I used IFC machine today for the first time in my therapist office for my fractured L3 that has not healed all the way in 12 months, chronic pain has been the issue. I have used the Tens machine each time I go in for PT but today I used the IFC for 40 minutes. I must say that it did give me a little relief almost as if I was a little numb. The pain definitely wasn’t as bad as it normally is. I also had ice pack on for the first 20 minutes. I am looking forward to using each time I go to physical therapy and my physical therapist ordered one for me which my insurance pays for to be able to use it at home. I’m excited because the chronic pain has taken a toll on my life. I chose the IFC over steroids and drugs.

I have fibromyalgia and use that same machine on my back, upper, lower, middle.. I max it out at 70 every time. So pleased after the 30 mins. Pain is pretty much gone!

Had this tonight for my neck and shoulder I liked it a lot because it really felt like the muscles were encouraged to move and loosen up in a way i can't seem to do with exercise. However the physio appilyed it with a wand

This demo is for the TENS modality, not the IFC modality.

IFC category of stimulation requires the placement of the patches in such a manner that the lines drawn between the two reds and two blacks MUST cross. In this illustration, the REDs are down at the distal aspect of the Left elbow while the BLACKs are at the proximal aspect of the Left elbow. The line drawn connecting REDs and BLACKs will come out PARALLEL in this arrangement which is not the proper design for IFC. This is TENS modality demo, not the IFC modality.

I hope you reply right away because I'm about to take the board exams but can you cross the spine with IFC? Like crisscross the pads over the spine?

I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I’m 66 and have had 3 discs (4/5, 5,6, and 6/7) and two vertebral bodies (corpectomy-C5 and C6) removed for severe spinal stenosis in which the cord was compressed like a piece of lasagna. They placed an autologous graft (iliac) and fixation with a Synthes plate anchored at -C4 and C-7. I had myelopathy and was very fortunate not to lose bladder and bowel control according to two neurosurgeons. That was 25 years ago. Now I have lots of pain in the skull base and the base of the neck. My neck motion is markedly limited with flexion and especially extension, as well as rotation. I own the same unit that you are demonstrating. Can I safely use this on the back of my neck at the skull base? Which ofvthe four pre-prorammed IF modes would you use? I would like to use it there to get some relief. Thanks.

So you can get units with both IFC and TENS ?

Usually a multi-function device are doing an ok job compared to a non-multifunction device. Having said that, better you buy a device that funcition either as an Interferential or TENS.

Yes, the one I had today had both

The science has actually come along way. Google the RS4iplus by RS medical. Incredible results for pain relief 4-8 hrs. They have a patent that combines Mickie stim and interferential in a unique effective way

Where would you put pads for chronic sciatica nerve pain running all the way to toes?
@hughes22785 жыл бұрын
Lower back probably around L4-L5 vertebra. There are exercises and stretches you can do to relieve some of the pain as well, one example is reclining pigeon pose. Your pain could either stem from a herniated disc or tight muscles that hug the sciatic nerve. I suggest visiting a PT for proper diagnosis
