something you overlooked at that first statement, iron man doesnt need to go from mk1 to 0, since both fighters are also at similar speeds, he just need to slowdown enough to allow them to pass him.

+Nerdist Maybe Steve and Bucky have a MILD regeneration ability as part of the Super Soldier formula? I mean, this IS the Marvel universe, and even if the MCU can't use X-Men-specific characters (Wanda & Pietro being an exception being Avengers BEFORE being Mutants), it wouldn't surprise me if someone in the MCU had/was working with regeneration abilities around the 1940's. Sure, we probably won't get an official yay/nay on THAT idea, but it's something to think about whilst Fox owns the rights to make X-Men films.

Most likely his suits have an active dampening system reason because *spoilers* In Civil War Rhodey is knocked out of the sky but loser consciousness when his suit loses power. Now when Rhodey is flying obviously thats not a problem so the conclusion is that the dampening is an active part of the suit probably using some sort of dampening field within the suit to hold all his organs in place and to absorb shocks

+Cladyton Cortina yeah you are right but why is the most important part of the iron man armour exposed like that rhodey almost died because of that design and he lost to cap because he jammed his shield into the reactor. why could he have covered it with some sort of hatch
@rays5073
@rays5073 8 жыл бұрын
+Shanee Bahera well, in Rhodey's case, it was (*spoiler*) Vision's weird super stone laser thingy. Second, Tony doesn't need the Arc Reactor to keep the shrapnel from his heart anymore, as that was removed in Iron Man 3. Which brings us to the next point the reactor is now inside the chest plate itself, making it hard to cover up without a weird bulge, and it would block the unibeam. Further, I'd like to point out that Cap has been treated with the Super Soldier serum, making him stronger than a normal man, combined with his vibranium shield making a potent source of sheer kinetic power.

The flash controls kinetic energy on a subatomic level. And the speedforce allows him to do it without being a super genius. He is immune to being knocked out. He can literally phase through solid matter and/or make things explode by touching them. If he saw an attack coming that wasnt magic or didnt otherwise break physics (he's in a bad universe for that) then it cannot really hurt him.

I personally think that the blaster get's around the knockback thing because instead of thinking of the blaster as "firing" something. The impact has no force what-so-ever like a laser, but the knockback is caused from a mini-explosion or shockwave from the material of the person being vaporized.

Still, that is a lot forces on Tony's head, but given that he created a recoilless energy hand canon, I figured that he just stood up inertia on a date and isn't answering his phone. Also, the Star Wars "lasers" are supposed to be plasma bolts that explode on impact. Or maybe that's just the bowcaster.

Not bad but even if Iron Man could replicate something like that his human structure would still be weak against rapid neck torsions and changes in the blood pressure inside the brain. Simply put his brain is way to big and ill-conceived to that purpouse. The helmet would also be weackened because you have to focus on a point of impact to acomodate all structures arround forces from that direction, so hits from the side or back would still be a really big problem. Also the need to make if flexible would increase the chances of it crushing under continuous pressure. Ironically a human apex like Capitan America would be a far better candidate to use the armor than Iron Man, not only for the biological advanced but also training. But hey, it's technology and comics, don't try for even one second to make sense out of it.

So about the knockback from a blaster bolt... if the bolt instantly vaporizes a bit of armor and flesh and whatever else you have the opposite force. The blaster bolt may have virtually no mass but the vaporized impact point has mass and travels away from the stormtrooper with good speed. Laser ablative rockets use the same principle (I think they are only a theory)
@CelticRider84
@CelticRider84 8 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Reichert I remember researching something about this at one point for fun, and found that most blasters in the Star Wars universe actually fire superheated tiny projectiles. And that it isn't an energy weapon per se, but that happens to be the residule particles of the superheated tiny mass going through the air that makes it look like a 'laser' bolt. Of course, that changes in The Force Awakens when Kylo Ren stopped that blaster bolt in mid-air, and we got a close up look at it. Likewise, the Wookie bowcaster fires a larger projectile, hence the increased force behind the bolt. Of course, all the lore and 'science' behind it changes depending on whose writing, huh.

