your scalp your locs will just break off 💯

Congrats on being in the game 10years but yo method don’t work for me and my scalp. My Locs are healthy and I feel great. I had breakage and scalp irritation with your method. To start with , i must say , for me Dreadlocks is not about looking good. Had dreads for 13 years , I had to cut them a bit after they reached my knees. They’re thick and healthy. And yes I do the strict minimum…just let them be . Wash them when needed i use a bit of gel from time to time . That’s it .
