Yes the every single one of those! Remember though, when watching those movies, you had to rewind the VHS back to the beginning because someone was always to lazy to rewind it after the last time it was watched?? 😂
@auntiea2002
@auntiea2002 4 жыл бұрын
if you rented the vhs tapes from a rental store, you had to rewind them before you returned them. if not, most places would add a extra charge on your account. hindsight, it was a slimy money making scheme for mom and pop owned vhs movie stores AND chain stores. my mom would always make sure that we had rewound the tapes because she didn't want to get the extra fee added on for the next time.

I was a kid in the 70's and a teenager in the early 80's. The 70's and 80's were very similar except for the fence around the playground. Never saw one of the those. Not sure how we survived childhood. We didn't wear seat belts I don't even remember a baby seat. I remember my mom holding my baby sister in her lap. Everyone walked to school on their own. Everything has changed.

Yeeees!! And you better not complain or say you’re bored. My mom’s favorite line back then (about 1983 -1987) was , “oh, you’re bored? There’s nothing to do? Sure, come on back in the house...I’ve got plenty for you to do. Let’s start with dishes”. I was back outside in a flash and didn’t come in until the street lights came on!

Beth? I tried to hide from my father whenever he wanted me to do the chores outside back when I was a kid in those times. He usually found me and sent me outside to do them. He had built-in radar. So I did the only thing any young person could do. I left home shortly after graduating high school.

I’m 53, live in South Texas, and didn’t have AC. My Dad controlled what little tv time there was. (I love John Wayne!) I remember getting a color tv. No dishwasher. We played outside from dawn to dusk. Our school playground had a tall METAL slide, metal jungle gym, and metal merry go round. GASP!! Our jungle gyms were square and went straight up. So much fun!!! Oh, and 4 daughters with 1 bathroom. Now that’s roughing it! LOL! Please do a part 2!! Anyone remember when MTV actually played music? Do kids today know it stands for Music TeleVision?

Summer in the 1980's meant working in the garden or going to the pool if I was lucky (someone drove me). My parents had a huge garden...1/4 acre of garden. My garden is much smaller. We also had woods across the road. We had a picnic area and trees to climb. Our swing was attached to a huge tree limb. Lots of paths to walk...no one wanted to go inside. It was fun. Watermelon with seeds were great. We had seed spitting contests. Occasionally my siblings would take us to the local state park where we would have a picnic and swim in the lake (I was the youngest).

The slip and slide was epic and just how I made it growing up. I however used the dish soap to make it slippery. I’m an 80’s kid and this is very accurate. There’s nothing like turning on the hose after it’s been literally baking for hours in the sun just to get that scorching first drink of hose water😂 also, the metal slides were no joke, yet we still came back for more slide burns. My most favorite memory though has to be the Saturday morning cereal while watch the Kung Fu movies that the audio was so out of sync with what they were saying so you had to wait a second after they spoke to actually hear what they were saying. Oh the memories!!

Three TV channels and the parents picked their programs. Cartoons only on Saturday mornings. I lived out in the country so it was inner tubes on the swamps. Massive snow forts and wet mittens all over. When it was -40, we were curled up in a blanket with a book. No central heating in my house. We had wood. No AC, either. Hotter than blazes in my upstairs bedroom in the summer. I don't recall wearing shoes, either.

There were cell phones back in the 1980s, but they were unusually large and usually too expensive for the average person to buy or own.

The neighbors would go crazy because we would start playing hide and seek as it was getting dark, but not too dark at the street lights came on, maybe once a month we were allowed to stay out after the street lights came on and that's when the hide and seek got competitively fierce! I remember going to my friends house and getting to watch cool movies like poltergeist. But only if we were really quiet and didn't talk. I remember my friend and calling me "Friday the 13th tonight!" All day it was like looking forward to Christmas. Getting to watch a big person scary movie then the bragging rights the next day in front of everybody else

I remember Slip & Slide. I tried it myself and got hurt in a very sensitive place on my body (which I won't say here). I guess I jumped a little too hard on it. I drank water out of the hose, but on hot Summer days, the water tasted *WARM* and kind of metallic in a way. I loved Etch N' Sketch, although I was never good at drawing on it. It was just fun to make squiggly lines. While I didn't care much for that particular movie, I loved a lot of other movies from the 1980s. *BACK TO THE FUTURE* *STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK* *THE FOG*

In the 80s we ran like there was no such thing as danger. Just our little group on our bicycles, we used to explore this abandoned boat yard right down the street from the house. Walk on the docs that were probably 50 years old at that point, go inside this huge huge garage with a big rotting boat in it that we called the titanic I don't understand how the city/town allowed this place to stay up for so many years LOLZ Then we would get like a dollar and go a few blocks over to the store that had all of the $.10 candy and $.10 hugs drinks. It was super sweet sugar water in a barrel looking bottle

Usually there were no fences around schools. It was like a little city at the schools. T ball, people playing wall ball, hanging out on the swings and playground equipment, A group playing soccer and the basketball courts were filled with two teams of five. People playing tag and kids on bicycles riding around.
