Very true but let's not put ourselves in a box alone because white men get the same shit. After all, who started the whole feminist BS? White women. It's typically white women from a liberal background that are like that. White women from conservative backgrounds are far more traditional and respect men. But our women are 99% liberal and they have been indoctrinated most of all the races of women. This is Western culture now. Outside the west, men are still upheld with respect. But black men on the whole and white men up north and the Pacific... Are catching hell with this feminist shit.

Bruh, my wife understands when I don't want to talk, leave me be. I'll talk when I'm ready. Men are problem solvers, this is what feminist women like these chicks don't understand. They're so busy trying to be equal to us. But they aren't trying to be equal by RISING to our level. They want to be equal by bringing us DOWN to theirs. This is what all this babble talk about emotions is all about. They want to turn us into chicks. Naw bruh, not me. I hold on to my masculinity with a death grip. No broad is gonna make a Will Smith outta me.

I’m not seeing that point about black men being more emotionally available to non black women. Who? Where? I agree with the comments that men in general aren’t socialized and properly trained by both their mother and father to regulate their emotions. But by adulthood it is each individual’s responsibility to learn to get in touch with their emotions. Therapy, a healing class, journal, meditate. ♥️✨

@@tygon13 It doesn’t sound sexist, just inaccurate. The fact is that men for generations have been told to suck it up, be a man and not cry. The same message has not been given to women. I think the issue is less about emotional intelligence and availability and more about who people are choosing for their partners. I think one of the guys in the comments made a valid point about having a conversation about and around men but leaving a man’s point of view outside of the conversation. It would also have been interesting to hear about the subject from couples or married people to see if there is any experience with growth in these areas. I understand the platform is for women’s voices, but I’m not sure where the conversation helps to solve the issue.

You are worrying about some basket that this lady put her husband in, Which had absolutely nothing to do with you but the emotional side in you for a brief moment had you acting unmanly and out of character which is never good in the eyes of a woman because you responding the way she would which mean you're acting like a woman for a makeshift period.

I don't understand how women think men are supposed to be emotionally available when we are taught to suppress them all our lives. It's like outside of being happy or mad, any other emotion is considered being soft or weak. Most of the time when women say they want their men to open and talk about how they feel, they just want to be nosy. They want to know for sake of knowing, opposed to trying to help bring about some type of emotional resolve/security for their partner.

