Can I Wear a Patch with No Rockers without a Blessing?

I often get asked questions like, "If I patch my group up with a back patch, no rockers, no state, no MC, can we ride, as an organized pack, without getting a blessing?" On the face of this, it would seem like that would be an easy thing to do. But in actuality there is a lot more to it than that! In this 33 minute video I'll explain.

I look at it like this.... (Former club member) as long as there is no MC patch or any territory patch you should be able to wear what ever you want. Personally, I could guve two shits on what you have on the back of your vest. This is one the problems with our country. Who the hell are you or anyone else to tell me what to wear on my vest??? The videos are very eye opening and educational in the sense that I had NO idea how serious these clubs took all of this business and thereby know now that it's not for me but by no means makes me feel I need to challenge a culture that I was not part of creating.. In my experience, it doesnt matter if you wanna fly a traditional 3 piece or a one piece, you need a blessing from the surrounding clubs as a sign of respect. If you wanna be one, you have to act like one. Ride Safe!

I live in central Florida. We have a lot of mc. And 1% clubs also. I ride very happy I don't wear any patch at all. No one bothers me. I don't wear any patches cause I don't need to. Nor desire to.

First impression is that it sounds like their club is a riding club...not generally governed by mc protocol. ..as you have stated in previous videos of there is no mc patch then they are seen as a riding club...not generally needing a blessing from a 1% mc...unless they want to act like a traditional mc...love your vids black dragon...just made it to 50lbs down...glad to hear your still making progress...ride safe and get skinney

Our club went to the dominant 1% in the area and talked to them. They basically said to scrap the MC in the patchAnd change a few things one of them being no three piece patch. We just did that. One circular patch with no rockers and no MC title. We did that and renamed it a Motorcycle Association. They were and are cool with that. They had a big hang up about the MC title so we just did the respectful thing and scrapped it in its entirety. It’s been a world of difference knowing that we don’t have to worry about that.

I remember back in the 70s a few of my buddies and myself about 5-6 of us used to ride around town hitting the bars and hangouts and we never had a patch of any kind on our backs and one day while we were at a hotdog stand we were approached by the Sgt.at Arms of a local 1%er club. Just put it this way we were warned about starting a New Club and how it wasn't a good idea!!!

Black Dragon made my first Rolling Thunder Run with the Ky Chapter first time running around the Capitol kinda of a intresting subject you have today. I have 2 vest one is my memory vest with a Big Egale Globe and Anchor with the United States Marine Corps Rockers and patches from ships and deployments and some road trips.... Now Riding Club Patch Brotherhood of Marine Corps Riders wich has attached rockers to form one piece so I would say in a area be friendly have manners and intorduce your self remove all questions and suspicions . Saves a lot of headache and you'll have plenty of invitations .

Thanks for all your info in this me and my long time friend want to start a RC however he recently left an MC that he wants to get the blessing from. I didn't want to get from them since I did go hang with them a few times and thought about prospecting with them but I didn't like the way the prez was talking about other members. I also did some riding with another local RC went a large bike event and just watched everything happening around me to g glean all the knowledge I could about how things are done. I watched the pay respects to the dominant club. At this point I think that I may just Prospect for the other RC to learn how to properly run a club if we ever decide to start our own. Not a problem talking to the dominant club. This is not about fear but respect. Better to talk to them, then just doing what you want. I was told once that if it looks, walks and quacks like a duck, it is duck. If they tell you no, be patient and prove yourself.

First Responder MC's and LEO's in particular don't bend the knee to 1% MC's and Vice versa. Kinda like natural enemies so they aren't going to follow the other guys rules. Pop ups ya better get your blessings. I live in an HA dominated area with many HA support clubs. Don't think it would go over well without a blessing.

Heck no all patches ain't bad. Those that are setup to look like motorcycle clubs may not even get noticed, but there is a good chance that they could and you just don't want that hassle.