Simple answer: The Iron Man armor generates a repulsor field. Said repulsor field dampens G forces to human manageable levels. When the armor loses power, it loses the repulsor field. Hence why Rhodes falls and breaks his back: his suit lost power and he hit the ground full force.
@dramspringfeald

In the end Question about the Blaster, "How does the blaster work?" It's not using Newtons Law, it's using Thermal Dynamics. When the Blaster hits it is atomizing the armor in that area when it hits which produces both the Armor penetration and burn mark but would produce an energy wave that would punch their armor and should thrown them. There are a lot of really cool high energy laser videos on here that show it happening to some effect. (The Military ones not the backyard ones) all it would have to do is super heat the material faster than it could cool/melt. kind of like plastic/armor popcorn.

Alternate explanation for how a blaster-bolt can blow a man back. Heat of the bolt vaporises a part of the target and the explosive expansion of these gasses is the force moving the Storm Trooper... Couldn't it work that way?

@Ullus
@Ullus 6 жыл бұрын
the Explosion would be visible, but it is definitely possible! There actually has been some research into this kind of propulsion system: Shoot with a pulsed laser at an object to vaporize small amount of its hull so it can "ride" upon those little explosions. The tunking behind this kind of propulsion system: you dont need an energy source on the flying object. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_propulsion Another explanation for the knockback would be: photon radiation pressure - but energy required to generate enough "light-pressure" would be so high that the target would much faster evaporate than beeing knocked back...

@thecasualnerd7380

Random theory on the blaster knocking over the stormtrooper back thing. It could be that the bolt itself has no mass, but creates a shockwave of superheated air as it flies. It could be this rapid expansion of hot air that provides the force that knocks the trooper over. Also the laser guns in Star Wars function a lot more like plasma cannons, since if they were firing actual light the guns would be unavoidable once fired because the shots would literally be the fastest things in the universe, far faster than a humanoid body could move... and Star Wars characters avoid blaster shots all the time (Jedi get a slight pass because they use the force to sense the intent of the shooter and begin moving before the shot is fired, but this isn't a total exemption). So if we assume the blaster shots are plasma, the superheated air theory still applies and there would be mass involved.

+Nerdist : Regarding a comment at the end of your video, maybe the blaster's laser creates a small, localized, explosion on contact with the stormtrooper. That explosion might generate enough force to push the stormtrooper backwards. I did some napkin math and the energy of the explosion would have to be something like 10kJ to 100kJ which seems like the a borderline reasonable number. Compare to the energy in a grenade blast (400kJ).

1:08 He doesn't actually stop, he just stops accelerating and starts to slow down, while the jets keep going and pass him. Like if you spread your body out while skydiving as opposed to being in a diving position, the latter keeps you accelerating until you reach terminal velocity, the former slows you down because of air resistance on your larger surface area. You even see that the suit has flaps come out to increase the surface area.

Captain America doesn't have super strength. His abilities are the maximum a human can exhibit, but are not considered super human. So, he is stronger than any other human you'll encounter in the comic world. Like Batman, it's all training, grit and determination. That's one reason he's endured for decades. Kyle keeps referring to Cap having 5-10 times normal strength, but that not correct. Cap can bench about 1200 pounds. That's only a few pounds more than the world record inthe real world. Love the series though.

Dracomancer273 I don't think they have super muscles and bones. At least captain A doesn't. The serum only made it so cap is in top physical human condition, the most physically fit a human can be. Not super human. At least to my knowledge.

