@@thomasprogli3372 if you read my comment again, you'll see that I'm not saying that Islam is not a problem. Instead, I'm recognizing that faith, the epistemology used to justify all Abrahamic religion, is the problem. In reference to your question about role models provided to the Jews by their deity, here are a few examples. The conquest of Canaan: In the book of Joshua, God commanded the Israelites to conquer the land of Canaan, which involved battles against the Canaanite tribes living there. The Amalekites: In the book of Exodus, there is a story where God instructs the Israelites to wage war against the Amalekites. Various conflicts with neighboring nations: Throughout the Old Testament, there are accounts of conflicts and battles between the Israelites and neighboring tribes and nations, often with God's guidance or approval. Hope this provides clarity on my position.

Another thing that makes Islam a threat to local cultures is that Islam is not just a religion, it is also a complete political & legal system, all in one. This means that Muslims are much more politically aware and active. When they vote, they tend to vote as a block, and the block doesn't have to be very big - if it's unanimous, they win the vote by being a large enough "swing" block that they can't be outvoted by a bunch of non-Muslim people who as a rule do not agree with each other on very much at all.

Thing is that everything you mentioned can pretty much be found in the other two Abrahamic religions, though perhaps not as overtly in the case of killing apostates in Christianity. The Qurxn and Islxm is by definition un-upgradable. Muhxmmad was by definition the perfect human example and almost 100 verses command that Muslims have to imitate his actions and sayings to avoid hell. Also his migration to Medinah, becoming a political and military leader, building a mosque(wich works more like a city hall, than only a religious temple) was so important, that islxmic calendar "starts" with that very event(Anno Hijra). All non believers of islxm are defined as Kafirs/Kufr, wich is a very negative concept(willing concealer of the revealed truth). This word is present more than 500 times in the Qurxn and verses about Kafir management covers up to 64% of the Qurxn and up to 51 % of isxmic primary doctrine(Qxran, Sira, Hadith). Political Islxm grows worldwide thanks to migration, birth, demographic saturation, cultural isolation, anti-apostasy death threats, Halal food and industries taxes and mandated contributions to propagate islxm (as a religion, which is a incomplete understanding of the full term) in non muslxm countries. One can acknowledge that a god most likely does not exist yet still appreciate how aspects of religion are the essential as building blocks in the nature ,and direction, of societies and how Western atheism can have the negative consequence of bringing into question structural fabric on which the West is built. Western society is basically eating itself and I believe that is very dangerous given the options likely to fill that vacuum. ⚠️ Regarding Islam, I’d like to share something important that I’ve learned. It’s taken me years to finally realize this......I think I’ve resisted coming to this conclusion - It was a big pill to swallow. Islam is not evil due to direct manipulation and control by rogue terrorist groups and extremists - It’s core doctrine is evil in and of itself. There are many many people in the world who call themselves Muslims. I’ve met some over the years - Many of them have kind souls. You could say they are the ‘Moderates’. There may be Moderate Muslims, unfortunately there is no such thing as Moderate Islam. I’ve realized that there is no definitive line in the sand within Islam that a Moderate Muslim can lean against that will prevent them from being forced to become a ‘true Muslim’ (Shariah-adherent). The Moderates have no logical or doctrine-based leg to stand on. They have no argument that supersedes what the Islamic scholars, and the core doctrine demand. It doesn’t matter what your Muslim neighbor interprets Islam to be. A Muslim doesn’t make Islam, rather Islam makes the Muslim. Someone not supporting the violent oppressive parts of Islam doesn’t mean they’re following a different version; it simply means they’re not adherent to what Islam requires. For all those who say Islam can be interpreted in a peaceful and virtuous manner, there’s one question I have for them - Where is this peaceful ‘version’ taught? Where is it officially codified? Where can I learn about it from an authorized source? A shocker for me was that Islam is not just religion. As stated in the textbook ‘What Islam Is All About’, which is widely used throughout Islamic schools in the US, Islam is a complete way of life: Religious, Legal, Political, Social, Military, and Economic. If it was religion only, I wouldn’t care what it teaches - To each their own. But when a political and legal system starts determining what happens to the lives of outsiders (non-Muslims), that’s where I have a problem. There are only 2 examples in all of world history that have been able to bounce back after being conquered by Islam: Spain and one other that I can’t recall. All others subjected to it have eventually fallen to be ruled over by Islam. Individual Muslims may be wonderful and non-threatening. But history speaks for itself when it comes to the overall long term effect when large groups of Muslims populate a society - Look at the past 1400 years. I realize this may seem harsh, but it’s just the truth. My motivation isn’t to spread hate, but rather to help wake people up to the reality of all this. I’m not a Muslim. I don’t speak Arabic. I haven’t been to Mecca. Everything I’ve mentioned above comes from the same things found in authoritative Islamic texts and what’s taught in Islamic schools throughout the US and all over the planet. You’re all free to find out for yourself.

