I am in the cleaning business and still working at 73 years young. HOWEVER, my back is sore and my hip on my right side. Vacuuming and mopping are hard on your back. I have to be more mindful when bending to pick up my supplies and plugging and unplugging the vacuum. I want to stay independent and healthy! Bob, you look so well in this video! We are thinking about you. My daughter is a nurse and has an autoimmune disease. She relapsed and now has chemo once a month so that she can work as a call nurse. She was an ER nurse but cannot take the sensory overload. She had the shot, a mild case of Covid and then vestibular symptoms. It took almost a year for correct diagnosis to receive infusion therapy for her condition. She later relapsed and the original infusion therapy did not work. Finally, after consulting with Mayo Clinic, a specialist recommended chemo infusion once a month. Two more rounds and then they will try pill form of chemo. She said you don’t know how strong you can be until that is your only choice. Warm thoughts to you and your wife!

Thank you. My shoulders, neck, and upper middle back have been hurting. I noticed my back started to hurt regularly after doing dishes by hand every day. The sink is too low. I started to do it differently and it helps. But I didnt know what to do to help my shoulders. I had no idea about supporting my arms when I sit. I will now 😊

I found this on my own after having low back pain when doing dishes or brushing teeth: Don't stand up half bent over the sink (creates rounded back), push the butt back instead, like in a standing ready position (like football players). It may look funny, but takes almost all pressure off of the back and keeps the back nice and straight. So, stand (vertical) and then move trunk forward by pushing the butt back (e.g. see Dan John vids on how to get used to a proper hip hinge), also could be explained as what your back and butt and legs do just as you're about to sit down, but stop at 10-20% from vert. For me this is much easier than putting a foot up on something.

Love to Brad, glad to see him in this throwback episode, can't wait to do it for tomorrow morning's mini-workout. Hope that these segments will become regular releases, like maybe one a week or every other week. After all, he is one of the most famous physical therapists on the internet, in our opinion of course, fellow fan.

I do a lot of working at the computer and my desk rocking chair and my living room rocking recliner are made for the "average" person, and I'm short. Lucky I can sew, and I created custom covers for the backs of these chairs and attached appropriate neck support, memory foam seats and cylinder pillows for my right and left, attached with a long band so when I'm ready to sit in the chair I can just pull up the pillows to tuck on the sides and elevate my arms (before that the pillows just fell on the floor every time I got up or sat down). I also had to make pillows for my foot stools so my feet were in the right positions. All this definitely paid off with less pain, more comfort.

There was a guy Brendan Backstrom that Dr. Berg interviewed in December, and he says you should bend forward to slowly build lower back strength. What are your thoughts? He seems to encourage a different approach to what you're saying. I honestly don't know, but what he's saying sort of makes sense.

Bob was diagnosed with Ataxia, a neurodegenerative disorder affecting the cerebellum, a few years ago. This condition has challenged his balance, coordination, and speech. Despite these obstacles, Bob's resilience shines through. Using his expertise, he's developed techniques to manage these challenges. Bob continues to inspire and educate through the 'Bob and Brad show,' proving that resilience and knowledge can overcome Ataxia's obstacles. That’s different because it’s an intentional exercise with a known amount of weight, which you can increase as needed to continue to progress while maintaining good form. In the real world, people get sloppy with their form.
