There's an anime called "Ajin", a new human looking race where when they die, they regenerate and live again. And when they lose a port of their body, only the part with the biggest mass regenerates and the other seperated part decayes, meaning if an ajin gets decapitated the body regenerates a new head, but with a completely new brain and the seperated head dies! It's an interesting anime -Also there is a type of matter which surrounds them and can use them. This matter transforms into nutrients, cells and bodyparts. They also only regenerates when they die.

+Zach Doherty-Smith I dont doubt that, but that doesnt make sense to me. He can survive being burnt to a skeleton with none of his organs supporting his brain, yet if his spinal cord is cut from his body he is unable to regenerate. I get why he can die from asphyxiation since thats pure oxygen depravation that affects only his blood and brain, thus preventing regeneration auto fixing it, but getting decapitated is pretty similar of an injury in terms of scope to being burnt down to his very bones.

I realize this video was 8 years ago, but hear me out... There's an issue with the "resources" part. Deadpool's superpower is essentially unbridled cancer - stated in DP2 (yes, I know this wasn't out yet at the time of this video). Where a normal person's cells can only divide so many times before the telomeres run out and the cells become prone to mutations beyond repair, DP's cells would be able to regenerate the telomeres - making the cells of his body an immortal cell line, so they could divide ad infinitum to create a whole body if just the head remained. Although in DP2 they just put him back together and he heals with the severed part. Immortal cell lines already exist - a woman named Henrietta Lacks had a sample taken from cancer cells in her body (cervical, iirc?). These cells just kept dividing and were taken for research without her consent or being paid for the use of her cells. Her cells (HeLa cells) are one of only two known immortal cells lines in existence.

@limiv52726 жыл бұрын
Because biology!
@maxmustermann14556 жыл бұрын
cuz bananas don't bleed to death...... seriously (assuming the question was somewhat serious): cuts from a plant can absorb new resources. When you put it into a glass of water, the pressure inside the plant still continues to pump new water and stuff into it. It doesn't need roots to absorb resources. Also, this functions without any instructions. Plants don't have a nervous system. Most of the stuff a plant does, happens automatically. Capillar pressure, osmosis..... Photosynthesis not so much, but it happens on a cellular level. Plants do not have organs.... But even with plants, it does matter which parts you take. If you take any plant and cut off all roots and leaves, it'll die. If you decapitate Deadpool, the body does not have a brain telling its hard to pump, its lungs to breathe etc... The head doesn't have a digestive system providing new resources, no heart pumping those resources into the brain, no lungs enriching the blood with oxygen.... Healing factor alone doesn't cut it once vital organs are lost.

But Kyle, if Thor's Hammer just gets heavier as an unworthy person tries to wield it, how come the hammer didn't bring the SHIELD plane down (even if a little) when The Hulk tried to lift it in the movie? Wouldn't it's weight have affected the plane if it got heavi enough for The Hulk to not be able to lift it? And why did the ground only break around his feet, and not around the hammer itself (considering both exerted the same amount of force downwards at that moment)? Also, if it worked with a gravitational field, wouldn't it just attract anything that got near it (perhaps even the person trying to lift it)? I mean, you can't just create a focused area of gravity on the part of the hammer facing down...
@kevindavis59668 жыл бұрын
That's why their theory is wrong. It's magic, period. No physical explanation works.
@m8eee8 жыл бұрын
best guess from a non nerd. it changes its gravity to just past the point of lifting so hulk pulls up he is holding all the weight and the portion on the ground is then very little. also the gravity changing properties could change the gravity how it chooses, aka the point facing down and not the entire thing. that could explain the last 2 questions. lastly kevin, magic and since have always walked hand in hand throughout history. in our realm, magic is just unexplained physics until we advance put knowledge
@Bleats_Sinodai8 жыл бұрын
+Devin Laviolette the main problem with magic is exactly that we can't explain it. it can't be gravity because it works as a field, and affects anything around it. how could it hold Loki down to the ground but not attract him to itself? how can it attach itself to the plane floor but Hulk can't just pull with enough force to break the ground around it and lift it?
@kevindavis59668 жыл бұрын
Devin Laviolette In the DC universe, Superman is vulnerable to magic, AKA it is a force without known or reproducible physical properties. In the comic universe, magic is not unexplained physics, but actual mystical manipulation of time/space/matter. That said, do I agree with your definition of magic in our universe? Absolutely, but it in no way applies to the fictional universe of comics.

