In Part 2, I will make a launcher. It will probably have a shape similar to a howitzer.

You ought to add fragmentation “marks” (idk what to call it) but basically on the inside it’s just a grid pattern to decide where it breaks apart. But I’m sure you already knew this, impressive work as usual :3

what do you think the print layers are
@queerthing30284 ай бұрын
@@RogueMandoGaming Too small to be any bit effective as fragmentation, as well as the fact that each layer is a full circle, which also doesn’t help. Ideally a fragmentation pattern should be made of rectangles or a similar shape, so the hull breaks into uniform patterns so it’s more consistent compared to the fragmentation of a smooth hull.

Well you can find small mmw radars for proximity fuses. The HLK-LD2420 is only 20x20mm and runs on 3.3V. It’s digital so not much additional hardware should be required for a trigger. You probably can also just mount it at the bottom since the waves can go through the plastic shell. Anyway Merry Christmas.

This looks like a very promising project! I have have one recommendation however: Perhaps to make the explosion actually rupture the casing it might be best to add a little bit of a pinecone structure to the casing, similar to the American hand grenades of WW2. This will cause the shrapnel to be a bit more severe but that could easily be fixed by just standing behind a screen.
@matthewbolton42895 ай бұрын

@LupeTheFool the pineapple grid on the outside would make it aerodynamically unstable if it was on the inside like modern grenades it would be much better

For fragmentation, they actually have a coil of hard metal wrapped around the inside wall, scored so each chunk is about the size of two rice grains side to side

I did a similar project using taginn airsoft 40mm grenades as a power source to launch the projectile, for the driving bands I found that paraffin wax work’s awesome since it’s relatively hard, melts low enough not to melt pla molds, and it allows the rifling to grip on and forms to in great!
