You don't need the trade route to trade stuff. The trade route just sends a dedicated merchant your way for that trade good every now and then. Without the trade route, it can take a bit longer to sell, but it still works.

So it's possible to make regional wealth with lvl 1 burgages. Also people report that traiding routes are bugged, and having too many of them can block your trading post.

Hi Pravus! One think I noticed, nothing that can kill the run, but, its better to create for example 5 militia units (even if no people avialable, just create unit that says 0/36) + 1 retinue because the cap for your own units is 6, and you already have 3 retinues which is strong, but you wont be able to create new militia units as (I think) you cannnot get rid of retinue other wise than destrying the mannor. But if you build manors after you reach 6 units cap, you get that additional retinue unit over the cap and thats just awesome exploit :) Just do not disband militia as you will not be able to recreate after cap is reached. In my current hard run, I have 5 pike units and 3 full retinues from 3 territories, thats 8, and when I add 3 mercs (can really take them all) attacking (or defending) that baron is really easy, he actually offers you cash immediately after we are declared enemies :) Also that a good exploit if somebody dont like to tactically win battles with les units, just save you money, dont spend it on retinues as 1 guy cost 50 more than archer mercs 72 guys for 45, (3 mercs 90+50+45=195 silver) spend your all money on mercs, accept the challenge and you have greater numbers he immiedtly surrenders and offers you around 350-450 so you double you money. (Im typing while watching and you actually have that situation at this very moment)

About the starting Wealth. If you do not have enough wealth to open a Trade Route, just export goods without one. It's not available for every good and it's not as efficient, but will get you the wealth to open trade routes.

the ingame helper states it's 1 wealth per family for a lvl 2 plot, so with your extentions it'd be 2 per month it is objectively better to house 2 families in a plot rather than 1 as if you build for multiple plots a 3 houses with additionals will take up the same space as 5 individuals which is 1 extra family over all. also on a side note i started in a regeon with rich berries and animals, and went the hunter/gather route and that can feed about 300 people without too many issuses if you throw in long vegie plots early , all up i had 6 plots for veg the meat line and i've only just got the berry tech i probably should of gotten that earlier and it'sdoing ok ( remember in 1 of your vids you said you're not sure how effective donig that route would be. How is your retinue upgrading so cheap with doing it without gear, i mean mine costs me 37, and yours is 8 gold :O

I never use polearms and militiamen. Use spears with shields, they're stronger and more survivable

add more roads, shortcuts for the traders
@Denek_236 ай бұрын
the best is to build trader, right on the edge, as close to that blue icon outside the map that indicates AI trader (I think only in Goldhoff that road is broken, buildings dont snap to it)

Thank you so much for uploading this! If anyone's interested in the minutiae of Medieval historical units equipment I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. Keep up with the great work!

The ranged balance is like you have longbows, while the enemy has freaking Gatling guns.

The AI pushed a claim for one of my already claimed lands, you only have the option to fight right now. There are other options. They sent 6 units to my 4 full and 5 partial. They took out my knights, one spear battalion and one polearm battalion. The other 2 were able to limp home but I kept the region. polearm units are useless and die very fast, spearmen are much better. For the next claims where I am fighting the AI, I purchase the merc's and then push claim. That seems to work better but my units are still super tired marching all over the dang map to get to the battle area in time.

If you pick the development point that takes off tariffs it also makes buying armour for retinue a lot cheaper. Not quite the 17 with advanced armour making but 24 is better than 34

Middle region,if you build the hunters hut too close to the animals it’ll scare them away. At least that’s what another KZbinr said.

I wish there was a way to make burgage artisians pause and play production, also just asking but at 15:13 didnt he just hired mercs? that were avialable?I cannot confirm that...

Unless the dev/patch notes explicitly say an update is for endgame max difficulty runs I'm not sure it's a title that needs/benefits from that approach to a playthrough. Myself, I'd probably more interested in watching thematic roleplay runs where you explore specific mechanics/game systems rather than difficulty for the sake of it. (for whatever my two cents is worth)

The enemy was having larger forces because he was hiring the mercenaries before you could. Your retinue consists or men-at-arms not knights (meh nitpicking). You can try to balance percieved trade imbalance with barter posts between towns. Militia are weak in general because they're just farmers who soldier occasionally, not professional soldiers. Eventually there's an experince/veterancy modifier coming. Please remember this is medieval Germany (Franconia - NW Bavaria), not modern day Nebraska and logistics, construction etcetera are harder and in microcosm. Seems to be a failing in most of the tubers I've seen play this game. If you want vast and fast trade, play something with trains/steamships, otherwise it's a guy with a horse taking/bringing a few things at a time.

polearms have shields? # units of archers against no shields...all die seems right. I dislike that AI just generates heaps of units.