This is my first experience hearing Matt Dillahunty and the hook was Douglas Murray. I am deeply grateful for his voice and consider him a TRULY caring human being seeking Truth. I really enjoyed this thoughtful and thought-provoking conversation. As a Christ Follower, raised in the Catholic faith, I was taught that first and of utmost importance was respect for other human beings, regardless of color or creed, land of birth or socio-economic status. Created by one God, imbued with unique talents, gifts and potential and for special purpose in the time and place in which we came to be, we have much to offer our world. Whether we recognize the meaningfulness of our life is dependent on several factors, free-will ultimately being of biggest consequence. One element that I don't often hear in the discussion of Christian belief, which I find to be essential to the discussion, is the claim in the Scriptures which tells us that "faith is a gift". Simplistic on its face, that claim is much more complex than it appears. With gift-giving there is the "giver", but there is also the "receiver" who chooses whether or not to receive what is being offered. I have heard it said, "For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who do not, no proof is possible."

Matt's mellowed significantly if this showing is representative. Indeed, I almost skipped this on the basis that he was on it and he'd become insufferably "woke" (in the OTT far left sense) long before it was cool, to the point it was almost religious... and I watched him plenty before he went down that particular rabbit hole. Perhaps his views have matured and been moderated... Perhaps it's time to give him another go.

No matter which side of the God equation you stand on and how convicted you are in your beliefs it’s always nice to look left and right to see who stands with you. Whether you’re at a family gathering or in a foxhole it’s great to see who your friends are. That’s why when I realized Mr. Murray wasn’t a believer in a higher power I was slightly down. No more than slightly down, and in another admission of bold honesty let’s face it a man of such brilliance that sees things your way only undergirds your own beliefs. I get it, I get it Mr. Dillahunty’s position of he doesn’t believe until he sees sufficient evidence can probably be extrapolated out to Dawkins’ descriptions that no amount of actual evidence will make him concede to the existence of God. Google it. I have a mountain of respect and sense of awe for the sheer intelligence of both these men regardless of the gulf of disagreement between us. I couldn’t help but notice though of something that reminded me of when I was a young boy. That is playing with friends that are waaay more willing to push the envelope on anything that probably was pretty wrong. What I mean is Mr. Dillahunty seemed way more convinced of his non-belief in a higher power than Mr. Murray. Picture them both sitting high up in a tree on a strong branch with a hand saw. I 100% believe Matt would be the one cutting further into the branch thinking the leaves below weren’t covering hard rocks while Douglas I think isn’t quite so convinced.

