It’s really wonderful that your country has such an affectionate connection to the former Queen. It contrasts with the hilarious outburst on Twitter from Irish and Black Twitter when Queen Elizabeth died. Very cool that it happened at the end of the Year of Aun and after Cnut’s day.

Appreciate your thoughts on this. Perhaps it’s different in different places, but in Britain at least the monarchy exemplifies a massive wealth disparity and power imbalance even in its largely symbolic existence. Children in Britain are starving and facing poverty (with global majority communities facing disproportionate levels), while the monarchy rests easy in its palaces, built from wealth that is not shared but concentrated. There are cancer treatment waiting lists as long as the coastline, but the monarch is resting easy getting the treatment that everyone deserves. The only way I can relate to that is through wishing for the abolition of the power structures which the monarchy upholds?

They would still exist, they'd be intensely wealthy aristocrats like any other aristocrat in Britain and Europe. Abolition of the Monarchy isn't a big own. After all, it's not the Monarchs who have created the current system, or the associated poverty and issues with healthcare. If the current Monarch was more hands-on, I almost guarantee there'd be an improvement to the country. Many issues in modern Britain, the Monarchy isn't one of them.

Thank you so much for this. As a Heathen but also a Constitutional Monarchist, I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

Two things: First this reminded me that the concept of mythic heroes was basically condensing a culture into one person, both good and bad aspects. Second when you mentioned the new king''s motto, I was immediately reminded that LEGO is Danish in origin. This could be another video idea for you, LEGO and animism.

LOL thats how I came to know nordic animism - the basis already has been laid in my childhood even before Rune took birth supposedly, but now lets start considering Widukind, the central european partisan

I am a Heathen, Animist and Marxist. As a thought experiment I actually was thinking: how would a Monarch function as an mythological but concrete symbol within an stateless and classless society? The insights I found were not distant from what you described Rune. Even though I wish to abolish the Swedish Monarchy, I feel the symbol of a monarch or some other kind of animist centre-figure would be not just acceptable but preferable. Not that they may be given state power but symbolic or animist power, to drag us out of the sludge that is nationalism. Side Note: Had been thinking a lot of Yngve-Frej(and Théoden) this weekend.

Might that then not be abolishing it but instead reforming or transforming it? I find the idea interesting.

If I had to answer, I’d say it had to be an elective monarchy at least. And then it’s state religion would have to be empirically pluralistic. Since there’s actually a lot of overlap in between empirical and animist in the “peer-review” and folk aspect. Big on ITK.

Also if you analyze the rise of monarchies in the middle ages it's very on pair with rise of the Christian church. Before that monarchie was a lot more localized and if you reach back to the roman iron age, germanic peoples used to elect their leaders in some instances. The centralization of germanic power and rise of medieval monarchies seems to be reminiscent of the power that late roman emperors held.

@@urubutingaz5898 makes sense if you realize the Catholic Church is the resulting remnant of the Nicene Christians and the Western Roman Empire co-opting each other.

@@deismaccountant Very well put, unfortunately the germanic tribes ended up playing into it and progressively became more romanized and christianized as time went on.

Funnily enough many Aussies prefer your monachy to the British one. Mostly because of Queen Mary being one of our own. We feel that connection to a monarchy to be personal for the first time.

It's an interesting theory that monarchies are less oppressive systems than democracies. And were these northern European case studies the only examples I might agree, but what about southern Europe? What about the Middle East? The Caesar of Rome was essentially the king of a larger territory, and Rome's economy famously ran on slaves and war. Likewise the current Arab states still have monarchs, of which the oppression of women is a crowning feature.

King without (christian or pre christian) divinity is just a shadow of a former sacred institution that once united people and the land😟

The event itself seems quite "synchronistic" you might say, i apreciate it's symbolic and animate significance. And even the animist quality adherent to monarchies in general, especially with the more symbolic ones like may queens for instance. However i think the problem with monarchies might be their overconcentration of power and stiffness which might be of detriment to their animist aspect making it harder for said power, and therefore it's animacy to circulate to it's people and land. Maybe a more constitutional monarchie less focused on the "polical" aspect and more focused on the sacred symbolic aspect would make more sense in a world moving towards animism.

We are afraid of each other and or hold onto our Egos thinking our ways are the only ways that must be for self preservation a type of fear. How would Euro, Asian and American animism look if we understood there is an ancient common enemy. I want a Unification of Christians and Animist so our ancestors sins can be pardon. So we can work together to protect the land and heal the minds. So the minds of the broken Christian can be recovered, they are broken people of GOD manipulated by Ego they will repeat Israel mistakes and attack. They need to be recovered and reeducated. The book is wrong God did not demand other Gods disappear a cursed human did. Humans wrote the book humans cursed other gods to justify a conquest. Humans created all the problem and blame divinity and spirits.

@@NordicAnimism yeah, you have a point. As a Latin American woman who sees and deals with so many consequences of European colonization everyday (which for me basically means crown and church power) it feels a bit strange to hear someone (whom I enjoy the content) say good things about the monarchy. But as I said, I see the point of the arguments you were making (and I think they make sense). It's just that some moments made me feel a bit weird. I think for some people (like me and possibly others) it's a delicate and sensitive matter to discuss and maybe it will always be. Or it might be just the inner conflict you mentioned. But don't take me wrong, I really enjoy the content you make