But if the body regrows the head, is he deadpool anymore? I mean the brain creates memories right? So if he got decapitated and the body grew a new one, he's no longer deadpool and he won't gonna know who he is neither talk because you gotta learn language or even know what''s happening. So in conclusion, you can't him by decapitation but if his body grew a new head, you basically kind of neutralized him because his memory won't cary to a new head

Kyle, Morphallaxis is the regeneration of specific tissue in a variety of organisms due to loss or death of the existing tissue. The word comes from the Greek allazein, which means to exchange. The classical example of morphallaxis is that of the Cnidarian hydra, where when the animal is severed in two (by actively cutting it with, for example, a surgical knife) the remaining severed sections form two fully functional and independent hydra. The notable feature of morphallaxis is that a large majority of regenerated tissue comes from already-present tissue in the organism. That is, the one severed section of the hydra forms into a smaller version of the original hydra, approximately the same size as the severed section. Hence, there is an "exchange" of tissue. Researchers Wilson and Child showed circa 1930 that if the hydra was pulped and the disassociated cells passed through a sieve, those cells then put into an aqueous solution would shortly reform into the original organism with all differentiated tissue correctly arranged. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morphallaxis

I've always thought that if an immortal or someone with high healing capabilities were to be decapitated the head would go flying off and regenerate a new body, and the body would grow a new head. Since the body had to grow a new head it made more sense to me that it would not have any of said person's memories. I also believed that if the new head did keep any memories, somehow, than that would be a gruesome way to clone yourself. Also, also watch Ajin: Demi Human it also supplies some good information on this context and a really good show and in Naruto Shippuden there's a guy who is immortal and the only way he can die is if his head is severed/separated from his body and he isn't feed then he would die of starvation. I've actually had this question for a few years now happy you addressed it.

Well as far as Wolverine is concerned, he has to reattach the missing body part. In Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk, the Hulk tore Wolverine in half. As Wolverine pulled himself along he commented to himself that his legs aren't going to grow themselves back. Later Wolverine is decapitated by S.H.I.E.L.D. and he's still alive and able to talk. Despite his lungs being in another room, he is still able to breathe through his skin. Even in a room deprived of oxygen, he still didn't die. His brain just went into stasis. In order to permanently kill Wolverine you have to destroy his brain.

I have seen both DOFP and the origins movies, yes in the movies it's hinted that he could survive. I'm refering to a comis i read a while ago. Wolverine was in an underwater faculty (lab, hideout, IDK) and reading his thoughts, he was afraid, if the mission failed he'd definitely die. So at least in his mind he thought it was possible
@clarkkent14736 жыл бұрын
Tho that is assuming the cells are dividing non normally and making 2 cells while consuming one, under normal conditions the cell would only make 1 copy of itself, and that copy could either replace the consumed cell, or replace the destroyed cell, either way you now end up with 3 cells when you started with 4 cells as one cell is destroyed, and another is consumed to attempt to regenerate the destroyed cell