I am very much a fan of Douglas Murray. For this reason it pains me to see him pandering to Mr Dillahunty. What else can you call the extraordinary tip-toeing, when asked, around the positive impact of Classical Western Culture on life today in the West. Especially when he rightly rails in his books against those who fail to defend Western Culture and the values and legacy of what we should rightly cherish. Perhaps I’ve misunderstood those books of his on my bookshelf which I purchased partly in an effort to support so courageous a defender. If Mr Dillahunty puts no value on his heritage then that is his business and in my opinion a measure of his arrogance. Giving no credit to one’s past would indeed be a fine place to stand unassisted in one’s own magnificence. That mask of arrogance is momentarily removed, disguised as humor, when at 1:22:35 Douglas says “I agree with some of that, to which Matt quips”then you are partially right”. A picture is worth a thousand words and that adroit humor put a finger on what bothered me up till this point. Clarity for Mr Dillahunty looms large and comes only when it meets his definition. He alone is judge. He seems to imagine inordinate dangers from a portion of the world, the Christian community in particular, to whom he proffers the same credit as he does Western Cultural Heritage, which appears to be zero. Some might give a more balanced view of impact, both positive and negative! I’d say that today in the era we find ourselves that the Christian community (not its televangelists) presents about as much danger as the higher elements of our Western Cultural Heritage. Until that moment of levity I had trouble putting my finger on the arrogance of someone deconstructing Christian Apologists and the likes of Jordan Peterson to show the world they and so many more did not conform to his standards for clarity and truth. One gets the feeling it was a good thing for C.S. Lewis that Matt Dillahunty wasn’t around to tell him to go home till he sorted out God’s position on slavery.

The repetition of Rotherham, Oldham, Birmingham etc sectarian grooming scandals means that I look at the theology involved realise that Sharia has no age of consent and then take a position on Islam accordingly whilst digging for evidence I am wrong and finding very little.

Which is precisely what they have in common with the trans agenda, the sexualisation of children and abolishing the age of consent 🤮

I feel like I understand Peterson's evasiveness because I think we actually have the same position. I don't believe in God, but I _like_ Christianity. I like the narrative, I like the idea of redemption through actualized suffering, I like the idea of allowing something terrible to happen to yourself for the sake of other people, I like the imagery, I like the solemnity. It's compelling. And I perfectly understand you can take all the worthwhile pieces of this and reconstruct them in a secular frame, but I just _like_ Christianity. And I see the hallmarks that he says this in more words.

I don’t mind anyone being a secular humanist religiously speaking, provided that they don’t actually really believe it, and are only really nominal or cultural secular humanists.

@olivers, Really, you're expecting to hear about a solution? There IS NO solution. The ONLY solution that is acceptable is the total dominance of islamic submission. NOTHING ELSE.

Isn't Peterson's whole point about atheists aren't actually atheists because all of your moral foundations come from christianity because you were either raised directly as christians or because you were raised in a culture based on christian moral foundations? He is always focused on moral foundations and such so that's where that argument always came from when I hear it instead of the way when other people say it they state it in the same way you'd say the boldly anti-gay person is actually going around having gay sex, they think you're boldly claiming no god but you secretly pray and believe.
@itsjustavi Жыл бұрын
agreed, i find it kinda funny and sad that he took JP's carefully laid out argument and said it was pretty much identical to what this Christian debater had said back in the day. then he goes on about JP having some sort of secret darkness he's unable to cope with & that's the real reason he holds hos position....... like really? Jordan has said more times than i can count as a youth he was fixated on the cold war and the possibility of nuclear Armageddon. it fueled his curiosity regarding the nature of evil and good, got him in to clinical psychology ultimately in to teaching. he would ask his students to do a thought experiment of what it would take for you to be a prison guard in Auschwitz and weather or not you would participate in the atrocity's turns out most people would BUT they have a warped perception of themselfs that doesn't align itself with reality and when shit hits the fan? their heroic fantasy's shatter in an instant and the Evil they were certain only existed in evil people because they were just bad humans.... it exists in us all, the line for good and evil lies in every human heart. Jordan understands this and just how fragile society can be, if we take away any part and assume shit will just work itself out do to logic and reason? good fucking luck... and i'm not even religious really lol, but i understand why its needed.

Muslims are born into their religion and it's very hard to escape. They can't just walk away like so many Christians do. If Muslims walk - or run - away they lose their family who will disown them, even their own mother who gave birth to them. In the worst situations their family will chase them to kill them. I knew a young Muslim girl in London who was a lesbian. She was in hiding from her own brothers who vowed to find her and cut her throat. Maybe they have found her by now. I don't know.

I don't necessarily agree with Matt on this point, but you really are misrepresenting him. He does understand and actually addresses this (here and elsewhere), he just has a different opinion on how to respond to the situation than you and I.

@tulpas93 if he thinks that any culture is equal to any culture, and doesn't care if his culture disappears (as he states in the video) then he does not understand.
