I agree w Matt. It's not Nalgene specifically you get free at events but that STYLE of bottle yes. They are very cheap, don't hold ice, don't keep water cold long, and have a huge hole to drink from. They are fine in a pinch or when you really want a bottle to throw around but for daily yummy water use no. Matt is right for once 😂😂😂💖

My Nalgene is my big water cup at home. It’s nice that it’s portable but otherwise the largest glasses I have are pint glasses I’ve collected. I like to throw a reusable straw in there and use while I’m working. I also take it on dog walks but other than that it’s a no-go water bottle as the odds of me dribbling on myself when drinking from that wide mouth are way too high.

Yup, I’ve done it a few times and I’m one of the least athletic people. Mikes story is super scary though, nothing like that happened on any of my trips- to be honest it sounds like the company should have been more careful with little kids on board.

I’m a sign language interpreter and actually not many people are fully deaf and fully blind. I work with a woman who is mostly Deaf and legally blind but uses sign language to communicate because her sight is better than her hearing! Likewise I know people who are fully blind and hard of hearing but have hearing aids to aid in communication! All of these people would still be labeled “Deaf Blind”.

When it comes to your hearing please everyone use earplugs anytime you are even at a sporting event. My Mother had me use ear plugs since I was a kid at any concert I was at and I am 47 and have amazing hearing. Both of my parents went most deaf by age 70. My Dad has over 80% hearing loss mostly due to when he was in the Army, they didn't have them use hearing protection when shooting.

Also if you HAVEN’T been careful about your hearing- don’t be embarrassed or ashamed about any hearing loss you come to experience. It’s better to talk to the doctor, get checked out, and maybe use a hearing aid than to miss out or compromise your safety by not being able to fully hear the world around you.

@eb totally! I've been telling my Dad for over 20 years to get hearing aids. They can be expensive but in his case money isn't the issue. It's his pride! Finally last week his dr. Got on him about not having hearing aids cause I have to be at every drm visit and make every phone call for him and answer every question anyone asks him because he can't hear. Then yesterday his physical therapist got on him too and I think he's finally starting to realize that he needs to do something

Nalgene bottles are nice bc you can fill it with water half way, turn it sideways before putting it in the freezer overnight, and then the next morning you have half ice + add water the open half.

Helen Keller probably had some sight and hearing which helped her learn. Being legally blind doesn’t mean you can’t see anything at all, same with legally deaf. If she was completely deaf and blind it would be impossible

Agree that I’m not sure if she had some ability to see and hear- also I believe she lost one or both of the ability’s in later childhood so she had some frame of reference instead of being born both blind and deaf. Disagree that it would be impossible to teach someone who was born both completely blind and profoundly deaf, touch is a powerful sense and if the person has a fully functioning brain then it’s totally possible to establish some unique form of communication & build on that.

omg yeah don't go white water rafting before your wedding ! I thought it would be fun but the day we went it turned bad quick. Our raft out of 6 got the name 'carnage' because of the ridiculous amount of times we flipped and almost drowned once. Just be prepared 😂 scariest day of my life with my family lol... Nice. My grandmother was blind and I’ve met/worked with/known a lot of deaf and hard of hearing people because I grew up near a big school for the deaf. The Helen Keller stuff bugs me- our brains are powerful and it makes total sense to me that a blind and deaf person could learn to communicate - it’s more difficult for me to imagine what it would be like to be trapped in a blind/deaf body with no way to connect. That’s horrific.
