Can Ismartgate Mini Smart Garage Door Opener fix Polestar 2`s missing Homelink button?

My 2022 Polestar 2 was delivered without Homelink. In my previous MY2021 Polestar 2 I use the Homelink button to open and close the garage door. Without Homelink I needed a different solution. After searching online I found the Ismartgate Mini which works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
I bought the Ismartgate Mini with Wired sensor as I don`t want to maintain smart devices with batteries in our cold climate.
In this video I install the Ismartgate mini garage door opener and show how it works with Google Assistant in the car.

FYI: The ismartgate unit is only connected to your garagedooropener with a normal doorbell/signal cable. Just use a longer cable and mount it next to the door, and the cable for the wired sensor should be long enough :)

Yes, I used an ethernet cable to solve the problem 👍 It's been working perfectly for months now. I also made a new video about the solution and also some tips about using IFTTT to control the door.

Where the sensors are placed doesn't matter so long as they match when the door is closed :) it can be connected to the J bar that pushes the door closed or pulls it open, why you think it needs to be on the door it self is maybe what they show as an example. The sensors don't know where they are placed, just as long as they are side by side when the door is closed. I didn't bother with the sensors as I know if I tell the door to open, it will and same with closing, if I wanted to waste the money I could have also gone for the Video kit, so it not only shows you how the door is, but who is using it as well as a quick look at the app lets you know if the door is open or closed.

The US seems to still have it. I know mine is 2022 model and does have it. Guess it 's region dependent.

Or source it from a wrecked car maybe? Should definitely be possible, not sure how much work or how much the cost will be though. This ismartgate device was only $49, so pretty cheap and as a bonus I get open/closed status when I get the sensor working 👍

This is what I got "out of the box". Isn't it nice to know that If you buy this kit you will get too short cables for it to work properly? 😉 I'll post a new video once I've fixed the issue 👍

I have the regular ismartgate conected to alexa for controling my garagegate. After a year or so she "forgot" the close trigger. My wife found out that she could ask alexa to open and close the gate with the same comand. Try to change your triggerword to "activate garagedoor" or something simular. I have only room for one car in my garage, my convertible. So I didn't care to control my gate with the car, but I will try now. Do you think our stars can use ifttt?

After I wired up the magnetic sensor things seems to work pretty ok here. The google assistant integration is quite annoying since it asks for pin code each time. There is no ifttt available for the car at this point, but that would be a great addition. It seems like using ifttt is a good workaround to avoid the pin code and also works good with using the ifttt phone app to open door using location when entering home area. Would prefer using the car location and not the phone location for that though.

I did :) I used an ethernet cable to wire the sensor and then use IFTTT so that I can use custom commands (Hey google, open the Polestar garage) and also buypass the annoying pin code verification. I`m very happy with the product. Will make a new video to show how it works very soon.