In Michigan and the Detroit area a blessing comes from god , not a man or organization. 1%er clubs try to control just regular MC clubs and social clubs in the Detroit area. When the do they get pounced on by the local police and the FEDS. That’s why in Michigan 1%ers have no foothold here so everyone just gets along. LE MC clubs don’t deal with the blessing deal at all and do their thing, but one time a so called OUTLAW club approached a LE club and said “ we need to meet before you guys roll around here” The LE club sgt@arms just said to the 1%er President “ you name a place my club can’t be and we will be there”. Taking colors and trying to control other MC’s is just played out here in 2018, the public and law enforcement don’t tolerate it anymore. As for the LE MC needless to say the 1%er President backed all the way down and was even scolded by other clubs for trying to muscle a LE MC, but heat was on him anyway to the point the 1%er club had to go underground for over a year.

Hey man just out of curiosity I live in West Virginia and there are a few MCs around here I have a group of riders and im working on starting my own MC if it goes well. Every MC around her has 3 piece patches with west virginia on the bottom would that be a issue if I did the same I have a 1% pagan I know and talk to on occasion should I confront him and ask for a blessing or should I just respectfully patch up still with a bleeding but without the lower rocker? Your first step would be stop calling strangers brother. Next would be get some education on how to conduct yourself respectfully and be righteously. Then hang out with a club. You know a pagan so there you go. Let him know your plans. No secrets, honesty always and when you cant tell the truth you stop talking. Hell NO, do not put that three piece patch on with a state rocker on the bottom of it by any means. That is no way to "respectfully" patch up. Instead talk to that Pagan first. He'll direct you, especially if he's a family friend - he won't want to see any kinds of confrontations come your way.

Got a question for you...I'm in a car club...that mainly geared towards the car audio aspect...we are nation wide and actually just went global with chapters in Dubai and iceland... that all being said we have many members who ride and now that audio on bikes are coming strong on the seen in the shows how would we about adding mc to our club or is it possible or would we be considered a RC...even though we already run like a club..

You've got a lot to learn to make that happen, and the process will be different in every city, state, and country you will try to enter. You need to start watching this channel, and for your European clubs Dibber in the Wind's channel, and Insane Throttle Video Magazine so you can properly prepare yourself for that journey. Not saying that it can't be done, but it will not be as easy as putting CC/MC or CC/RC or MC or RC on a cut and start riding. I've got nearly 500 videos posted so you can browse the titles and get your study on. I'll try to put together a quick video for your about this question today.

I've known of guys drinking at a bar close to my old neighborhood and I eventually moved there.(No names mentioned)Well they called me to come up and have a beer, well when I got there they were walking out evidently they were told it was time to leave by the dominant patch. I guess the plans for that bar that nite didn't evolve them. So I went along with the facade because at the time I was active I understood what transpired. Not one beer touched my mouth and they were already out the door so I didn't take it personal. You know if you step deep into someone's lair or the outskirts there's gonna be hell to pay in some form.

BD six months ago I saw 3 guys riding, on the back of their jacket it had a 1 piece patch with the name, a symbol and where they from, NO MC or any other patches, what are your feelings about that?

I have no feelings about it one way or another. I think people should wear symbols that identify them and make them proud and display unity - whether on a motorcycle or not. I don't tell people what they should or should not do, or wear. I tell them of the consequences that may befall them if they are determined to do certain things, then hang out on the biker set. For instance, if the guys you are talking about got a blessing for those symbols - they will ride free in that territory without having to worry about anything at all. If they did not, there is a possibility that many different things could happen to them - none of those things being pleasant. With that knowledge it is up to them how they move forward from there. My club will never be the club to give a damned one way or another. We don't enforce territorial claims nor do we handle the business of MC politics. But there are clubs that do. Those are the guys that you want to ask... "How do you feel about this or that?" Because those are the guys that will be in your face. It will never be Black Dragon.