The real answer here has to move beyond conventional science and take into account metaphysics. The part that survives is the part with a "soul." There is one Deadpool soul, that is the thing that comes back, and the body it attaches to is the vehicle it rides. I mean the human soul is an established fact in the Marvel universe, numerous characters have been to an afterlife and back, including Deadpool numerous times. It would be no more scientific to ignore the existence of souls within the Marvel universe than it would be to ignore the existence of particle physics in the real world. So that,'s the answer, whichever part ends up with the soul, no matter how small, will eventually regenerate and live again, the other bits stay dead (outside of evil Deadpool, who's an anomaly). And as for "if the head came off, it would die before it can regenerate," that assumes that it requires basic biology to stay alive. Deprive a brain cell of oxygen, for example, and it would die, but deprive Deadpool's brain cells of oxygen, and they just keep on chugging. They get the job done. I would take a while for a body to regenerate solely from a head (although reattaching it would speed things up), but it wouldn't need lungs to breathe, a heart to pump, a stomach to digest, it would just be able to convert raw materials into new body parts directly.
@ikmnification57378 жыл бұрын
I was going to write the same thing, but your comment was longer and explained more. After being completely destroyed/exploded, I could imagine a Deadpool spirit asking, "Now should I regenerate from the toe, that piece of eyeball or that pixelated mess that use to be my dick?"
@S3PT1M18 жыл бұрын
Oh man, i bet deadpool would love having a bitch stewie XD
@Elsif_8 жыл бұрын
Soul? Fine. But the rest? Well it is easy to just {talk bulls**t} say oh well his brain cells do not require anything and he will just regrow from raw materials. What you here are talking about is magic. Yes he is a mutant and not magical, so his powers are based in biology (mostly human biology as that is on what he is based of) and stuff. But lets try to for example try to come up with something that makes sense. Lets assume that in response to critical damage most of his body cells would just go into hibernation, and just some cells would try to regenerate and check for status. And even then considering the basic cells are human he could not hibernate endlessly. We still have resource problem, even if his stem cells (or what ) could readapt to function as one cell organisms for the time being (which would result in his regening parts being partly a mass blob of cells (hmm what would happen if you separated some, would they just lose coordination signal?) like algae) where would they get resources? His head does not have much. Those regen cells could try to devour the non critical parts (tongue,jaw), but that would be totally off from the speculation of how his powers work. So unless his head is left in a big pile of flesh.. Air? Asphalt? Dirt? Lol... A lot of ifs and even then we have problems and we make new assumptions on how his powers work. P.s. Don't read superhero comics (actually I think they are inconsistent clusterf**k), still consider all this interesting and because science!sorry tried to keep short, that tends to be a problem for me.
@timogul8 жыл бұрын
Lol, IKMN. And yeah Flamingo, it is possible for both parts of his body to fully regenerate, but if that's how it works then there would basically be hundreds of Deadpools wandering around, because he gets dismembered A LOT, and if each piece then became a full Deadpool then we'd be swimming in them. There has to be something to decide which piece regenerates, because so far the only time where there have been two functional Deadpools at once was the evil "Frankenstien" Deadpool, and he didn't even regrow from one piece, he was a collection of numerous pieces grafted together and somehow brought to life. The nature of his motivating force is as yet unexplained. It's possible that what happened is that at one point, Deadpool was decapitated, but for whatever reason his "soul" decided to stay with the body. The body regrew a head and moved on, leading a dead head lying around. This head would never rebuild an entire body on its own (or it would have done so), but since it was lumped together with all the various "deadbits," it was able to sew together a semi-functional body, and also contained the stored brain memory that you discuss, but not the actual soul behind it, so it's basically a bit like a xerox copy of Deadpool with lower fidelity. Btw, the "each piece becomes a whole" angle was applied once to Lobo, where each drop of his blood shed grew into a fully formed Lobo. It was a weird storyline.
@timogul8 жыл бұрын
The thing is, most mutant powers have a dash of magic to them, most involve science that is way outside the realm of human understanding. I mean, Emma Frost converts her entire body mass into DIAMOND, and not just diamond, but diamond that is fully flexible, and also solid throughout (ie no visible organs, just clear from front to back). Science that. So Deadpools cells can live indefinitely without air or other resources, or at least for extremely long periods of time, and be revived once the right materials are present, and can presumably process those resources on the cellular level, rather than requiring specialized cells to process and transfer those materials. Basically each cell in his body would be biologically capable of turning local oxygen and free-floating nutrients into more cells. He could not regrow in a vacuum, would take a long time to regrow in a desert, but could regrow eventually in a normal livable environment. I think at one point he was just a head and grow some vague tentacley things to move that head around until he could find enough organic matter to build more of a body with.

So in line with decapitation, in Ultimate Wolverine, Shield cut off his head, but both Shield and Wolverine were surprised that he survived. His body didn't grow a new head, nor head a new body, but rather the cells in his head adapted to breathe through his skin and continue blood flow with his heart. Ultimate Wolverine is different, apparently, in that his healing factor is actually a survival power of sorts that allows his body to adapt as needed to stay alive.

I have a really hard question to answer about his regeneration. If he regenerates from the biggest part left I don't really see how that makes sense. How does the parts of Deadpool know which part to regenerate from especially if his brain is destroyed and he can only regenerate from a body part, and how do his parts know which is the biggest part to regenerate from. My thinking is that if his body parts can recreate his brain, then any part of Deadpool would regenerate a new being ultimately creating infinite Deadpools.

This is a question I asked on Facebook so enjoy. "Something crazy just occured to me. When Cell blew hismelf up tp kill Goku one of his cells remained and that cell mutiplied until he was whole agian. But before he blew himself up he was in his second form because Gohan had punched Android 18 out of him. After he regenerated he came back as his final, 3d form. Now we know that because he was blasted so many other times, and because of the nature of the absorption Android 18 and 17 had to fully merge, and, in a way dissolve... into Cell. Yet Cell somehow came back in his 3d form. What if after regernating from that single cell Gohan punched Cell agian really hard. Would he regurgitate Android 17 or even another copy of Android 18? Could Gohan theoretically almost detroy Cell countless times, and each time he came back he, or some other stronge fighter could just hit Cell so hard that he regurgtated a copy of one of the androids? Since Cell will always come back as long as one cell remains, could you just keap hitting him after coming back and make countless androids? "