I consider myself a semi-recently emotionally intelligent, not always emotionally available, black man. I have a good amount of dating history with women of all colors (mostly non-white, but not a majority black). This chat has some serious holes where I don't see this conversation being useful for black women or black men trying to get together. In many ways, the ideas pushed here produce emotionally unintelligent men. I'll address what I found problematic: First, this conversation lacks the most obvious and important part of the issue: dating and social expectations of black men during and just before dating age. To everyone who's non-white, there's very little acceptance that we (black men) have emotions. We grow up navigating this world knowing no one responds to our emotions positively for us. More than any other race/gender combination, the world doesn't give a shit, and more often poses a threat to our survival and can easily set us back. This is true in all major aspect of our lives except potentially close family: friends, crushes, education, work. When we want something, we better be smarter, funnier, more charismatic about it. There's no space to be sad, angry, super happy in our success. Some of the topics in this very conversation reinforce the ideas that make us devalue emotional maturity starting with this first one: 1) "We've all had those men that are a little too open" and the response of "we're not your therapist." That was an ugly conflation of being open and actually putting your problems on someone else. Putting your problems on someone else means you're forcing a response that requires a lot of work. It looks like engaging in a debate where you have to convince them of something; or excessive complaining/venting about something with no way for the other person to end it. If no seriously hard work in a response is needed or expected, then "being open" isn't a serious emotional problem as it was discussed here. I find it silly this is even a point because why discuss someone who's telling and showing you who they are? Keep it moving if that's what you don't want to interact with. This is women lacking self-awareness that their dislike for too-open men is their own preference. 2) Then I don't get how this pivots right into men having to listen to women who say "I can spot a trauma problem and we have to get to the root." Didn't you just say you're not the therapist? There's validity in this point, but the path there was ugly. It further comes up where these women are diagnosing men after saying "I'm not your therapist." Sorry, you can't have it both ways -- you can diagnose someone for needing an therapist trivially but you strongly assert "I'm not a therapist." I agree that other than a therapist, heavy emotional burdens with complex personal history should not be expected to be shared, but social contacts are supposed to have some capability to respond to needs of those they supposedly care about. 3) The woman who mentioned that she only dated "beta" males. Wow. Regressive. I can't believe this term was allowed in a conversation about emotional intelligence. Beta males disguised as alpha males? If you subscribe to this idea of alphas, betas, and omegas, then you should already know every "beta" is out there trying to look like an "alpha" so the only issue is you not being able to tell which is which. I think the bigger problem is women who reinforce that ideas of alpha and beta, are behind the expectation that grows boys into men who don't want or see use with their emotion. Nothing about the alpha gives two shits about the emotional needs of the group. At least with wolves, pack survival is relevant. As humans, we're operating entirely for status so an alpha's disregard for anyone else's needs is entirely for their own status. Don't conflate alpha with success. 4) I think the discussion around "men have always fallen short for us" needs to be qualified and dive deep. What failures of the men in your life has forced you to be strong? Analyze survival for that black man who failed against realities of this nation and his situation. Many do mess up, but to call it out as "just a clear fact" is a presumption of our worthlessness. I'd ask you ladies to come up with a reasonable solution for how to acquire resources in a community that only has drugs and guns to sell. 5) One woman mentioned poking her man to see if he would show emotion. This is a red flag for me. If you're consciously poking at emotions in another person, you're liable to get no response because the other person intuitively, and unconsciously detects that it's not genuine and it generates no response. I very much hate anyone who's doing something just to get a response. That sort of behavior is like training someone *not* to trust what is happening and suppress their emotion because they are just being poked. 6) There was a sequence later when they say they are happy to die alone. That was interesting because I saw an exposure of values come out and it was extremely materialistic. Unless it was a bit of a cheeky moment, it was disturbing. It's hard for me to see such high levels of desired materialism and status display and believe that there is also a good bit of emotional intelligence. Though it's more of a value difference up front, emotionally intelligent people would be more focused on either being able to claim their own peace alone, with their friends, or some balance between the two. No part of me claims I am, or going to be, happy because I can afford to own something, travel somewhere, and be on a boat. 7) First date asking her to see his therapist story is an orange-red flag and it's hilarious she doesn't even see it. An emotionally mature and intelligent person knows a first date is not a serious relationship, and stastically isn't likely to become one. They can accept they feel that they want you around for a long time, but it's FAR FAR too early to ask someone to engage with their therapist. That's not appropriate to ask until there's a real relationship there. You know the other person likes you, and you two plan to be around each other for more than a minute. 8) The example for self-awareness: guy doesn't realise she's not listening and compliments her for being a good listener. The issue is you weren't interested in what he was talking about or how he was talking about. You intentionally didn't mention disinterest in the subject and he didn't pick up on it. Yeah, that's a reason not to want to date someone, but it's far from emotional immaturity. The emotional immaturity I see in that situation is not being able to manage your emotions of wanting to end the interaction. Instead there's this passive engagement wondering when he's going to be disinterested and fall out. Emotionally mature people take steps towards their intentional exit of their own situation. The bear responsibility for their chosen path, and potential mistakes rather than being passive. They won't blame the other person for the flaws they don't like, and further blame the other person for not noticing ending it for them.

Story time as a black man: Once I was dating this black woman we were still in the talking phase and she was dealing with things mentally and I was always there to be emotional support for her, but there was one thing she kept doing, which was telling me stories about her job and how she wanted to violently attack her managers and employees with bats and other items. I understood her pain but it came to the point where it affected me mentally. I finally told her to calm down on the violence, because it was affecting me mentally a bit. Emotional intelligence is a made up construct. Its not like iq. Its best to call it social intelligence or social awareness. The question the panel posed is also a leading question. Thats like asking 'can a person with one leg win a race with two legged people?' A good point was made by the lovely lady on the left. Being emotionally unavailable is not equivalent to having no emotional intelligence. Most men are stoic, meaning that they dont allow their emotions to dictate their actions. Acting on your emotions or displaying your emotions does not also equate to high 'EQ'. This was a great discussion with all the perspectives. Cant wait for more.

I love the role reversal test to see a different perspective to a topic.... Role reversal= A group of white men sitting around talking about how white women are not intellectually availability if they lack intelligence capability. How women just aren't smart enough to cope with their own lives, let alone interact socially, and if women would just "do the work" they might be capable, but they just aren't willing to. "White women specifically are not smart enough so, maybe I should date outside my race” . So... Thoughts on that? Lol, I do find it full circle and such. It's amazing as to how things like this really do always tie back to our stereotyping of things like race and sex etc.