The problem nowadays is that so many places have zero intention of giving any type of blessing of any kind...you basically gotta just do your best to fly under the radar until you and your members are extremely well armed and ready to go toe to toe with any group...that’s basically the only way to do it if you wanna start up right now in many many areas..it just depends on how bad you and your members want it.. if someone has a shotgun pressed against my forehead telling me to take my cut off...I’m dying that day.. and I’m ok with that.. The closest thing you’re going to get to a blessing is if you find one of the mammoth clubs nearest you and try with everything you’ve got to become a support outfit of theirs...but there’s danger and hardship in that too so...at the end of the day if you wanna wear patches and ride bikes in groups you better be willing to die or be a competition winning pistol sharp shooter that wears a bulletproof vest and helmet everywhere.. Maybe I’m wrong but...being ready to fight and die for it seems to be the only way to build a brand new MC in pretty much every area of the USA unless your a full on support outfit or an LE club or a completely non threatening club like “toys for tots MC” or something.. but something like “The Tribe” could definitely spark some conflict (not to mention there’s already an MC called the tribe...you gotta be waaaaayyyy more original than that nowadays) Good luck new clubbers I hope you have it in you.. and if you die trying then you died a bad mf in my opinion 😎 LH&R O.G. Young Miklo if that is the case, why have I been able to spread my MC from coast to coast over the past 8.5 years without spilling even one drop of blood? If you are a president you have a far bigger responsibility to your men, than to take one in the head for some rags on your back. Die for your brothers not for your rags. Further, if you took one to the head, what would you expect to happen to the rest of your crew that got surrounded with you? It's easy to make the personal choice to die but as a president, what do you owe the men under your care? Do you make the decision for them to die as well? What about their families, children, wives, mothers, kin folks who need them to bring those pay checks home to raise the families they have created? Do they get to fall upon hard times too because of your personal choice to stand up and die? If you are determined you can get your MC up and running in almost any place, no matter how hostile the environment. Believe me, we've had some difficult times establishing chapters, but being a support club for someone we don't feel like supporting was never the answer either. We don't wear support patches. You can stand up without leading your men to an early graveyard. Political leadership means you learn diplomacy and how to wield it. The sword is absolutely the last choice for 99%ers. In other words, a 99%er will kill you but it's always going to be his last choice, if he can help it.

Black Dragon National President because Black Sabbath MC was already a well known, established outfit years before that expansion ever took place. There is a very big difference between starting a chapter of an established club from California in 2010 and starting an entirely brand new MC in 2018 As far as being ready to die you’re right. That’s my personal choice. I’d rather die like a man than live like a coward and I know my brothers feel the same way. It ain’t got nothin to do with being young. I know men your age and older that would see it as an honor to die for their club or their patch. We’re cut from a different cloth and it ain’t no 99%er cloth. I understand what you’re saying and I know you’ve got a disclaimer saying the channel is only for 99%ers and I’m talking from a different perspective but the bottom line is all these people out here lookin for short cuts and loopholes are gunna eventually be faced with the reality that if you start something brand new involving motorcycles, men and patches on vests...then you better be ready to defend yourself...the world is full of jerks that see patches and automatically wanna look for problems...and a person is either going to stand up for themselves or relinquish their belongings to another man which in my opinion is what a coward would do. If your club in its entire history has never once had to stand up for itself then I applaud you. But as you say “it’s that one time at the gas pump” Diplomacy is all well and good when you’ve got a small army standing behind you...but if you and a few friends throw on some gnarly patches that no one has ever seen before and you go around approaching clubs asking for blessings...atleast in my state...it ain’t gunna go too well...especially in 2018.. I do agree that brains before bullets is a good policy to follow but right now people are trying to start new MC’s every single day and it’s to the point where the answer is no before you’re even able to ask the question.. so at that point what are your options? Wait it out? Give in and join one of the existing clubs? Or go hard and give your life to accomplish what you believe in.. Black dragon a couple of questions. 1.) Would I need a blessing from the major MCs to rock any back patches if I had Bike Club (BC)? 2.) If I Do get a stable group together, would me having a problem wear and patching a leather vest? My whole life ive always hand deep love an respect for clubs. I just always noticed car clubs use jackets, MCs use leather cuts for the most part. An a bike club I follow over sea's wear jean vest. 3.) 1. Do you mean bicycle club or motorcycle club when you say bike club? 2. Question 2 depends on the answer to question 1. If it is a bicycle club no one in the MC world would care. 3. There are car/van/motorcycle clubs out there. I'm not sure how hard they are to start but they do exist. So I would expect that your dream could come true if you pushed it hard enough.

