The logic behind Lossless Scaling app, is; that if you get 30fps, cap it at 20/25fps, and use frame gen to get 40/50fps. Or the 3x and get 60/75fps. You have to give your computer some slack and make space for the processing of Lossless Scaling. Cus it IS demanding. I have mostly used this on older emulated titles such as RDR1 on Xenia, since it doesn't output 60fps super fluidly. (originally 30fps cap, but u can turn it off in prefs) Thats where this app shines. It brings back old titles to play again as you imagined it to be. (since we are all so used to 60fps+ now) Using this to play newer gen titles on old systems is tricky. It depends on how demanding the game is, and how good your system is. If you are getting 50fps, but want more, take it down to 40fps capped, and use it to get 80fps. But if the game is heavy, you might get insane frame-time lag. (the time between rendered frames), which makes it choppy, like we saw with GTA V in this video. 168ms latency between every single frame, and not capping fps first, is a war between the game and the LSFG app fighting over who gets what resources at what time. These old systems, are kind of beyond saving when it comes to stuff like this. The app applies to either; - relatively new systems, with owners who cant afford to upgrade, or is not willing to - people who emulate old games and want more fluidity in the game. - people who wants to use the Upscaler to go from 1080p to 1440p/4K res in movie scenarios or game scenarios. These are the most common usecases i figured out atleast.

"We're allnused to 60 fps now" If only
@SkyLiink4 ай бұрын
@@SalimShahdiOff This all depends on economical factors. Such as; those with higher end gear are accustomed to maybe 140+fps, and those who have less than the average (according to steam survey), get less than 60fps. But median in gaming today seems to be around 60fps, if not more when it comes to competitive gaming. Dota, League Of Legends, Fortnite, CS2 etc.

From what I could gather in the comments: - LS isn't made for Fullscreen, probably works better on Borderless or Windowed - VSync affects the performance in a way (not sure if it does that negatively or positively.) - Frame Generation needs pixels too (I.e. low resolution means less information to work with, resulting in the "warping." Maybe it'll actually work when combined with Cheat Engine's speed hack to counter the "slow-mo"? Idk...

Actually, maybe you can try using Cheat Engine's Speedhack along with the Lossless Scaling? Maybe that way you'll actually get more FPS? (Edit: It seemed like it was actually doing the Frame Generation, though. It's just that there's barely any information in the game. The slow-mo effect might be from LS generating frames and inserting it into the game that's thinking it is running at a certain FPS (basically, a desync between LS and game.) From what I could gather in the comments: - LS isn't made for Fullscreen, probably works better on Borderless or Windowed - VSync affects the performance in a way (not sure if it does that negatively or positively.) - Frame Generation needs pixels too (I.e. low resolution means less information to work with, resulting in the "warping." - LS needs performance headroom, and possibly works relatively better with dGPUs. Just an opinion, might be wrong.)

I think lossless scaling is seen like the thing that’s gonna magically improve your fps ingame, it does but doesn’t at the same time, just make the game feel smoother when the game is already running at good fps, like 60-50 and maybe a bit lower, at much lower fps generating more frames will just make the game feel slowmo because it doesn’t have a lot to work with and will just make smooth transitions between the frames, so you think if you’re running the game at 15 fps you’ll get 30 with x2… the game at 15 fps feels slow because you’re aware of the images being rendered, now it feels even slower because you have smooth transitions between those already slow generated frames😅
@mvnk_054 ай бұрын
And ofc if the game has low fps, adding generated frames in between will probably require more computing rendering the thing useless

@@saiyaman9000 yeah its basically for the type of person who can run the game at 60 FPS but has a 144hz monitor (cof cof rich people problem) but, with my experience of running Assassin's creed unity from 12 FPS to 25, the main thing you need is a minimal of 30 FPS and GPU room for lossless (you shouldnt have the game using 100% of your GPU, have it reach at the most 80%) also you WILL have input lag but the closest you get to the ideal settings in lossless, the less it will have also ghosting will happen, but the more frames you have the more source the upscaling will have to be used so less ghosting also locking your vsync to half of your actual refresh rate (judging you have a 60hz display, so 30hz) does help since it wont try to surpass 30FPS and so stuttering may be less noticeable and basically most of the videos that talk about it never show the reality this one showed because they know the problem is not saving your pc, but atleast showing that lossless DOES WORK if you cant even have 60 stable FPS. nothing is a miracle.

you need at least 30 to 60 fps to run frame generation

@@proxygamer9964 It doesn't matter if I used Windowed or Windowed Borderless, the performance will be exactly the same regardless.