Men aren't completely void of emotions. The unfortunate truth females continue to forget is that it's now common knowledge that men are conditionally raised to not show or express emotion and not be so soft, don't show weakness etc. Which is more accurate to state that yes, men are capable of emotional maturity, they are simply better at HIDING their emotions better than us women. Not only that, mens DNA does not have the same amount of chemical hormones that make the female gender more emotionally fueled and driven, which means men are already at a disadvantage to hold up to womens standards of being emotional available. Damn women, give these men a break god dammit! Read a book. Educate yourself on the male species for once. Try, try to understand them better instead of puttin all the blame on something else. Check ya self ladies!

Lmaoooo it’s funny how most of these topics are about black men but yet there’s none to speak 😅, 1. Emotional intelligence, being emotionally vulnerable, and having the safe space to express these emotions is important as a black man unfortunately black women for the most part arent patient enough to address these issue long term. How do you teach men to be open when for the most part men especially black men have been thought that we shouldn’t be, so you have to now un program our brains to really do that heavy lifting.

I think this is sort of a broader question than just men. Many people lack both emotional intelligence and emotional maturity that comes with it. As far as men go I think a lot of it stems from toxic masculinity that pops up in all of our communities no matter our skin color. Getting called things like a pansy, fairy, homophobic sluts, being threatened etc for showing emotion by other men doesn't help and women at least when I grew up would stand by and largely let it happen or join in at times Times are getting better, but for people to be emotionally intelligent and mature they need to grow past it and be exposed to new ways of looking at things. It took a suicide attempt in my teens to change how I viewed a lot of things and showed me how emotionally stunted I was and how bit expressing myself caused a lot of issues to build up. People also lack emotional control in general and are far to quick to anger and do not look at things logically.

BW to often sanction BM for showing any emotion at all. Too much, not enough, it’s an impossible target to hit. And after while, what’s the point of trying for BM? What’s the benefit to BM if BW make such sport of insulting them?

I really find very interesting that these women are telling the world about men in their emotions their thoughts without having any men on the panel. Women switch their moods emotions every thought always starts with I feel and making life decisions on based on feelings but men lack being emotionally availability and intelligence. Funny as hell

*sigh. This video is hate speech. Image if the video was asking if women could be intellectually availability if they lack intelligence capability? And the premise of the video was about how women just aren't smart enough to cope with their own lives, let alone interact socially, and if women would just "do the work" they might be capable, but they just aren't willing to. And in addition to this, let's add the racial perspective that black women are just not intelligent. Anyone see how this entire topic is sexist and racist? Because you should be able to see it. Because this what hate speech looks like and sounds like. 🤷

I tried telling the woman that I'm dating how I feel about wanting children, getting married, and her not seeing me for my birthday. I want children and want marriage, but she doesn't. My birthday is coming up in 2 weeks, but she told me she probably won't do anything with me. Her response was to hurry up and get off the phone with me, but she sends me pictures daily of things she wants me to buy for her. Women shut out men who are emotionally available is what I've found.

THERE IS NO HEALTHY AMOUNT OF EMOTIONAL AVAILABILITY FOR MEN IF YOU CAN SAY THAT YOUR NOT HIS THERAPIST. YALL LADIES ARE MISLEADING FELLOW WOMEN. YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THAT THE FACT THAT THE MAN WAS ABLE TO ATTRACT YOU IS BECAUSE HE SUPPRESSED MOST OF HIS EMOTIONS AND NOT COME OUT AS "TOO EMOTIONAL"

I think you should look at a culture that does'nt allow men to express their God given emotions, ( to be completely Human). Sadly, this culture of non emotional men, is often enforced by women.

This video is promoting sexist and racist views that are derogatory against one gender and one race. I love the role reversal test to see if something is sexist or racist, so... Role reversal= Women are not intellectually availability if they lack intelligence capability. And the premise of the video then is about how women just aren't smart enough to cope with their own lives, let alone interact socially, and if women would just "do the work" they might be capable, but they just aren't willing to. And in addition to this, it would be about black women specifically. You want to take the roll reversal even further? Then think of it about "white women" specifically not being smart enough.