Comic-Cap is closer to being a top condition human than MCU-Cap. While I can see a Deadlift Champion being able to briefly resist a helicopter that is actively trying to lift off (not just barely hovering for the oohs and ahhs of the onlookers), if you compare their muscle mass bulk to Cap's, there is no way he is just a person at top human condition. Also, keep in mind that this was said by a doctor in the 40s. What was considered Top Human Condition then and what modern medicine/sports consider it now ARE different. The serum also somehow reflects your deepest personal ideals in how it reacts with you. It ain't no normal steroid boosted by magical radiation.

about the punch question at the end, it only makes sense that a superhuman would be able to punch steel armor without repercussions. I've done 10 years of TKD (a martial art that doesn't even focus too hard on punches in the first place) and through fist conditioning I am now able to put dents in steel-clad doors. I don't believe it would be possible to engineer a helmet comparable to a woodpecker's skull without *highly invasive* surgery, but in consideration of the feats Tony pulls, inertia doesn't seem to have much impact on him so if we assume that he has somehow done the seemingly impossible, I suppose that would render him knockout-proof.

It's the mini arch reactor. Not only it powers Ironman, but it also creates a gravity field that cancels inertia and reduces the weight of the suit. I'm no comic fan but based on what I've seen in the movies, it could very well have the power to do all that.

About the storm trooper issue at the end: You could assume that the Blaster shot punctured the storm trooper's suit, then heated the stormtrooper's body to a point that some of it vaporized. The suit is relatively sealed, and those pressurized gasses must go somewhere, and that would be the blaster hole. A storm trooper is propelled backwards by his own insides boiling and shooting out of a hole in his chest piece.

As for the Star Wars blaster knockback question, it’s because, contary to popular belief, Star Wars blasters do not fire LASERs, but instead bolts of superheated plasma, and so do have some mass, although that mass is incredibly small.

About the blaster in starwars and lack of mass/inertia : you're forgetting that the shot is made of either plasma or is a laser , in both case, the sudden and violent vaporization due to the high energy/high temperature of said shot encountering the target made of organic matters and water could very well propel the target back . The violent expansion of water and tissues into gases would propell the storm trooper back. Much like a jet engine works.
@euzkolokura
@euzkolokura 8 жыл бұрын
BLASTER: there is another way the blaster can knock someone backwards: it creates an explosion on collision. For example it can vaporize material on impact at very high temperatures. Those gasses then expand and push the stormtrooper backards.

Regarding the last part: in star wars most blasters like han's or a standard stormtrooper are just lasers that burn through a person and destroys their insides, but some blasters or artillery in SW like Chewbaccas bowcaster actually have solid bullets ( or whatever it's called in star wars) that when shot are encased in blaster fire as well, giving the user kickback from the weapon as well as sending the target flying and very dead while still maintaining the look of a blaster bolt albeit larger.

+Stephen Troyer It's pretty well agreed that he actually writes normally and the image is reversed in post. It looks like Kyle is actually right-handed and the reversal of the video leads to it appearing that he is left-handed. Think about it, he writes perfectly fine every time. While it's possible that a leftie could just write backward the whole time (it's believed DaVinci did this for all of his notes), the more likely and less complicated solution is that the video is merely flipped right to left. But hey, that's just a theory. A KZbin theory.

- In response/correction to the question answered by the video about starwars , a blaster could cause a knockback without mass if it caused an ablative explosion vaporizing part of the armor causing the stormtrooper to be knocked back

On the blaster thing, it knocking back a storm trooper doesn't actually have to imply mass. You could also explain the force on the storm trooper causing it to fly as the blaster vaporizing part of the suit due to it being an extremely powerful laser and the high velocity vaporized ejecta causes the equal and opposite reaction.

At the end you discussed how Han Solo shot that Stormtooper so far. Well, he used Chewbacca's bowcaster and bowcasters shoot actual bullets unlike blasters. That is why (at least some people think) Kylo Ren was hitting his side in the forest at the beginning of the lightsaber duel.

If you're on the highway and someone in the next lane right in front of you slams on the brakes, they pretty much vanish instantly. That doesn't mean they came to a complete stop, or even slowed down that much.

1195km/h is 331.9 (rounding to first decimal) once you know that (and the earths gravitational constant(9.8m/s2) then you can put it in to an equation: 331.9/9.8sqr/.01=345.585. round up and you have 350g's even if he didn't come to a complete stop, which the above calculation assumes is the case (deceleration over 1/10 of a second).
