If Knowles is coming to Oklahoma or any other place, it would be disrespectful and tacky, to have any outward display or admission of leaving Ohio prior to the end of their celebratory events. Knowles, Day, those players and that entire program deserve to rellish and enjoy it all! The fans would make their disappointment in Knowles abundantly clear and ruin the moment. I know OU can match the numbers, I believe OU has a WMD and that is that, Knowles' fiancée lives in Oklahoma and is refusing to move, per people close to them. That's between the two of them, we can sit back and watch things unfold. I will always contend, with BV here I have 🚫 concerns about defense! I would love to see BV w/o the dual role, but he's a grown man and has more experience as HC and I believe he can handle things differently. #SoonerprOUd

Maybe JK will sign with OU today but wait til Monday after the tOSU National Championship Celebration Parade to announce. If so then it's probably Monday of next week. I still think OU has a good chance. I think the hire would be good for OU not only optic wise, recruiting wise, but also for BV to be a HC and let someone else handle the Defense. BV handling the DC plays and trying to be a HC will not work in tight games were management of time is crucial. I do think if Knowles is hired and allowed control of the D that the administration will give BV and his staff at least another year beyond this year otherwise it would make no sense for Knowles to come here. Look, Nick Saban was a great defensive minded coach but he realized to be a great HC he needed to let someone else handle the D. It worked out well for him and Bama so why not get BV to follow suit?

That's a given for Sooner Nation, so yes, I respect your thoughts on the dual duties. I also get what Saban did, however, I do consider these are not the same men. BV's not a novice as much as fans on social media try to make him out to be. I have reason to believe, BV will be here beyond 2026. Whatever is happening we will have to give things a chance to materialize with regards to coaches coming or not, as well as the 2025-2026 seasons record. It all remains to be seen. I'm rooting for BV and the program no matter the outcomes of any of these things! They will find a way to make things work if necessary.

There is zero way that OU can afford to get in a bidding war with Jim Knowles UNLESS there is some kind of guarantee that Knowles will be the head coach if OU decides to part ways with BV. The offense is what is going to make or break BV's legacy at OU not DC. You can't pay EXTRA money to get Knowles IF the offense doesn't improve as you just added cost with no results....UNLESS BV jumps over and gets involved with the offense and makes a difference if the new OC can't do it himself. Wes Goodwin would be to me the best solution right now and let BV run the defense until the offense gets figured out.

@@michaeljackson7361 is that a true barometer? BV could have won more Natties because he had better talent at Clemson for most of the last decade, certainly not the last 4 years. The Natty at OU in 2000 was as co DC using BS's defense and influence. JK was only at one school that really had a chance and that was tOSU. He was there for the last 3 seasons. At all the other schools he really didn't have the talent BV had at Clemson so I don't really know. Could BV have taken Oklahoma State's talent and made them into an elite Defense? They were #4 in Total Defense in 2021 when Jim Knowles was their DC.

When I said BV had better talent I was not referring to the last 3 to 4 years where there was maybe more talent at Ohio State I just said that BV coached on a team (Clemson) that had the talent to win it all longer than JK ever did with tOSU and that is why BV probably has more Natties. My question is do you think BV could have done what JK did with Oklahoma State, that is produce the #4 total defense in the nation with 3 star talent at best but yes almost all seniors? Personally I don't know. Maybe JK is better than BV. Maybe BV is better than JK. Maybe they are about the same. I know that they are both good for sure.