I just want to say, this is a great channel with some great, common sense advice. I've never been in an MC, but have ridden for years and was invited to prospect a couple of times. The biggest thing that I learned was be respectful, but be who you are. Above all, do not pretend to be someone or something that you aren't. And to those who say it's a free country, I will quote Lenin: "I must agree that you are free to say what you want, but you must then agree that I have the right to shoot you for saying it." I had a buddy who tried to play this card and got away with it for a few months. Then he ended up in the hospital and is lucky to be alive. For the record, he was a big dude, prior Marine Recon and a pretty tough dude. Being tough doesn't help when six guys catch you outside the bar.

Seen it first hand, guys think they're Rambo until they are encircled by an angry MC. My suggestion, do it the right way, follow protocols in the end it'll earn you way more respect than you would getting your butt whipped (or worse). Anyone can start a fight, VERY FEW people can create a successful motorcycle club.

I have a 3 piece Military Patch center patch that has the Marine Corps emblem with Veteran on the bottom I had a top rocker that says "Semper Fidelis 77-83 Bottom rocker says Sgt Mos1341 Va I posted this on a Marine Corps site to show it to my fellow Marines someone mentioned I may get hassled because it's a 3 PC patch which a symbol of MC I have no tides to a Motorcycle Club i don't ride a Motorcycle nothing about these patches have anything to do with riding this will be sewing on a Levi jacket but I don't want to be disrespectful to the MC lifestyle. I wear a black denim vest with a straight facing indian skull with crossing Hatchets in the center ( I ride an Indian and I thought it was cool lol). No rockers at all. There are two dominant 1% clubs around here. One being the angles. No one has ever said anything to me about mine. I also don't wear it during any big events where there may be a lot of MCs just because I don't want to be confused with a club member. I have a few friends that are MCS and I I get invited to a lot of benefit get togethers for injured Riders and things like that. Most MC guys are pretty cool dudes. I've drank beers with members of the Angels at Thunder on the strip in the past. I think 9 times out of 10, if you are approached by an MC, they'll probably just tell you it's a good idea to remove it if there could be a problem with it. Everybody has the stigmata about 1%er being straight assholes all the time but honestly, the majority of them are just normal dudes. Just don't disrespect them .

The thing i dont get is that years ago u never had to ask for permission to another club to start up in the state or in ur area but its just been couple of years where u got to ask for permission n i know with some clubs if u ask they will let u do it but u got to support them n pay tax to be there but it might just be me but i think why ask for permission if ur thinking or starting a club its none of there business about it

You are right about how it used to be. All politics is local. It changes with the times. If your club is tough enough to stand it up without a blessing, then by all means do so. But it won't be free. It will cost someone in your club some blood, maybe even an early grave. You will fight your way into the game and it will be painful as hell. But you would have asked NO ONE for the right to exist and you will be totally free. This is your right. Or you can get a blessing and give up some of that freedom. You've got to ask yourself, what it's worth to you. Then go from there.

Do I need a blessing for a yacht club, airplane club, snowmobile club, horse riding club, hot rod club? Why are motorcycle clubs so different? Some of this just does not make sense to me. I grew up in street gangs and the one thing I learned was all of that stuff about territory was ridiculous and immature.

I've asked him the same question and this one - why would anyone want to be a part of such a culture? There is nowhere else in society that has a group calling itself 1%ers that the other 99% have to suck up to, mind their Ps & Qs around, ask permission to do stuff or just to exist, etc. Why do the people who think they are 1% material only gravitate to motorcycles because you just don't see them anywhere else and why would anyone who is not 1% material want to be around them? It baffles me.

also need to research any name that you choose to use..... the bike culture in America is over a hundred years old. 9 times out of 10 there is a club in existence with a name you choose. now if that club is a outlaw or a very strong traditional Club they may "request" you to change your name. especially if they're like us that have copyright and patent rights on all our stuff.A Club don't always need to use themselves they can use the law to shut you down.
