Love this breakdown. Love what Arthur Smith is doing for this team. Love the execution and ball placement, aside from missing Freirmuth open a couple of times. We need to get him more involved. Fields doesn’t need to be a superstar, he just needs to protect the ball. The defense will carry us assuming it stays healthy. Love what I’m seeing. At this point, I’ll hate to see us go Russ unless it’s absolutely necessary.
@ChewsCarefully
@ChewsCarefully 2 сағат бұрын
I don't know where I stand on Smith. On the one hand, week 1 indicated he's willing to be creative & calling plays designed to win in that he purposely called all the passes to the sidelines to avoid the middle & Simmons & Bates. At the same time it felt like he Must Have a Plan B through whatever if the Falcons ever caught onto what he was doing, but also that he was content with the very low yield. Game 2 was worse in that look how Fields was tearing it up. It wasn't only that all his best passes were nullified by penalties: Smith almost only called for passes on 2nd downs to the extent that he was rushing on all 3rd downs, even 3rd & 15. They scored 13 points because of this in part at least. So: does he know when to allow Fields & Pickens more action or not? So far, I'd say not. He has reduced the # of snaps Pickens even plays. So he's *actively removing* opportunities _FOR_ Fields & the team to succeed. Why? If he sees what we're seeing but doesn't trust his QB, it's gonna cause problems. & the next team they go up against is coached by Harbaugh. He's not gonna sit by & wait for Smith to grow a pair, & Herbert isn't gonna hand them the game by throwing a layup INT in the end zone to make 13 points enough to beat him. This conservative play-calling has to end now. Will it though?

he is a one read guy get over it. he did good , but was lucky on ints imo, cause he do fields things and stay locked on that one target. no progression,. it seems from the replay he do hold the ball less and releases it to a player , , but i haven't watched the game. his worst is 4th quarter and not fumble the ball, idk how he always finds a way. thats his main issue
