Can Scoliosis Cause Back Pain?

Hi ! I'm form Sri Lanka, Thank you so much for your comprehensive description in this regard. I'm a Scoliosis patient having a Cobb angle of 90⁰ and now I'm 33 years old. Due to the severe back pain I was adviced to go for a fusion surgery. I need to know whether it is risky to have a surgery at this age? And would it make any further complications? I’m 16 and I have a 20 degree curve in my spine. It’s causing a lot of on going pain. I can’t sit, lay or stand for long periods. This has also caused my left leg to go numb when added pressure or weight is put on it. What can I do? Will surgery be in the question ?

Thank you very much for your expertise and advice. My family has a multiple generational history of scoliosis. Growing up and in my adulthood I had no pain so unfortunately my scoliosis was not discovered. The pains started about 15 yrs ago when I was working as a nurse, but no one thought of scoliosis! Now I'm 64yo with severe pains. At the moment I'm going through x-ray, scans and MRI. Hoping to find the propre treatment for myself. What would you recommend ? I live in France. i had pretty bad posture and experience back and shoulder pain.i got diagnosed with spinal asymmetry because the 'scoliosis' was less that 10 degrees .I do notice though that my ribs are uneven and it bothers me a little.will i be able to make them even?
